Karen Leabo ratchets up the suspense with a sexy tale of two people chasing tornadoes—and flirting with danger.

Roan Cullen isn’t used to feeling out of his depth. As a photojournalist, Roan travels the planet in search of trouble and chaos—and captures it all through the lens of his camera. But the woman leading him on his first-ever tornado chase makes him crazy. She’s subtle, mysterious, drop-dead gorgeous, and always in control. If the conditions are right, Roan could end up with some incredible photos—and a newly broken heart.

Victoria Driscoll is used to the “boys’ club” that is storm chasing, but the man she’ll be sharing the Chasemobile with for two solid weeks is unlike any of her meteorological colleagues—for a start, he’s far more handsome. But Roan Cullen is a brash risk taker, the exact opposite of Victoria with her precise measurements and forecasts. As tornado season ramps into high gear, the elements are all in place for a massive twister—and an electric, shocking connection between these two chasers.

It is so unfair...
I got this book not only because of the cover ,but because they do storm chasing and I have never read a book with this theme before.

My expectations were : risky situations, hot scenes, the heroes at least talking to each other more than in their mind and of course : Likable heroes. I mean its not like I had that big hopes...

Instead the heroine was someone who I couldn't stand. She started judging the hero since the first page and she went on to do it until the end. And after their first kiss when she started thinking later (because at least 70% of this book is done on their conversations with their brains) she was like " I let myself be seduced by him but I will not succumb again" and that was the part when I wanted to seriously dump this book.

The hero was easygoing and good and hot but I couldn't feel him,he was like the author added him at the last minute when she remembered she needed a guy at the book too.

And of course there is nothing even resembling action until the last 3 chapters when they get in a situation with a tornado and when the hero goes to save some people the heroine, of course, thinks:

"He hadn’t changed. He still had a death wish. And she couldn’t, wouldn’t, remain involved with a man who was set on self-destruction. She would have to break things off with him immediately. The longer she delayed, the more painful it would be. She would tell him the minute she saw him again.

If she saw him again."

Annnd that was the last of the book for me.

accidentally bought the wrong ebook (have to pay attention to the author next time!) so i had to read it anyway but it was not The Worst so ya know not the end of the world

obvs there was the overly flirty dude which is so standard for romance novels like idk if she's not interested step back perhaps! but he wasn't ultimately as bad as others i've seen. there was the "most women would have dissolved into tears after thirty seconds" nonsense which i could do without

and the language, again, i know it's standard for a lot of romance novels but "petals of her womanhood" is sooooooo embarrassing to read we don't need metaphors for it!

and lmao idc if authors think it's unsexy i would rather they just use protection please!! and for god's sake you had sex multiple times in one night and you're not even on the pill? girl.

and it later refers to her curssing at him during the tornado but she did not. do they think saying get your butt in the van counts as cursing. feels like a lot of romance novels somehow try to be like. weird and pure in this way because a good proper woman wouldn't ACTUALLY swear up a storm or whatever

did really like the line "no matter what you've done, or believe you've done, by simple virtue of the fact that you're human, you deserve to be loved." i think with a little more depth to it i could actually really appreciate the characters and their relationship but they themselves were a little two dimensional

and i had been appreciating that they weren't doing insta-love but then in the end they kinda did. i at least do find it more believable when characters quickly fall in love when they're spending this an extended period of time together in close quarters AND some stressful situations so it wasn't all bad

Hell on Wheels by Karen Leabo is a deeply and hot read about two emotionally scarred people that may just be able to heal each other.

Roan Cullen is a freelance photographer filmmaker and a daredevil. Everyone believes that he has a death wish, for he will do anything for his story. He has stayed behind during a hurricane in order to film as much as possible, he has jumped barricades in order to get close to an erupting volcano and many other stunts. Now his uncle has invited him to join him on a tornado chase and he can’t wait.

Victoria Driscoll has been chasing tornados with her mentor for a couple of years now. She tries to get time off from work when tornados are more likely to happen so she can go tornado chasing. But she doesn’t do it for the adrenaline, she does it for the knowledge of meteorology and to improve the ways it can be read. Read More...

I choose this book because of the chasing tornadoes theme. I must admit the cover was also a deciding factor . From the cover I was expecting more action packed drama. The main character was Victoria who chases storms for two weeks of the year. Her usual partner is sick and he organises his dare devil nephew to take his place. I think I expected there to be more action but in reality there would be long periods of just driving from on place to another. It would unrealistic to have them to get to every tornadeo every time . It is an okay read - I did also google some of the places to see what they looked like as I am not from the states - this gave me more of feel for what the landscape looked like.

synopsis:
victoria prepares for her annual tornado chase when she finds out that her usual partner isn't feeling well and can't go. fortunately, he has a replacement picked out. unfortunately, it's his adventure chasing grandson, roan. victoria likes things planned out and then followed through on. roan is more of a "see what happens" type of guy, as long as the thrills are there.

what i liked: the tornado chasing. i liked that victoria and roan both influenced the other.

what i didn't like: victoria's self-esteem issues. how many times do you have to be told to trust your instincts?

"Hell On Wheels" is a fast and easy read that didn't have my stomach all in knots from unnecessary tension.

I didn't like the female protagonist, Victoria, in the beginning but I did end up warming up to her in the end.

As for the male lead, Roan, I absolutely liked his character and sympathized with him at times.

Other than tornado chasing, if you're looking for a book that is action packed like how the title suggests then you are mistaken with this one so go in at your own risk of being unsatisfied. Otherwise, "Hell On Heels" is a great read!

This was my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the plot of storm chasing. The characterization was excellent. A nice break from a alpha hero. I found Roan to still be likable even though he obviously had some growing up to do. The heroine I connected to right from the start.

There was more dialogue than action but it worked very well for this particular story. 4 Stars.

I didn't realize this was a re-released. But whoa~ I love the cover!

I've been reading a lot of angst book lately and felt the need for a nice quick romance and this one did not disappoint me. It's not really an action pack story but their adventure with tornado chasing was quite surprising to read! This is an emotional journey and will definitely read more from Karen Leabo!

Fun tornado chasing romance

I liked the characters in the book, opposites yet similar. The premise of storm chasing was an interesting back drop. Recommend for a fun read.
