This fantasy story is definitely not like any I’ve read before and I think that’s what makes it stand out. Alter egos are often standard for superheroes from other worlds but Matt is simply a man looking for vengeance against the cruel Clans that control his city and have stolen his true love from him. His struggle to find the means for vengeance leads him to embrace a darker side of his mind, one that gives him incredible strength though he must learn to control it before it controls him. Understand, this is a dark story that is only just getting started with this book. It is an intense ride through some of the most brutal battles Matt and his friends must face in their quest to free their city. Friends are lost, some enemies are conquered and yet others rear their heads in their bid for power. Much will have to happen in the coming stories for the war against evil to be completely won. But with the help of his incredibly loyal best friends, Matt, and his city, might just win their freedom and find peace.
(A couple issues [not related to the plot]I had with this book were the formatting that was sometimes wonky and the odd phrasing of some descriptions- this may have come from translation or similar processes).

This was an amazing story. It kept me captivated from the first sentence. Highly recommend it. Matt is a force to be reckoned with.

I was enthralled to read this book after reading the dedication. It was written with such passion and emotion that I just knew there was a cracking story awaiting to be unearthed.
The author really brings life to the characters with his incredible world building and so many describtive emotions. The main male character Matt, after suffering at the hands of the Cobra Clan, and under immense emotional strain, discovers the rising of his doppelganger in order to seek his revenge and right the wrongs his city has been forced to endure at the hands of criminality. Matt struggles with doing what's right for everyone, and not just what he would love to act out in revenge for what has broken his heart.
For a debut novel, the author has written a well thought out storyline with descriptive characters and emotions. It was such an action packed read and I was left surprised by the ending. I didn't realise there would be a second book and I look forward to reading the next installment of what is in store for Matt and his friends.

This is Mattia's debut novel! It's a action packed sci-fi fantasy with great character development and suspense. There is bullying and death if those could be triggers for you but also love and friendship! This story is too be continued!

Ho accettato la collaborazione per questo libro perché la trama mi aveva davvero incuriosito, e ancora oggi dopo averlo letto… continua ancora a incuriosirmi il modo in cui è stato costruito.
Per quasi metà del libro, la trama sembra quella di un romanzo di formazione in cui vengono trattati temi importanti e molto attuali come quello del bullismo e della violenza..
Ma dalla seconda metà, la storia si arricchisce dell’elemento fantascientifico che ne da una nuova connotazione.
Vengono approfonditi il tema dell’amicizia e dell’amore.. forse spinti un po’ troppo in là per quello che è il mio gusto personale, e poi vengono ripresi i temi iniziali, che si arricchiscono di nuovi contenuti e fatti.
La trama di per se è molto semplice e lineare, ma la presenza di numerose descrizioni la rende più appetibile.
Non ho amato particolarmente il protagonista, mentre mi sono affezionata di più a personaggi secondari, ma nel complesso mi sento di consigliarlo a tutti quelli che vogliono una lettura fuori dagli schermi!
Molto interessante la figura del doppelgänger, che simboleggia un po’ la luce e il buio che stanno dentro ognuno di noi.. questo parallelismo che la fa da padrone nel libro l’ho trovato spiegato bene e dettagliato!
Bello poi il colpo di scena finale, devo dire che non me l’aspettavo proprio!
E ora non resta nulla da fare se non attendere che quel “continua…” finale prenda forma!

Trama:
Ambientato nella città immaginaria di Vicary City, governata dietro le quinte dai clan Cobra e Spyder, "Kindred
Warriors" segue il protagonista Matt mentre affronta il suo tormentato
passato di bullismo inflitto da Jacob, il rampollo della famiglia Cobra,
destinato a prendere in mano le redini del clan. Quindici anni dopo, il destino li riunisce durante una rimpatriata scolastica e, in un crescendo di tensione, Matt si ritrova nuovamente nel mirino, ma questa volta le cose sono diverse, visto che, durante questo lasso temporale, Matt si è allenato nell'antica arte della boxe.
La rimpatriata scolastica finisce nel diventare una rissa senza esclusione di colpi e Jacob ha inizialmente la peggio, ma l'affronto non poteva essere perdonato, in quanto avrebbe compromesso il prestigio e l'autorità del suo clan. In virtù di ciò, Jacob decide di colpire il punto debole di Matt, la sua fidanzata Marty, uccidendola a sangue freddo. Innanzi tutto la scrittura è molto scorrevole e coinvolgente, nella storia ci sono molti colpi di scena che ti tengono incollati alle pagine. È un libro davvero carino da leggere. L’unico difetto che ho trovato sono i capitoli troppo lunghi a parer mio, ovviamente però la storia rimane comunque bella, ma questa è una mia preferenza. Ringrazio l’autore per la collaborazione ❤️

