A gorgeously illustrated book by legendary Lebanese-American writer and mystic Kahlil Gibran, author of “The Prophet,” one of the best-selling books of all time.
Kahlil Gibran (Arabic: جبران خليل جبران) was a Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer. Born in the town of Bsharri in modern-day Lebanon (then part of Ottoman Mount Lebanon), as a young man he emigrated with his family to the United States where he studied art and began his literary career. In the Arab world, Gibran is regarded as a literary and political rebel. His romantic style was at the heart of a renaissance in modern Arabic literature, especially prose poetry, breaking away from the classical school. In Lebanon, he is still celebrated as a literary hero. He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet, an early example of inspirational fiction including a series of philosophical essays written in poetic English prose. The book sold well despite a cool critical reception, gaining popularity in the 1930s and again, especially in the 1960s counterculture. Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu.
Another poet I haven’t ever heard of, so this book has introduced me to another new writer to explore! I do love the information about the original author of the poem, these books are wonderful for inspiring new young people to grow a love for poetry.
Filled with very pretty watercolour illustrations and a collection of meaningful parables by Kahlil Gibran where every line is quotable and I wanted to save them all to reread later honestly, they’re so deep and thought provoking. The artwork was lovely aesthetically but doesn’t really add to the writing itself, and the illustrations didn’t seem massively relevant. But still a worthwhile little book to read, full of lovely short parables.
I absolutely love Kahlil Gibran and this book of Parables is wonderful! Each page is filled with thought invoking words and the best part is that you can enjoy it as an adult, teen or a parent looking to enjoy poetic wonder with their child
A poet I have never heard of but the information given was so nice! Such a quick read but each line was so memorable I wanted to save it and share it with everyone I know! It made me so very happy!
Thanks Amanda Callas for sending me this book to read in an electronic format. I really enjoyed the poems and sayings that were in this book. They were very lovely and meaningful to read. I loved the poem about paradise being behind the door. We just have to find the key to explore it. Or the one which looked at the heart being a volcano and how can we expect flowers to bloom was beautiful too. But it was the poem about us all being prisoners living in cells some with windows and some without. This was the one that sealed the decision of rating this book 5 stars. So moving, captivating and though provoking these pieces. Thank you again Amanda for this wonderful read.
The illustrations in this little book are just wonderful. Another poet that I was not familiar with #kahlilgibran a Lebanese/American who wrote The Prophet one of the bestselling books of all time.
#IfYourHeartIsAVolcano is stunning I loved it and will be reading again

This gave me sheer happiness and joy. Absolutely delightful and I found myself calmer as I continued to read. The illustrations are divine and add to the gorgeousness of this read. Beautiful, thought provoking and just so lovely.
I loved this read and so did my daughter! The parables were short and engaging for young readers. The illustrations will keep you coming back to read more too! Overall a great young kids book and I love this publishing company for little folks.
Great book. This is a book of parables meant for all ages. Thought provoking with great illustrations to go alongside it. I love how Little Owl House continues to bring wonderful literature from the past and introduce it to a younger audience.
If Your Heart Is a Volcano Parables is a cute book.
I enjoyed the watercolors, and the writing. I don't read a lot of Parables so I'm not the best judge but I liked it and would recommend it to other to read. My kids also enjoyed the book.
