I just want to say that I am a huge fan of the “Kingdom Hearts” games, as I played all of them (at least, the ones that came out on Playstation) and I enjoyed the game play and the storylines involved. So, imagine my surprise when I found out that they were making a manga series about the famous “Kingdom Hearts” games and I just had to pick this series up to see if it is just as good as the games were!

In this volume, Sora is separated from his friends Riku and Kairi when a terrible storm hits his home island and he is thrown into another world. In that world, Sora meets up with Donald and Goofy, who were travelling to other worlds to find King Mickey, who had suddenly gone missing. It was then that Sora, Donald and Goofy decided to work together to find both King Mickey and Riku and Kairi while Sora defends the world from the monstrous Heartless, using his newfound Keyblade.

Shiro Amano had done a fantastic job at adapting Tetsuya Nomura’s concept for the “Kingdom Hearts” video game series into manga format. I loved the fact that Shiro Amano made the manga faithful to the original games, with a few changes here and there, and it was great seeing my favorite characters from the “Kingdom Hearts” games come to life in manga format. I also loved the strong friendship built between Sora, Donald and Goofy as it was a hilarious yet heartwarming type of friendship as they were bonded when they were all trying to find people that they care about and I loved how this story emphasized the importance of friendship, even during rough times. But, what always intrigued me about the “Kingdom Hearts” series was the fact that we are able to see our favorite Disney characters intertwine with the characters from “Final Fantasy” and such. Even though Sora was a made up character for the “Kingdom Hearts” games, it was great seeing him mingle with other Disney characters such as “Hercules,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Aladdin.” It was also interesting that Shiro Amano made the manga version of “Kingdom Hearts” much funnier than the original games as Sora seems to act more childish in this version than in the games and I really enjoyed the hilarious bantering between Sora, Donald and Goofy. The artwork for this volume was extremely well done as the characters look both realistic and slightly exaggerated, which gives this volume a dramatic yet comedic feel.

Overall, “Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Volume One” is a fantastic volume for anyone who is a huge fan of the “Kingdom Hearts” games and I will definitely be checking out the second volume to this series! I would recommend this volume to children ages five and up since there is nothing inappropriate in this volume.

Note: I haven't played the games. So I'm judging this title as a manga by itself rather than based upon the storyline of the games.

I mainly read this because I've been intrigued by the Kingdom Hearts saga. My impression of it from reading this one volume is that it's basically Tsubasa (of CLAMP notoriety) on crack. Every couple of pages, the characters slide into a different world in order to a)lock the kingdoms from badness and b) pick up the Princesses (instead of golden Memory Feathers of Sakura variety). They haven't been very successful at the latter thus far, but given the way this series has been going, I really doubt anything too terrible will happen in the end. I finished this in one morning - a light, fluffy read, and because my particular volume was so crispy new from the library shelves, I loved sniffing the pages.

Tämä osui silmään kauppareissulla. Tuttu hahmo ja vieläkin tutumpi logo komeili kannessa ja pakkohan se oli ottaa mukaan 😅

Olen aikoinani pelannut muutamaakin Kingdom Hearts sarjaan kuulunutta peliä ja niistä onkin jäänyt hyviä muistoja. Muutenkin mangan ja Disneyn sekoittaminen on kiehtova ajatus ja toimii yllättävän hyvin.

Itse kirja oli nopea lukea ja kuvajälki oli siistiä. Muutenkin tykkään ajatuksesta, että tähän sarjaan kuuluu vain 3 kirjaa, jolloin koko sarjan kerääminen on helpompaa.

Tai niin sitä luulisi.... Kakkos osan piti ilmestyä 5.11.21, mutta eipähän ole vielä osunut silmään lehtihyllyllä 😕 Minne lienee jäänyt? 🤔 Toivottavasti löydän jatkoa, sillä tarina rullasi hyvin ja olisi kiva tietää, mitä seuraavaksi tapahtuu.

Honestly, the only difference between this and the original manga is the chapter "Beyond the Door Secret Place." The artwork is beautiful, if a bit cluttered and there are a few small changes here and there from the original manga, but nothing significant. Either way, whether you go with the original or Final Mix, you should definitely still play the game first. This is a companion piece for sure no matter how good it looks. I adore KH and reading these manga is always fun, however I hoped for a bit more extras since I've already read, and bought the originals. We'll see if there's a bit more in volume 2, but this was a pretty satisfying addition on my KH love.

A (mostly faithful, albeit condensed) adaptation of the Disney/Square Enix game. I love how this puts the plot of the popular game series into a straightforward and well done manga. The characters that we know and love are all there, with only the most minor changes to make them more appropriate for the format. A little less dramatic than actually playing the game and immersing yourself into the world, but if you're able to play the music while you read, you'll get as close as you can get to the overall feeling without actually holding the controller in your hand. This has me excited for the eventual game conclusion!

Me encanta. Los dibujos son muy Square Enix, pero mezclados con otro estilo que queda muy gracioso. La historia es tal cual la del juego, pero acostumbrada a echar bastante tiempo en los mundos, la trama va a toda castaña.

PD: Con lo que a mí me cuesta siempre vencer al Prestidigitador y viene Sora y con un hielo, lo despacha. Maldición.

Helped a lot that I've played the game, otherwise it would've been somewhat confusing because it was rushing through the events so fast. I would've liked more time to explore the different worlds (well, Wonderland in the case of this volume) and for the characters to establish themselves in this iteration even though most of them are familiar from other things.

4.5. Algunos agujeros en la trama y todo se desarrolla demasiado rápido. AUN NO PERDONO LA AUSENCIA DEL MUNDO DE TARZAN Y HALLOWEEN TOWN, pero a quien engaño, adoro este manga con todo mi ser, es una aventura sin igual con personajes adorables, no puedo no amarlo.
