Hemlock Bay #2

Winter's Dream

Rate this book
Some nightmares never end...

When Bixby promised her freedom to a stranger from her nightmares in exchange for her brother, she had no idea it would completely ruin her life.

With her brother missing again and she and her grandma locked away, Bixby vows to somehow make things right for everyone.

But fate- or Jordan- interferes again and she finds herself even deeper in his world, once again without her freedom.

Can she be brave enough to defeat a curse that has haunted her family for centuries? Can she be strong enough to resist Jordan and his renewed attempts to win her over?

She had better hope so because it isn’t just her freedom she stands to lose this time- it’s her life as well.

Winter's Dream is the second book in The Hemlock Bay series.

First, I have to say what a fantastic author AJ is! She easily weaves a wonderful and exciting world with terrific characters! I was totally enthralled in this book and managed to read it in one full day...needless to say accomplishing nothing else! :)

The story is the continuation of the first book. In this book, I thought that there were some great character developments, some growing in some characters, and some clueless stale/refusing to grow characters. In general, I really enjoyed the journey and thought that story was fantastic!

The way the story ended, it kind of makes me wonder if there will actually be another book in the future. It almost felt like the characters had some unfinished business to attend to. Maybe it was intentional and it is a set up for future books, or, maybe we are supposed to use our own imaginations and determine what happens to these characters as time moves on. I am hoping there will eventually be another book!

The editing issues were annoying at times and sometimes I would be stuck on that one error in my brain way into the next few paragraphs. But, they didn't take away from the story, just distracted from it.

Overall, great 2nd, (last?) book in the series. I hope to see more of these characters again and the wonderful world they live in. It's just too much fun to leave!

You must read this book!

Title 4/5: I liked the title. It reminded me of twilight and new moon and eclipse and breaking dawn. These books have similar titles(the title was taken by something one of the characters said). So I totally adored the title.

Cover 0/5:The cover on the other hand I did not. Come on people I know you can do better than this....

Characters:

Bixby 3/5: She annoyed me so much with her stuborness not to forgive Jordan that I wanted to kill her!! What a b..tch I thought several times. You love him you idiot and boys do make silly things when they like a girl so come on!! Give us a break!! But still she is awsome character complete and interesting.

Jordan 5/5: I felt so sorry for him...So in love and because he messed a little bit he cant have a break. I really liked him.Well developed he is one of my favourite characters.

Lucas 5/5:I used to be so into Jordan until I met him. A hot cursed demon in love with someone, that might or might not be his salvation, that loves someone else. His story was even more interesting than Bixby's.

Overal 5/5: It was hard for me to start it but when I sat down and really really start reading it I was fascinated. This series gets better and better. I will definetelly continue it.

There is no build-up or slow burn to the romance. Bixby and Jordan love each other passionately because they do. There is no reason for it. The Djin world and people are not interesting or even that much different than the human world. There were lots of spelling and grammar errors--including with character names-- which made a smooth, uninterrupted read difficult. Bottom line, most of the characters' motivations are unclear.

Book Two in the Hemlock Bay series. "Winter's Dream" was pretty good. I think a little more detail about what was going on, maybe a little more explanation of who the Djinn really are would have added to the story. Still good YA paranormal. I will finish up the series hoping some loose ends will be tied up. Still a few editing issues with this one, not enough to bother me. Some mild swearing, and mild violence, no sexual content. I can recommend for teens and up.

This book went much faster than the first... meaning I liked it more! More action, more things to do. I enjoyed it. Worth the 3 bucks I spent on it. There were a few editing issues... missing words, wrong words... but it wasn't something that totally turned me off of the book either.

I'm still very interested in the story and the characters keep getting more complex as things are revealed; however, I am (again) more than a little disappointed at the way I was left hanging. Where is book 3?

I really enjoyed this book, but was a little disappointed with the ending...I really am hoping she ends up with Luka. Jordan is a jerk, it doesn't matter how much he loves her. I am excited for the next book though! Amber, please make her pick Luka!

A great sequel. Tied up lots of lose ends, but left some interest for another book. The first chapters where crazy-intense and it didn't really let up much after that!
