I hated this book. I forced myself to finish it, but will definitely never read it again. I could believe none of the characters, or parts of the story. At times, I felt some of the characters acted in a way that would realistically never happen. For instance, on their way to a class trip in the Bahamas, the plane crashes and Janice and Mr. Rush are the only 2 survivors. They end up on a deserted island, have no idea what they will eat for days at a time, until they accidentally stumble onto a food source. Not knowing when they will eat next, instead of looking for food, they decide they will make out under a tree all day. Real people would not act that way, in that situation. There were several instances like this in the book.

Apart from the unbelievable story, there is moral issues with this too. It is revealed while on the island, that for some time, Mr. Rush, the high school teacher, and Janice, his underage student, have had crushes on each other. We know things like this happen in the real world, but do we really want to glorify it by making a love story of it? Also, Janice is raped by her father and brother.... again, we know bad things like this happen, but the author goes into graphic detail about the incidents, which I felt totally unnecessary, and then there is the comment after the incidents, stating if one liked those things, how could she judge? Totally inappropriate, and sick too. I would not recommend this book to anyone-- it was not worth the time spent reading.

A troubled student, and her teacher are the only survivors of a plane crash. These two have to band together after this field trip gone wrong, and survive on a deserted island. I actually really enjoyed this story. It is a very slow build, and the side plots are OTT angsty and suspenseful. If you don't like over the top angst, and a slow slow build romance... then you may want to give this one a pass. It reads very much like a mature YA fanfic, and you can tell by the length that this was published on Wattpad first.

Extremely angsty with a slow build. If you like mature YA, and can handle the slow... I'd highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this book! This book is a longer book on Wattpad being 428 pages but I loved it! If you don't like slower paced books then this book isn't for you. Janice and Mr. Rush are stuck on island alone after their plane crashes in the ocean. They both have complications in their lives they're sort of happy to be able to get away from it all, but when they share some of their secrets it has an affect on the other. I didn't know how they were going to have a relationship because of all the complications that keep them apart. They had to go through so much to be together, but I loved their relationship because they were there for each other and helped the other through and loved each other so much. This book is for MATURE READERS as it is rated R on Wattpad by the author. This my second time reading it as I read it several months ago and loved it just the same!

Island Rush? More like Island Dawdle.

Before I start I would like to say one thing.
Please, do not waste your precious time on this book.
I'm one of those forgiving people who want to see the good in things, which is why I wanted to finish this book. I wanted so bad for it to get better, but I was hugely disappointed.

The grammar and spelling is horrendous. Constantly, the writer is mispelling the simplest words, such as shined. The wrong your/you're to/too hear/here is constantly used, making the book an effort to understand. The sentence structure is completely wrong, with no consideration of effect on the reader.

The excessive detail was the worst, I think. 90 chapters, and I think about 30% of it was worth reading. It was day by unnecessary day. No one cares about Janice's photography, no one wants to read through paragraphs and chapters filled with their attempts of building a shelter. It could've been summed up in one paragraph, tops. Everything was explained. Regular readers get pretty good at reading through the lines, we don't need it spoon fed to us.

Now, for the plot. Completely unrealistic. Never, in a million years, would an attractive teacher fall so deeply for a student BEFORE he got to know her. It just wouldn't happen. When he's professing his love to her on the island, it's almost laughable. It sounds like the diary dreams of a teenage twit, drooling over her teacher and imagining situations where he has been drooling all over her too. This Janice, from what the book told us, was a stuck up brat who made vile comments to her teacher. What on earth is desirable about that?

The whole father background is messed up and unrealistic. No way that level of abuse could be hidden for so long. There would be endless searches and interviews. No man could have such connections across the police force, it would be found out if it ever DID happen, much quicker than it did. And when did a man ever change from a loving father to an abusive rapist that fast? Come on, author.

Janice is an irritating brat. She's not strong, that was proven in the final chapters of the book. She's an attention seeking, annoying, whiny, silly little girl. I was sick of her from the start. Plus, the way she always refers to her butt as an 'ass'? Girl, where is your self respect?

Don't even get me started on the cringy paragraphs of speech that Janice and Casey share. No couple speaks like that. And the way everyone refers to their relationship as never seen before? Please, give me a break. They, as a couple, are a major cringe.

Spoiler:
The scenes near the end with her dad and brother are vile. Absolutely sickening. The author wrote two chapters of it, describing everything in even more detail than before. We don't want to hear about Janice's Father pushing himself into her, calling her 'Daddy's bad girl'. They could have been shortened easily to something more subtle and suggestive, rather than a full on sexual description. You know what sickened me further? The author, at the end of the chapter, wrote, and I quote, "But if you liked the situation, hey, I won't judge ;)" Vile.

So yes, I hated this book. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with half a brain. Go read something actually worth your time and energy, because I assure you, nothing will be more draining and cell-killing than Island Rush.