Bullying, oppression, crime, action, bloodshed, dark fantasy elements, brotherhood, love and loss.
This book started off light and carefree. The main character is an all-around good guy subjected to oppression and horrible bullying from such a young age. I did appreciate that when it came to bullying, the author doesn't just give you a little snipet of it but writes about how extensive bullying can be even at such a young age. I loved the brotherhood that formed between Matt and his friends! However, the love and loss Matt endures is quite extensive and would leave anyone in a pit of deep dark depression. Now, for me, the highlight of this whole story is the alter ego! The way the dark fantasy element was introduced into this story really is something I have not read before, which was nice from a readers perspective. Without giving away anything from the book, I've got to say that this author has a unique talent regarding how he writes scenes of action and bloodshed, and it is absolutely phenomenal! The characters in this story will grow on you. You will hate and loathe the villans, and the action and suspense will leave you hooked! I did enjoy reading this book, and I look forward to reading future books from this debut author.

La copertina è stupenda, la scrittura fluida, i personaggi interessanti. Questo libro mi ha rapita. La storia originale offre un mix di azione, suspense e tematiche molto attuali.
Ti trasporta in un mondo di azione ma anche emozioni e terrà incollato fino all’ultima pagina.

If you had the chance to become someone who was stronger, smarter and didn’t care about all the options when taking revenge. Would you take that chance and just deal with the fallout of it later?
This book was different from others that I have read that have a fantasy/Sci-Fi vibe and I am very happy that I did agree to read this book because I enjoyed it a lot. It’s like most superhero stories start out but instead of you getting this amazing power to protect others you get the darker side of yourself. Could you handle your darker ego? Could you deal with the idea that this darker ego is talking to you in your head telling you what you should be doing and how you should be doing it?
I enjoyed the plot of this book but for me it was the characters that really made this book and the author’s writing style. You will get the right amount of information about the main characters in the book and how they will or how they do play an important part in the who, how and what of this book. I enjoyed the world-building that the author brought into this book, it helped me feel as though I was right there with the characters and being a part of this amazing/scary time in their lives. Getting to know the characters more throughout the book was great but I loved all the action and the drama throughout the book. It was written so well that it flowed from one part to the next, and with all the emotions that the characters were dealing with, helped me to connect with the characters and to have a better understanding of the situations that they were put through. Let me tell you at times I had a hard time connecting with Matt but the underlying reason why he is doing what he did I can understand the risk that he takes to make sure that justice is served I can understand as well.
I didn’t know that we were going to get another book after this but that cliffhanger at the end. Yikes! I am excited to know what is going to happen next with Matt and his friends.

It's has great real world experience in a fictional story. It's relatable with some of the characters experiences. Matt really struggles with a lot but he has an amazing support system helping him along his journey ( don't want to spoil the book).

I was very impressed with this book. He put so much passion and dedication into this book. I did start off a bit slow but once I hit chapter 7 I believe it picked up and made me not want to put it down.

The book starts out somewhat slow, but the characters are developed very well. It touches upon some big issues such as bullying and turning a blind eye. It's nice to see the victim of the bullying is eventually able to fight back. Once the story gets going, it is full of action. I also really enjoyed the authors abundant use of descriptive words.

The author’s style of writing seems fine, the story just didn’t captivate me personally. I definitely recommend giving the book a go though. Just because it didn’t interest me doesn’t mean it won’t interest someone else.

