Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber) was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.

With several artist co-creators, most notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor as a superhero, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, The Inhumans, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.

From my POV I think this is going to be a useful cookbook. I'm not drawing superheroes, but the basic system he has for drawing, from blobs and basic shapes to fully-colored figure, is a really useful conceptual framework! He shows how to get from the basic to the completely detailed, and how to add details and when.

It's not for everybody, and it's not fitting for every artistic process.

For me that's the value. His discussion of how and why to develop characters, that isn't of immediate use but it was interesting to get some perspective on comics. But I think the important thing is to look at the illustration builds, and imitate a few of them.

Good for conceptual phase of character building. Not a how to draw book though. It will give you a better understanding of comic character structure.
