Half-breed vampire Sarah has married her other half, William, and is now the mother of three-year-old twins with power that defies explanation. Aseret, the demon lord of the underworld, views the twins as a threat to his taking over the world. Sarah, William, and their shapeshifter friends must train the supernatural kids to prepare them for an inevitable encounter against Aseret. For Sarah, training isn’t enough and she relinquishes her body to a witch—the one who stole it before. Roaming the underworld as a ghost, Sarah searches for Aseret’s accomplice, before Aseret kidnaps, or worse, kills her children. But reconnecting to her body may be more difficult than Sarah expected. After all, there’s only space for one soul in a body, and they’re one body short.
Marta Szemik is an author and a writer. As a mom of two and a wife she enjoys using her family member's attributes in her writing - just because they are unique:) A great skier (in her kids eyes), she loves the outdoors. Very often she can be found daydreaming new worlds in front of her computer. Her favourite pass-time is sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee. Powerful writing with colorful characters who make you cry, laugh and wish they were real intrigue her. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and those very, very close to her know that she can make a joke out of almost anything, but she would suck as a comedian ;)
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the third book by Marta Szemik that I have had the pleasure of reviewing. This book is definitely new adult, verging on adult. This novel takes place more in the future then the last book. *Spoiler Alert* Sarah and William have children. Twins to be exact. But they are no ordinary twins. This book has quite a few secrets and mysteries that play out by the end of the book. This is a quick read, but it progresses a bit slow for me. All the old characters make appearances in this book, plus a few new faces. There is definite growth for the characters in this book from the second one. I found Sarah to have matured the most. Probably due to the fact that she is now a mother. You can feel the love that she has for the twins. William has also grown a lot. They are both willing to risk their lives for their children and for each other. I'm glad that Xander and Xela can finally be together and that everyone is happy for them. No one judges Xela for having the sphere tattoo. Eric has shown his worth quite a few times thought this book. I am actually starting to like him, not feel like he is a snake in the grass. Mira played more of a low key role in this book, hopefully we can see more of her in the next one. I also loved the twins but I don't want to give too much away. Overall a great read. Two Halves is still my favourite of the series. This one was just a bit slow. Otherwise I love where the series is going and the way the characters are maturing. Thanks again Marta for the opportunity to read and review another great book.
Two Equals was marvelous! It's about everything you'd want in a book. Although all of Marta's books were close to 5 stars, there was always something tiny missing, not that it's a bad thing. I mean, it could've been perfect, and it almost was! The characters were exceptional, the plot was terrific, I could leave a review that would be 19k+ characters on how much I loved this series, and book, but hey, I'd still be here when they finally invented flying cars!
Sarah and William's adventure was something that I kept safe in my heart, something that's unforgettable, for many readers, including myself, and I learnt, from Mira, that you should never say never! That's my main motto now, lemme tell you the truth. Eric, Sarah, William, Mira, Xander, the twins and the rest of the characters stunned me, in a fantastic way, because I'll never forget this book, and how it changed my life.