I read this book a year ago and completed it in 3-4 days. I only slept for 5-6 hours those night since I had college to attend in the morning. This book was the first one which I added in my best of the best reading list. I remember crying while reading since the author explained every scene so well. I loved every bit of it. And most favorite part of the book is its last chapter. I read some reviews below and I totally disagree with them. First of all, life is not what you expect. There are so many things that happen in your life which you never expected. The same happened with Janice, she never in a million years thought that she would stuck on an Island with her teacher. It's all unexpected.
I would recommend every one of you to read this book, not only because its super amazing, but also because this books gives you some wild scenes to imagine. Just thinking about the beautiful views of Island.
I loved this book so much. I am so happy that its getting published but a small part of my heart is sad because majority of the chapters will be removed from Wattpad. This book is so special to me in so many ways. I have so many memories with it. Love this book and totally love its author. She's and amazing person and I hope to meet her in person one day.

2.5 Stars!

I'm somewhere stuck between thinking the story was okay/liking it, hence the .5 star between the "it was okay" and "i like it" rating.
The somewhat low rating isn't strictly due to the storytelling overall, but mostly because there were parts of the story that I didn't personally enjoy. That being said, I'll share my thoughts on the writing/storytelling itself and the plot.

As for the writing, it wasn't that bad. Grammar wise there were a lot of mistakes, some understandable and some questionable. Before I started reading the story in ebook form, I learned that this is a story that was originally written and finished on Wattpad so I can understand why there are some grammar mistakes/typos (I'm sure the idea of going back to revise over 60+ chapters doesn't sound appealing at all). The grammar mistakes I question though are the wrong words used like your instead of you're (plane/plain, knew/new, two/too, brake/break, etc.). If it happened once in a while, I wouldn't have worried about it much. However, it happened repeatedly so it kind of threw me off whenever reading some sentences. Some scenes also felt either dragged out or unnecessary (unnecessary as in they didn't really need to be included not that they don't serve some kind of purpose at all). But as I mentioned earlier, this story is originally from Wattpad so I can understand the extension and "unnecessary" scenes since the author was somewhat going with the flow of the story and seeing where it leads (hence the very long length of the story).

The storytelling wasn't that bad either. I'd say it's well written (aside from grammar mistakes). Everything is detailed, though I felt there were some plot holes/missing details here and there. One example is how Casey is teaching at the age of 23. I know teaching at that age isn't impossible, but I would've liked to know how he managed that rare feat (or at least it's rare to me since I've never met a high school teacher in this day and age who teaches that young without some explanation about how they graduated a young age or something).

Now for the plot...
I felt that there were some aspects of the story that were a little out there. One being Janice and Casey's resourceful wits on the island. I don't mind the clever innovations they came up with after being on the island for , but I thought it was strange for them to come up with some of their innovative ideas in like the first week they were stranded (at least if I was keeping track of time correctly in the book). I'm not saying it's impossible for people to become that clever in a short time (especially when life or death is involved), but Casey and Janice (especially Janice) don't seem like the type to be able to quickly come up with a solution when stranded on an island (based off what we learn about them in the beginning of the story). Janice's idea about the grass coffin is one example. In most of the tv shows I've seen where someone is stuck in a situation similar to theirs, I've never seen one be quick witted enough to make a coffin like that as they usually just either "bury" them with rocks or just find a place for them to be considered their burial.

As for characters, I have conflicted feelings towards Janice.

As for recommending this book, you need patience. Lots of it. I read this story on calibre so I don't know how many pages it would appear on other reading devices/apps, but on calibre the story was 1957 pages long (I kid you not). If you want to finish this story in a few days, I suggest you not because I think it would ruin the story if you try to cram it all in very quickly (not to mention it is pretty tiring). With the story being close to 2000 pages long, that means the story line is long as well. If you can't handle a story that follows closely to a day by day basis (only once or twice skipping, at most, 4-5 days), then this story may not be for you because everything (conflicts, resolutions, questions being answered, etc) happens slowly. Also, I'd recommend this story for those 17+. 75% of the story is pretty much PG 13, but when it comes to 2 sexual scenes and 20% of the last part, I'd consider it at some level of rated R. This is a tiny spoiler, but if you have a very strong dislike for detailed rated R violence, I recommend you don't read the story as the violence is necessary in the story (if you don't mind getting a small spoiler, then read what kind of violence I'm talking about here . For the romance and student/teacher relationship aspect, if you like both, this story would be of interest to you (especially if you're a gushy romantic). Another thing to be notified about is the drama. There's always conflict waiting around the corner so if you don't mind being bombarded with one problem after another, this story is for you. Also, if you're okay with some parts stretching reality a bit, then you should be fine.

That being said, though I don't love this book, I did enjoy some parts of it. This particular story wasn't completely for me, but I do hope the author continues to write more stories as there is a lot of potential for more great stories.

