In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

La primera mitad se trata de la conclusión al arco anterior, en donde el Rey Shura termina con la ilusión del Rey Yasha, quién únicamente se mantenía “con vida” gracias a los poderes de la pluma de Sakura.
Si bien Syaoran y sus generales intentan salvarle, el Rey Shura decide sacrificar su vida pues su único deseo era revivir a la persona que quería. Al ser algo imposible de cumplir, inclusive para el castillo que se supone tendría el poder de conceder cualquier capricho, hace un intercambio con la Bruja de las Dimensiones, Yuuko, y así, en el futuro ambos reyes son adorados como dioses y también permanecen unidos en lugar de estar en guerra todo el tiempo
La segunda mitad del tomo es el inicio de un nuevo arco, en el Reino de Piffle, en el que una pluma de Sakura es el premio en una carrera de dragon-flies (unos vehículos voladores muy populares en ese lugar). La mayoría de participantes son personas que ya han conocido en los previos reinos; por si fuera poco, Tomoyo Daidouji hace su segunda aparición, sólo que en esta ocasión es la dueña de una empresa promotora de la carrera.
También es la primera vez que la princesa Sakura va a actuar voluntariamente para ganar la carrera y así, recuperar su pluma, y con ello, sus recuerdos.
Realmente este volumen no tiene mucho de interesante, con excepción del final del arco de los dos reyes, y el hecho de que Syaoran sabe que hay otro igual que él, en algún lugar escondido. Y por supuesto, que sus acciones sí tienen repercusiones en los mundos, aunque eso ya era de esperarse.
En fin, ¡espero que el siguiente volumen sea mucho mejor!

Llegamos a la conclusión de esta aventura por el país de Shura y Shara.
Con un desenlace un poco triste pero muy bueno y que marcará un cambio importante en la aventura de los protagonistas.
Me encanta que ahora Fye se preocupe porque los cuatro se mantengan juntos, que aunque todos piensan igual es él quien se preocupa de que a la hora de viajar a otro mundo lo hagan juntos, para no perderse y quedar en puntos alejados.
Es interesante el hecho de como en esta ocasión pudieron viajar al pasado de un lugar al cual habían llegado y la manera en cómo sus acciones cambiaron el futuro de ese lugar. Al parecer no sólo podrán viajar a diferente dimensiones si no que también existirá la posibilidad de que viajen al pasado, lo que le agrega otro factor interesante a la historia.
Ahora parece ser que los villanos se han dado cuenta de que Yuko no se las pondrá muy fácil para conseguir lo que quieren, por lo que reconocen su poder y de que tendrán que enfrentarse a ella para conseguir sus planes.
Ahora entrará en escena un personaje que al parecer ya conocen nuestros protagonistas pero del que no tienen idea de que pertenece al grupo de los malos y del cual sabremos de quien se trata en la siguiente historia.
La siguiente aventura acontecerá en el país Piffle.
Al principio nos encontramos con un sueño que tiene Syaoran y del cual como siempre sólo servirá para incrementar las ya muchas preguntas que se van generando y de las que aún no tenemos ninguna respuesta.
Este mundo sin duda me ha encantado, ahora para conseguir la siguiente pluma tendrán que competir en una carrera de autos voladores, algo completamente diferente a lo que habíamos visto en las historias anteriores. Por fin aparece Tomoyo, que como en la historia original de Sakura, tiene la misma obsesión por ella y que aprovechara el hecho de ser la organizadora de la carrera para grabar en todo momento a Sakura.
Me gustaría mucho saber como es en realidad la relación que hay entre Kurogane y Tomoyo, puesto que en esta ocasión, al no ser "la verdadera" posiblemente se comporte de manera algo diferente a la que conoce Kurogane.
En cuanto a Fye, parece ser que esta escapando de alguien pero del que aún no sabemos nada. Éste es aún un personaje que se sigue guardando muchas cosas detrás de esa fachada sonriente y del que me da mucha curiosidad por saber más.
Un detalle que me gusta mucho y me seguirá gustando es la relación que hay entre Fye y Kurogane, puesto que se complementan y Fye siempre le hace ver que detrás de esa fachada fría está una persona que se preocupa por Syaoran y Sakura, aunque él no lo quiera admitir libremente.
Sin duda esta nueva historia promete mucho y está resultando interesante y muy divertida. Ahora a seguir leyendo para saber como se sigue desarrollando la aventura en este nuevo país.
Ampliamente recomendable.