Un universo surreale e magnifico che si mescola alla nostra realtà dove la suspense e l'azione tengono incollat* alle pagine. Lo stile è dettagliato con una scrittura spesso scontata, ma fluida e ben strutturata, così da far sembrare tutto più reale e trasportare chi legge all'interno della vicenda! Le emozioni e le sensazioni dei personaggi, ma soprattutto il dualismo e la lotta interna tra Matt e il suo Doppelganger, scaturiscono dai dialoghi interpersonali densi e ben costruiti. Sono rimasta molto contenta del fatto che il romanzo non si basa solo sulla banale lotta tra bene e male vista e rivista, ma tratta anche molte altre tematiche attuali, come il bullismo, la lealtà, l'amore e la giustizia. Il reale e l'immaginario che si uniscono per dare vita a una vicenda leggera e coinvolgente! Un romanzo non autoconclusivo che consiglio e di cui attendo un sequel.

I want to express this review with all the honesty; the author was very good, the characters are really well done, they are all different to be discovered page after page, there are twists, love stories and many emotions, not to be missed! 5 stars deserved 🤠

Scritto molto bene, non mi sono mai annoiata (che non è affatto scontato). Più che andavo avanti, più che volevo scoprire come andava a finire. É molto attuale, parla di argomenti che leggiamo e vediamo tutti i giorni, come il bullismo (purtroppo), ma anche la vera amicizia, che ci sarà sempre. Se volete leggere un libro un pò diverso dal solito, questo è quello giusto. Super consigliato. 😍 ❤

September 23, 2023I am not leaving a star rating as I feel it would be unfair to undercut the current rating, but I do not recommend the English version of this book until it is refined. The sentence structure, adjectives and word choices all make for a very difficult read. I was 15 pages in, having to read most sentences twice for proper comprehension and had been introduced to two cities, multiple characters, gangs, organizations and others. In my opinion, this book needs several passes to be ready for prime-time.

La storia mi ha colpita molto, in particolare il modo di scrivere dell’autore, che, attraverso le descrizioni, mi ha permesso a immedesimarmi meglio. Il personaggio di Matt l’ho amato e odiato al tempo stesso, perché in alcuni momenti non concordavo con le sue azioni e tanto meno con le sue scelte.
Nonostante ciò, lui ha avuto uno sviluppo positivo e, malgrado il suo passato difficile, lui è riuscito a superare le avversità e ha trovare una ragazza in grado di donargli l’amore che meritava. Inoltre, accanto a lui c’erano i suoi amici, che si battevano per lui e gli stavano accanto nei momenti di sconforto, donandogli ancora più forza.
Sono curiosa di scoprire non solo come si evolverà la situazione tra Matt e il suo alter ego, ma anche cosa accadrà tra le due gang rivali.

Oggi condivido con voi "l'esperienza" che ho vissuto con la lettura di questo libro.
Kindred Warriors parla di un ragazzo, Matt, che sarà costretto ad affrontare sfide sempre più ardue e difficili.
Bullizzato da ragazzi, compagni della nuova scuola, collegati da legami parentali e culturali ad una delle due fazioni delinquenti che hanno l'egemonia su Vicary City, i Cobra.
I Cobra e gli Spyder "governano" incutendo terrore, tra corruzione e violenza sull'intera città.
Matt si ritroverà al centro di un intrigato destino, sospeso tra il richiamo della giustizia e le inquietanti richieste del suo alterego rabbioso e vendicativo.
La lettura è stata intensa, cruda e ti trasporta in un viaggio dettagliato e travolgente, mettendoti davanti a realtà dure che la vita ripropone, in maniera estrema e d'impatto.
Un racconto travolgente e ricco di azione che sottolinea la parte cruda della violenza , ma contemporaneamente esalta i valori che il personaggio ha in sé, soprattutto amicizia e giustizia.
Componente fondamentale per lo svolgimento della storia l'amicizia storica, dove il personaggio trava una "famiglia" autentica e l'amore per una splendida Donna.
La parte della storia dove Matt ha il primo incontro con il suo Doppelgangar, la descrizione del suo lato rabbioso e vendicativo allo specchio molto realista, sembrava quasi materializzarsi davanti gli occhi.
L'unione dei due , il cambiamento evidente fisico del protagonista è avvenuta in maniera diretta, sembra quasi di poterlo vedere in diretta.
Scrittura dettagliata e scorrevole, ricca di dettagli e informazioni tecniche ben acquisite sull'argomento della lotta.
Complimenti Mattia per la scrittura intrigante e intensa.
