Jody Palmer was the most popular girl in her class. She had everything going for her. Until that awful day two years ago. How could she forget Bubba Barris holding the knife dripping with her boyfriend Timothy's blood? She had made sure that Bubba was put away for it.
Now Bubba's back in town, and term is about to begin. He's coming to get her...
I think this will be the last Terror Academy book I re-read for awhile. While I actually like this one, and think it held up okay, these are just not nearly as good as I remember them being. I remember loving this series, and re-reading them is kind of ruining that.
I would have given this book five stars if not for some overuse of a certain word toward the end that just made me a little uncomfortable...
Other than that it was a good follow up to the first book in the series, Lights Out.
Jody Palmer is hoping to have a great senior year once the Labor Day weekend is over and school starts back up again. Anything to help her try and forget what happened two years ago.
A new relationship with a boy all the girls want comes crashing to an end once Jody sees the newspaper. Robert "Bubba" Barris is out from behind bars.
Her testimony sent him to jail for the vicious knife attack on her boyfriend, Timothy McIntyre. Jody saw him with the bloody knife before she found her boyfriend stabbed and bleeding. Bubba tried to rob his father's store and Tim tried to stop him, almost dying but now only mentally damaged by the attack.
That day in court, Bubba threatened he'd come after Jody someday as he was lead away and now he's out. His sentence cut short on good behavior Bubba is going to be coming back to Central Academy and how can Jody avoid him?
She can't let Bubba get to her but he's crazed and angry...what is Jody going to do?
Jody starts out as one of those girls you think will be so weak and whiny and running around scared all the time. At first, she is kind of isolated and mopey but once her feisty best friend Sarah saves her from Bubba...it changes her. Jody gets a lust to put Bubba through all the pain he's caused her in a way that is a thousand times worst.
You can understand and root for Jody...you can sympathize with her.
Once we get to the climax, the reveal, the big twist so to speak...it really made my jaw drop! Not that it was original and creative but just so brutal and twisted!
It lead to an epilogue that brought about a normal and typical ending with some positivity and quips but the journey to that final act was suspenseful and riveting.
The sneak preview of Stalker made me search forever to find a decently priced copy and if you can have the same luck as I did to find any of the Terror Academy books, I highly recommend Stalker as a good read.
Second book in the Terror Academy books follows Jody who we find out used to date Timothy but because of a violent crime that she was a witness to the aftermath put Bubba in a juvenile detention facility and left Timothy changed. The book starts out at an end of the summer party where the Jody and her friends are celebrating the upcoming senior year. (Even though the series takes place at the same Central High School, each book has a separate class like it’s a whole new school year) At the party Jody finds out Bubba is being released and is going to be going to her school. Senior year is gonna be ruined. Just like the first book Jody is not a fun person and is a jerk to her bff Sarah, I mean it does seem like Bubba is stalking her and causing trouble. But damn Jody don’t be such a bitch. When she finally decides she needs help her and Sarah make up and she comes up with a plan to stop Bubba once and for all. Except it’s not that simple, and the last minute twist was out of no where and kind of dumb in my opinion. I liked this book a bit more than the first one so like a 3.5 that I rounded up, but barely deserves that.
I read this book around the time I started to read RL Stine. If you like RL Stine you should give these a try. It's been a while since I've read the book, but I remember that I enjoyed it. Sorry I can't really give any details. When/if I reread this, I'll make sure to update this.