The idea that they could be transported into one country, and then into its past is a interesting one. I also rather liked that Mokona sent them back to the future to see what had happened. I don't really think that Syaorian and company changed the future though, as Ashura had asked Yuko to make a good out of Yasho and him. I a enjoying the parts of Yuko I am getting to see. I am also kinda upset I did not get into this earlier, because the library used to have all of XX Holic and now they don't so I am goanna have a hard time finding it to just borrow.
I did enjoy the design of the Piffle World as well, as well as seeing Tomoyo fawn over Sakura again! I still want to know what is with the Syaorian that Fei Wang has, and how or if he is related to him, and what about his memories, and Fai.... Gah too many mysteries!

That plot line wasn't my fave so far. I'm really interested in the witch lady, though. And also this racing one looks like it'll be fun.

Meh. It seems that the series go downhill. Things seem repetitive now, going into new world, rescuing feather and on and on. This time that visit futuristic country Piffle and blah blah blah .
There is a mystery, a big one, and I wish it didn't make us wait for unraveling it. I am impatient.

Review for complete series
Tsubasa is in a way a love letter to all of CLAMP's other works. I went into this having read almost all - definitely all relevant - series by CLAMP, so I can't say for sure, but I think this series is only half as fun if you haven't read the other works (preferably all). If you enjoy Easter Eggs and cameos, Tsubasa is an absolute treat.
For the longest time, Tsubasa was the longest manga series I owned; anything beyond 10 volumes makes me think twice as I find that most lengthy series just drag unnecessarily. However, it was impossible for me to say no to Tsubasa, Sakura and Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura have been long-time favourite manga characters of mine, not to mention that I am generally very fond of CLAMP and all their big and small crossovers. Reading a story that combines almost their entire bibliography and with Sakura and Syaoran as the main characters was too good to say no to. It should also be mentioned that this series is heavily interwoven with xxxHolic's plot and should best be read alongside each other.
This Syaoran and Sakura are not the same from Cardcaptor Sakura (although the original Sakura makes a cameo). In essence, this is a story about travelling between dimensions - the same person can exist in different versions of themselves in different universes. Sakura and Syaoran travel between the different worlds - all very different - and meet characters and elements from all across CLAMP's other works. In fact, some characters appear more than once to highlight how the same being can exist and lead a different life in different worlds. It's really fun to see the characters from other stories living different lives, some are funny and some are bittersweet. CLAMP has killed off a fair amount of its characters in other works so it's nice to see some of them leading happier and peaceful lives.
In addition to meeting a whole lot of known characters, there are also a couple of Tsubasa original characters such as Fay and Kurogane who accompany Sakura and Syaoran on their travels. I've grown to love Fay and Kurogane almost as much as I love the other two - so while Tsubasa is very much a homage to other CLAMP works, it's also a very character-driven story with both Fay and Kurogane having intricate and deep personalities. I also have to express my apologies to Kurogane - I always expected not to like him because I'm not very fond of brawns-over-brains type of characters, but I was very wrong about him; great character, smart as well a strong and just a really great guy.
Being a work of CLAMP, it's almost needless to say that the art is beautiful. That being said, this is more of a shounen-esque series which also shows in the art with the somewhat oddly length limbs and a greater focus on action, weapons and muscles. I prefer shoujo art, but the facial art is much the same as other CLAMP works so I can absolutely live with that.
A downside of Tsubasa is plain and simple that it gets confusing. There are time skips, world switching, doubles across different series (xxxHolic) and rather vague motivations from the villain's side. At some point, I just decided to go with the flow rather than trying to make sense of every detail. There's a bit of a loose end, though I wouldn't exactly call it a band ending either. Now that they are working on a sequel, it'll be interesting to see where things will lead to next.
Either way, an absolute gem if you like CLAMP and crossovers, and Sakura, Syaoran, Fay and Kurogane are just a great team of characters - to be fair, Mokona is as much part of the team and deserves a mention too. Finally, I just love these characters.

