For the Love of Nadia - My daughter was kidnapped by her father and taken to Libya. This is my heart-wrenching true story of my quest to bring her home

Rate this book
When Sarah Taylor suspected that her four-year-old daughter, Nadia, had been kidnapped by Fawzi, her abusive ex-husband, Sarah's whole world was turned upside down. Shadowy airport CCTV images showed Nadia had boarded a flight to Tripoli with her father, and Sarah's worst fears were confirmed. No child abducted to Libya had ever been successfully returned to their mother in England. But then Sarah Taylor was no ordinary mother. The only possibility of getting Nadia back was to give up everything that she held dear in England and move to Libya. But her journey wouldn't be easy. Nadia was moved secretly between Fawzi's relatives for two years in a desperate attempt to hide her until a dramatic car chase, through the backstreets of Tripoli, finally led to the safe reconciliation of this extraordinary mother and daughter. Sarah's quest to bring her beloved daughter is described in an unfolding story of blackmail and embezzlement, the involvement of the Libyan secret police, death threats, a meeting with Colonel Gadaffi and the intervention of Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Written with painful honesty, For the Love of Nadia is an inspirational tale of unparalleled spirit and the fierce courage of a devoted mother, whose love for her daughter knowns no bounds.

An inspirational account of a heart broken mother. I went through a range of emotions reading this book (anger, sadness, frustration, relief). The strength that Sarah has is remarkable, and the love she has for her daughter shines through in every word.

What an amazing true account of child abduction and how 1 women fought for 4 years to get her back.

I have read a few other true accounts of a similar nature this one really stands out to me, maybe because I dont live very far from this harrowing story. It is a true account of redemption, overcoming your fears, trial from adversity, faith and religion and the wars personal and world wide it can cause. It also makes you realise how lucky us women our to live in a modern society with equal rights. What this women goes through is appaling, it is a miracle she has the strength to fight, as we hear lots of other mothers haven given up the fight.

Like to think I would have done the same, I beleive a childs place should always be with their mother unless the mother I s unfit.

This is a feel good read. You won't be able to put down.

Great book

Very interesting. Well written . Great glimpse into Libyan culture . Sarah the mother is a terrific mom and writer . I am sure her book is a help and inspiration to others in a similar unfortunate situation.

Inspiring history about a brave mother.
Also informative for young girls to recognize the bad man. If a man loves himself too much, its always a red flag.
