Some memories fade. Some memories fight back. Since the tragic accident that stole her parents, sixteen-year-old amnesiac Cat Lindensen lives each day with only faint memories of the last. But after her uncle abruptly uproots their L.A. lives for the lush forests of Oregon, even Cat begins to notice the shadows that stalk her steps. Frightening hallucinations, flash growth spurts, and a debilitating reaction to iron leave Cat fearing for her mind. No one notices Cat's struggles more than the strange new boy Card Thomas, namely because he triggers them. The touch of his skin sends Cat into consuming visions of magic, monsters, and even her own lost past. But while Cat clings to the world she thought she lived in, she can't help but fall in love with a truth she can't explain--even as she's falling into the arms of an old friend with more secrets than she ever knew. Revived to the supernatural world around her, Cat must bend the lines between right and wrong to navigate the harsh world of bargains, curses, and a love that tests her very sanity. But sometimes it’s good to go a little crazy in love...

SC Harrison I SC Harrison was born with a pen in her hand Liar has always loved writing duh? really hates most YA. After diving obsessively into a metric ass-load hundreds of titles, she became disillusioned infuriated disillusioned with the poorly written, unedited, plagiaristic, unoriginal, archetypal PANSY-ASS WEAKLING LITTLE HEROINES AND THEIR DOUCHE BAG BOYFRIENDS pieces of siht bestsellers. And so, after flaming many message boards a stroke of inspiration, she wrote her own.

SC believes in showering twice daily writing incredibly long intelligent stories for teens and young adults who look for serial killers behind their shower curtains more from their novels than a vapid, insipid little one dimensional main character making stupid decisions for absolutely no reason Bella Swan. Her worlds are vivid and consuming, her characters deep and soulful, and the plots thought-provoking and surprising. In each story she hopes to create not only money an indelible atmosphere the reader craves long after the last page, but a new way of looking at hot guys the world. Rich in make-out scenes romance, humor, personal struggle, and the love that binds friends, family, and soulmates anything but "soulmates" soulmates, her stories lead readers into traffic fantasies where worlds collide and reality is questioned broken the enemy all in your head.

A fun read for any age. A lot of surprises are in store for young Cat as she realizes the world is not what she thought it was. Go along for the ride, stay for the fun. I read it from beginning to end in less then a day because I did not want to put it down.

Revive Series

I finally got around to reading this book which I've had downloaded on my kindle for years. Kicking myself for not reading it sooner.
My one complaint is that I want book two of the series as well as the rest but they are nowhere to be found. The author seems to have dropped off the face of the earth and the books are not accessible anywhere. All I can find are dead links.
Great book and could be a great series if the other books are ever found again.

A fast-paced Young Adult/Urban Fantasy that I enjoyed very much, Revive by SC Harrison (@SCHAuthor) does everything the first book of a successful series should do, and exceptionally well.

Main characters are introduced, led by protagonist and narrator Catriona Lindensen, and an overarching story arc is sketched. To be sure, along the way there will be twists and turns as sub-plots and new characters are introduced, and perhaps what the reader thought was the main story will turn out to be part of something larger still, but the job of Revive is to get you to want to come back to see it all unfold.

Count me in.

Sixteen-year-old Catriona has just moved to Portland from Los Angeles with her guardian uncle, Haldis, who took custody after her parents were killed in a car accident four years earlier. Cat was in the car, and suffers severe memory lapses as a result. She can’t function without her day planner, where she keeps notes on everything from her homework and school schedule to a canned biography speech to give on meeting new people.

On her first night in Portland, Cat is drawn to the pulsing energy emanating from a nearby nightclub, and then she meets Card at school, a boy whose mere touch gives her otherworldly visions. Afraid she is going insane, Cat begins to fall for Card even as he leads her down a path to knowledge that will upend everything she knows, or thought she knew, about herself. To say much more would be to spoil the plot for future readers.

Although many of the elements of Revive are familiar, Ms. Harrison avoids cliché at every turn and there are some clever plot twists to keep the reader from getting too comfortable. Her characters are original — I especially enjoyed Cat’s “voice” and thinking — and their actions are as realistic as you’d expect in a story that is, after all, a fantasy about faeries. The supernatural creatures we meet in Revive are all very interesting and I’m looking forward to learning more about them.

