Unfortunately, due to the nature of the book, many of the chapters feel like Wikipedia entries, while I am sure there is much more about these people worth knowing. There is very little context, so general awareness of history is quite necessary to get more out of it. Some of the stories do manage to escape the format and give more personality to both the people and events. The heart of the author is definitely in the right place.
PS - I wish I could also just mention casually how I had spent hundreds of thousands of pounds.

'Heroes of the Skies' merupakan buku ke-8 yang dikarang oleh Micheal Ashcroft dan juga merupakan buku ke-4 di dalam siri 'Heroes'.
Buku ini menghimpunkan kisah-kisah biografi ringkas dan 'citations' yang menceritakan keperwiraan dan jasa para penerima pingat yang berjuang di dalam perkhidmatan Tentera Udara British,dari Perang Dunia Pertama sehingga Perang Afghanistan. Apa yang menariknya,kesemua kisah ini dikumpulkan oleh penulis melalui pingat-pingat yang dibeli dan dikumpulkan oleh beliau. Namun demikian,tidak kesemua cerita yang disertakan di dalam buku ini Ashcroft memiliki pingatnya dan turut menampilkan kisah dari negara selain dari British seperti Amerika Syarikat,Australia dan New Zealand juga.
Buku ini juga dilancarkan bersamaan dengan siri televisyen Channel 5 yang juga menggunakan tajuk yang sama.
