A great short story. It's a dark fantasy. We are taken to a different world, and the author did well in describing the surroundings, the various dark arts, and the characters' emotions.

Skerin is on a mission to recover something that was once his, but he will need to use all of his powers and skills to come out alive. The story is entertaining and thrilling. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I found it hard to follow in parts as there were many characters and it was sometimes hard to tell who was being referred to in the story. I would highly recommend this to fantasy fans.

Part fantasy, part thriller, total excellence! I was sucked in right from the first sentence. Lewis has an enviable command over language and is able to paint a vivid portrait with few words. I loved the world he created. I could feel the character's emotions and the impact of their actions. This is a short but powerful read.
