I liked this short Greywalker story about a ghost asking Harper to investigate his death. It is not what you would expect. It gets a too easy resolution though. To avoid a spoiler I'll just say that those people in the end of the story accepted everything that's being told too easily. I love this world and series. I love the type of heroine Harper is.
I really like the series and I loved this short story. It was a free download from Kat Richardson's website. I love the way Harper interacts with the ghosts in the Grey. Harper gets "hired" by a ghost who says that "they killed me". He seems to be stuck in a loop and she can't really get anymore information out of him. She does get his name and finds out that he had died two years ago from cancer. Or so everybody thought. After speaking to the doctor and a nurse at the hospital, Harper goes to see the family and finds out exactly why the ghost wants his murder solved. A very quick read and a very enjoyable read.
68 points/100 (3.5 stars/5) [rounded up because I liked it].
A ghost comes to Harper to stop his family who killed him.
I really liked this short story. I liked the end result, that is something I have never seen before in urban fantasy to my knowledge. This is really short, and doesn't exactly go any one place in the series. However, it is good. Better than some of the books in the series.
It was a nice story but I thought it was a bit too rushed near the end. The mystery was solved way too fast. One page Harper was still putting the pieces together and then, bam, mystery solved.
Interesting, but not well told. It feels very much like some of the worse Sherlock Holmes stories, in that the answer was not earned. It just... happened.
