In a desperate act of survival, Michelle slays a vampire queen, inheriting her power, her people and her progeny. What Michelle can’t know is that her triumph sends violent ripples through the supernatural world.
Across town, in a NY nightclub dedicated to dark desires and pulsing sexuality, the ancient blood-goddess Kali is struck down as a result of Michelle’s act of self-preservation. Kali wakes from the unwitting assault with a physical need for revenge and an immortal thirst for power—the death of the vampire queen gives Kali’s own evil plans a chance for new life.
Michelle and this cunning immortal are thrust against each other, not in a battle for survival alone, but for the power to rule a voracious army of the dead.
Now she is entangled in a web of deceit where lives, loves and destinies are changed forever or lost completely—where sex is as dangerous as a vampire’s bloodlust—and all actions can result in bitter consequences.
Haven't read anything that good about vampires in quite a while. The book is well written, although if there was a bit more of editing done it would have been better. I could also say that there are some unexplained things about how the main character learned of some things she should have no way of knowing and how she was able to plan very far ahead, but not many authors can grasp that elusive way of structuring their story in a way so as to make antihero's actions very predictable for the main character and at the same time make the reader not see the outcome of the story.
The story is heavy with sexual elements (it's basically erotica), BDSM and female domination, as well as lesbian themes, so if any of that offends you, it's not for you.
P.S. I sincerely hope this isn't the end of Michelle's adventures and that in the next story the author won't go the tried and tired way of having more enemies appear as a fallout of the main character's actions mere weeks after where this book ends.
P.P.S. It would be so exciting if Jong became a willing slave of Michelle's and stopped the constant plotting...
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It is quite a page turner and also very erotic. The characters are engaging and I liked the way they interacted. It moves fast. Even though it is a sequel to "Bitter Things", you don't need to have read the first book to get right into "Bitter Consequence." If you want to get your pulse pounding and your groove on, read this!