Nggak di kisah aslinya, nggak di Tsubasa, ending buat Ashura dan Yasa teteeeep aja tragis. Raja Yasa rupanya sudah lama meninggal. Sosoknya saat ini mewujud berkat ilusi yang ditimbulkan bulu sayap Sakura. Ashura akhirnya mengambil bulu sayap itu dan mengembalikannya kepada Syaoran. Setelah itu ia menguasai kastil bulan dan memohon agar Raja Yasa bisa hidup lagi. Namun, permohonannya terlalu berat untuk dikabulkan sehingga kastil itu pun runtuh. Ashura tak mau ikut para anak buahnya menyelamatkan diri.
Setelah itu barulah Syaoran tahu bahwa Kurogane dan Fye yang jadi anak buah Raja Yasa sebenarnya adalah para rekannya. Hanya saja, keduanya sengaja berpura-pura tidak mengenal Syaoran agar Syaoran bisa menghadapi mereka dengan serius dan dengan begitu meningkatkan kemampuan pedangnya. Di sini bagian bahwa Kurogane tidak bisa berkomunikasi dengan Fye karena Mokona tidak ada bersama mereka, diperkuat lagi. Retcount terus, ya. Ahahaha. Kayaknya banyak yang mempertanyakan ini kali, ya.
Syaoran nggak nyangka bahwa kata-katanya kepada bawahan Ashura-ou akan mengubah masa depan di negeri Shara. Kata-kata itu adalah: Jika kalian menemukan sisa-sisa dari dua raja ini di reruntuhan kastil bulan, pastikan untuk menguburnya secara bersama-sama. Jangan sampai terpisah.
Rupanya permintaan Ashura kepada Yuuko sebelum kastil bulan runtuh adalah: "Jadikan aku dan Yasa para dewa bagi generasi selanjutnya. Sebagai pertanda bahwa ada permintaan yang tak bisa dikabulkan oleh dewa."
Begitu tim Syaoran kembali ke masa kini, negeri Shara sudah damai. Kedua patung Yasa dan Ashura diletakkan secara berdampingan. Dan karena itu, gempa tidak terjadi, sehingga para warga Yuukaku District dan Shara Shrine pun tak punya alasan untuk bertikai lagi. Kekuatan Yuuko ternyata bisa sampai mengubah takdir dan linimasa.

Namun, di tengah balapan, angin kencang bertiup dan membuyarkan sebagian besar peserta. Mampukah tim Syaoran memenangkan Dragon Race?

We finish up the Shara arc in a neat little bow and travel to Piffle, aka a fluffier version of Futurama. I really like how Shara ended. It's very interesting to consider how our heroes are affecting the worlds they come across, and I especially like that Fai's response to Syaoran's concerns is that they are just going to have to live with it. They can't stop searching for the feathers, and no matter how hard they try, they will always meddle in some way on every world. I'm glad that CLAMP didn't delve too deeply into the ramifications of messing with the time-stream, especially since most of their reasoning behind certain rules is "just because" and the Rule of Cool.
It still amazes me how the authors are able to create a unique feel for each world. Every country has different outfits, climates, laws, magic, etc., and it makes every part of the journey feel special. That being said, I'm getting a little sick of Syaoran waking up and having the plot delivered to him by another character (Fai). Show, don't tell, CLAMP! I understand it's easier to just say they have to join the race rather than go through the motions of having them adjust to a different world, but it's better than just dropping me in halfway!
Tomoyo shows up again, and this time she has a speaking role! I absolutely love her character, and the little ways that CLAMP plays with expectations and jokes about her enthusiasm for Sakura are great. We also get a glimpse of Fai's darker side, and I like that Kurogane is one of the few people that is allowed to see this. Even when he appears to be distracted and only focused on his goal, Kurogane is always watching.
I'm enjoying the race so far, and kind of love how Sakura breaks every rule-set she's thrown into because of how powerful she is; it's hilarious. Looking forward to the next volume, can't wait to see who wins!