I like to read a lot of genres, but for whatever reason YA books haven’t often made it onto my Kindle. Revive is the second excellent YA book I’ve read in the past month so I’ve got to start delving into the genre more. As for Ms. Harrison, this is the second work of hers that I’ve read — see my review of her novella Planks — and, plainly put, I’m a fan.

I really wish books about Faeries would state they are about Faeries. For some reason I usually don't like books about them. I think the Wicked Lovely series is the only one I have enjoyed. I started Revive and though oh what is going on? Cat cannot remember her past due to an accident that killed her parents, but then she meets Card and he triggers some memories to come back. Her uncle, who is taking care of her, is pretty absent, but he gets someone to work for him who is like a babysitter, but becomes her friend. Is it magic? Is her uncle hiding something? What is going on?

Oh. She is a Faerie. Then it just went downhill from there for me. I am not sure what it is I don't like about Faeries, but it is just not my thing. Cat seemed fine. She holds onto the fact that her uncle loves her for way too long. Once she finds out what he really is she really shouldn't trust him as much, but I can understand that. She was alright, but did put herself in danger more often than she should have. It was like she just didn't care. She runs into another Faerie and that Faerie offers to take her home and she thinks oh I should do this? Right? There is no way this could go wrong. I mean home means one thing right? It was like really? Home could be his home....it could be your home (your uncle's place), it could be fairyland, it could be anywhere. Good thing she didn't have enough time to accept the offer...she was just not the smartest person.

Card was interesting. He obviously knew Cat from before she lost her memory, but he also is a little sketchy at times. Like joking about stalking her in an alley and stuff...not really cool or funny. I couldn't quite figure out if he was a good person or not. Obviously he is mostly good, Cat feels safe with him, but there was still something off. I guess in the next books you will see, but I didn't like this book enough to find out. He is something other, but who knows what.

Mike was not good. He starts as helping Cat out, but then suddenly turns into the bad guy? Really? I didn't get it as it was not in Mike's character up until that point. If it was a compulsion thing, like he had to, then sure. But it wasn't. I didn't get it.

Overall I didn't really like the story. It didn't help that it was about Faeries. I won't be reading any more in the series.

Cat is moved from town to town with no memory before 4 years ago. She was told she was involved in a car wreck with her parents. She intrusted in to the care of her uncle. She gets moved to Portland and befriends a boy in school, Card. Every time she touches him she gets these werid memories. Cat believes she is going crazier. So, she keeps this to herself. She can't help but fall for Card. Though it will seem in time that Cat is not what she thinks she is and neither is Card.

Cat memory slowly comes back because of Card. She discovers terrible secrets about what really happened 4 years ago and who she really is.

I loved the relationship between Cat and Card. I did like Matt at first but by the end - I was not his biggest fan.

This is the first in the series - so there is sort of a cliffhanger. There are certain things that are wrapped up but others leading to another book.

I've been disappointed by a great blurb before, but I was thrilled when Revive delivered even more than expected. Harrison's world-building and premise was sublime and because of this the relationships between the key characters were also strong. This is more than girl meets cute boy and they fall for each other - Cat, the memory-impaired heroine, and Card the attractive and strangely attentive new boy have a connection that may explain all the weirdness in Cat's life.

I couldn't put this one down and the only issue I had was that it ended too soon, albiet leaving some good teasers for the next offering. Is there more that Card hasn't told Cat? Why is he different from most of his own people?

I really loved the fantasy aspect to this novel, and look forward to the next instalment when this aspect should get even more time. I can't wait!

Cat loses her parents and is being raised by a heartless uncle. Hal is not very compassionate or concerned about Cat until they moved again and she makes new friends at her high school. Card knows Cat better than she ever thought and when he helps her regain her memories, she finds that she is living in a false world surrounded by evil.

I really liked this story. I'm a huge fan of Faeries myself (wink wink) so of course I was immediately drawn to this book. I really liked how the story progressed slowly as far as revealing Cat's true identity as well as who her Uncle really was. I definitely have the next book on my 'to-read' list!

I knew this was YA but it sounded so intriguing I went with it anyway. I think most readers of magic surrealism would like this story despite its age classification.

It is beautifully written for one. Cat is a great lead female. The mystery is compelling and keeps you guessing. I enjoyed my first YA book.