I read this fascinating book on Wattpad before it was popular. It was rough at first, because "JadedViolet" (a.k.a. Miz Dore) could have used to hire a proofreader and left out some of the personal notes. But as far as Wattpad stories went, it was one of the best out there. Dore was able to weave a complex emotional scale into a survival tale that transcended logic or rationality. The main character, Janice, was easy enough to relate to in that she was a high school senior with an attitude and a grudge against the world, though not your average Mary-Sue YA heroine. The plot development was slow and believable, happening on a progressive and methodical scale that enhanced the story. Throughout the development of Janice's traumatic backstory, it became harder and harder to relate, for better or worse. The story started to break down the more was revealed about Janice. At times, the dark melodrama and emotional damage Janice deals with seem almost ultracrepidarian and a little forced, and the twist ending with the sexual violence she undergoes is on a level of imbecilic and unnecessary. Casey Rush's personality is a little too Clark Kent (goody-goody, perfect man) for my taste, though he too dealt with his own flaws and shortcomings. I do wish there had been some follow-up with his ex-fiancee after they returned from the island, and I do firmly believe the story would be better off without the rape scenes, thank you.

I love this book. I've read it so many times on wattpad. One day, I was going through my archive and it was there. I noticed the warnings about it being deleted because of it was soon to be published. I just right then and there to read it again. I do not regret it and you won't either! It happens to be a quite a ride, it'll have you itching for more. I love it so much. When it get published June 19th, I believe, don't hold back. Buy this baby here! You won't regret it once again! Soon I hope this wonderful book, Island Rush, comes out on paperback. I know I'll be buying it to put on my book shelf. It definitely deserves five stars after how hard this author worked on this book. BTW, Handcuffed is great too. ;) Though there are some people that disagree. There is rape in this book, but it isn't something people should hate for on this book. It might've been in detail but it was needed in my opinion. To see the pain the main character was going through, to see her story, I wouldn't listen to the negative comments. Overall on my part, I enjoyed this book. So give it a try. I would appreciate it, so would the author. It tells Janice's story, it's emotional, yes, but the only way you'll understand is if you read. You'll understand what's in the story and why.

To me, this is a 5 star story but the pace is a bit slow and it could use a good editor. I also feel that the story might be more believable if the father and brother were depicted as less 'mafia' and, perhaps, also 'step' relations instead of biological.

That said, I loved the author's style, the characters, and the plot. Though the pace was slow, I was intrigued by the characters' life on the island, and how they evolved into stronger people because of it. The characters seemed very realistic to me and, for the most part, their thoughts and feelings were true to life. The author's descriptive style is so detailed that I could picture each scene in my head. I won't go into detail as to spoil the read, but I will say that I wouldn't mind visiting that island for a nice, long vacation... with a resort full of food, of course. No raw fish or snake for me.

Island Rush is a special book I read on Wattpad many years ago. It's a kind of story that I have never seen done before, and it is so unique that I wish I could revisit it over and over again. When I read the story, I was taken on an adventure on an island with two very different characters that I fell in love with a thousand times over. They touched my heart in many ways. I swooned with them, cringed with them, my heart broke with them. This is something that should be read by the people who enjoy a fresh take on a student/teacher romance. But it's more than that. It's a survival story, a love story, a relatable story.

I hope to hold a physical copy of this book in my hands one day.

This was my favourite book from wattpad in 2013, read it a good three or four times. I enjoyed every chapter, it was very dark, emotional and slow paced but that made me enjoy it more because then I could savour the characters for a bit longer. To this day I still remember most of the scenes and I also remember crying a lot. This book holds a piece of my heart no one else can reach. :D

A little lacking

This was a decent storyline. Although at times I felt that the whole thing was dragging so very slowly. Too much detail where it didn't need to be and not enough detail in parts that could use it.
There were so many grAmmatical errors that several times I wanted to just give up. So like I said this book left a lot to be desired.

I read this book about a year ago on WATTPAD. And I loved it! She is such an amazing writer, that it was easy to fall in love with all of her work. I've often told her she should publish her work because she is that good! She is by far one of my favorite writers!

I actually could finish this book. I found the cover more believable and intriguing than the book. There were just too many plot-holes and things that made no sense. There are much better easier ways to write about getting water on a deserted island than licking the grass. That wouldn't be enough to sustain yo at all. Also the back story didn't make much sense either. It dragged and with all of the questionable things I couldn't finish it. I rarely ever don't finish a book, even if there are editing errors. Don't bother picking this one up!

So bad it was good

You know how sometimes a book is so bad it's good that is this. The premise was good but it was so wordy and needed editing very badly plus a lot of things did not make sence.they are rescued and goes to new York not nausea Bahamas . Then instead of getting checked out she is interrogated by the airline please they would not get near her til.the n s n n would talk to her the whole thing with her father and brother did not make sense very bad book

This was fun to read in the aspect of being in the island but once they left .....I was like why , ughhhhhh.......
I mean I would have loved if she made a murder mystery about the heroine story in a complete different book and that would be interesting.Rather then having a crazy family , forbidden romance and stuck on the island .... That is interesting don't get me wrong ....only if executed in a better way for sure .

A MUST READ!

I first read this book YEARS ago on Wattpad and fell in love!

Once it had picked up in popularity and was then published (and removed from Wattpad) I was destroyed!

Unfortunately I forgot the title of the book for years, and only recently remembered the title; so I looked it up on Amazon and bought it straight away!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book; it’s beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming all in one!

I’m so happy to have this book back in my library again 💕💕