Luego de varios enfrentamientos entre los clanes, se revela que Yasha es una ilusión creada de la pluma de Sakura, ya que el había muerto debido a una enfermedad antes de la llegada de la pluma a esa dimensión. Por lo tanto Ashura se enfrenta a la ilusión y termina con ella entregándole la pluma a su dueña.
Después el grupo se reencuentra y son transportados de nuevo a el país de Shara, en donde notan grandes cambios, ya que el distrito no se encuentra dividido entre el santuario y la gente de Yuuka. Y se enteran que viajaron al pasado y reescribieron la historia del país, permitiendo que Ashura y Yasha permanecieran juntos.
El próximo viaje los lleva al país Piffle, en donde todos van participar en una carrera para ganarse la pluma de Sakura que es el premio más codiciado. Y el volumen termino en suspenso, ya que no se sabe quién ganó la carrera preliminar.

Sin saber dónde se encuentran sus compañeros, Sakura, Mokona y Xiaolang siguen a Ashura para poder sobrevivir y entender dónde están metidos. La batalla entre los clanes es salvaje y Ashura, en medio de la batalla, consigue que la pluma vuelva a su origen natural. Tras esto, los protagonistas se reúnen al completo y vuelven al lugar donde apareció la grieta.

I love this series! Each volume brings new worlds, characters, lore and mysteries.
The whole concept of being transported to the floating Moon Castle for a limited time to try to conquer it is magical. It reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, both with the moon and the only having a short time to complete tasks, then going back multiple times to try again to get further.
I love Tomoyo, in this world and in Cardcaptors Sakura. In both she is Sakura's biggest fan and hype-person and loves to film!

Syaoran and Sakura do all they can to resolve the conflict between Yasha and Ashura, but even if they can find the answer, the journey is far from over as Mokona throws them into a world where the price of gathering another feather is winning a race atop futuristic machinery! CLAMP gives fans another exciting entry that ramps up the stakes and twists. Can Syaoran and the gang handle the shock of jumping into such an advanced realm?

With the battle for the Moon Castle coming to a tragic end, Syaoran & co are reunited and faced with the fact that their visits to world that aren't their own has more impact than Syaoran first thought.
The plot keeps on trucking and I keep enjoying it! Especially Fai getting to have a very serious, dark moment, if only for one panel. Liking the variation of a more science fiction setting. On to the next volume!

This series is so all over the place! The past and present and everything in between is completely mixed it is a bit hard to follow but also exciting.
But the best part of this volume as to be the new place they landed in. It’s a futuristic world and there’s some faces we know from previously even if they are new persons all together is nice to see them, especially Tomoyo! I’m excited for this world!

Un tomo regular. No hay mucha acción pero sí un avance en la historia. Comienzan a aparecer personajes ya conocidos y por fin Tomoyo hace su aparición con la personalidad con la que todos la conocemos y amamos.

Me gustó el cambio en el giro de las dimensiones te hace replantearte y si se podía haber cambiado el tiempo o como podemos hacer pequeñas cosas que a futuro cambiará el destino de varias personas. Pero la historia corta de al final como estilo detective fue perfecto sin duda.

I'm glad we've moved on to a new storyline, but the idea of changing timelines is really interesting and I'm sure will come back to affect things in the future.
