Photographs by Margaret Bourke-White; text by Vicki Goldberg. 120 pages; 116 b&w, tri-toned b&w, and color photographic plates; includes a list of plates. Out of Print.
Victoria Hesse Goldberg was an American photography critic, author, and photo historian based in New Hampshire, United States. She has written books and articles on photography and its social history.
Even without Vicki Goldgerg's inciteful and engaging text, this must be a 5 Star effort due to the photographs. In addition to Bourke-White's work, there are a number of photos used to set the period and contrast her work. Goldberg wrote the 1986 biography of Bourke-White and supplied the text for this collection of photographs which were in a traveling exhibition 1988-1990.
Love the photos in here. So cool how she photographs industrial objects, some of them huge, puts them into scale with people, AND can even make these things look beautiful.
