This is a treatise we have written concerning humility, or khushuʾ, the heart's meakness, and its breaking before the Lord.

The basic meaning of khushuʾ is the softness of the heart, its being gentle, still, submissive, broken, and yearning. When the heart is humble, so too is the hearing, seeing, head, and face; indeed all the limbs and their actions are humbled, even speech. This is why the Prophet ﷺ would say in his bowing (rukuʾ), "My hearing, sigh, bones, and marrow are humbled to You," another narration having, "and whatever my foot carries."

One of the Salaf saw a man fidgeting in his prayer and remarked, "If the heart of this person was humble, so too would his limbs be." The source of khushuʾ that takes place in the heart is the gnosis of Allah's greatness, magnificence, and perfection. The more gnosis a person has of Allah, the more khushuʾ he has. The greatest action of worship which manifests the khushuʾ of the body to Allah is the prayer. Allah has praised those who have Khushu, in the prayer.

al-Hasan said, "When you stand in prayer, stand in due obedience as Allah has ordered you, beware of negligence and looking (here and there), beware that Allah is looking at you while you are looking at something else, asking Allah for Paradise and taking refuge with Him from the Fire; yet your heart is heedless, not knowing what the tongue is saying." And Hudhayfah said, "The first thing you will lose of your religion will be khushuʾ and the last thing you will lose of your religion will be the prayer; and it is well possible that there is no good in a person who prays; and soon will come a time when you shall entre a large Masjid and not see a single person with khushuʾ."

This small treatise deals with the correct and accurate meaning of khushuʾ, along with three extremely beneficial appendixes.

ابن رجب الحنبلي (736- 795 هـ) هو الإمام الحافظ العلَّامة زين الدين عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن عبد الرحمن بن الحسن بن محمد بن أبي البركات مسعود السلامي البغدادي الدمشقي الحنبلي، أبو الفرج الشهير بابن رجب، عالم دين مسلم، ومحدِّث وفقيه حنبلي. اشتهر بشرحه على الأربعون النووية وكان أيضًا المؤلف لكتاب «فتح الباري».

وُلد ابن رجب في بغداد، سنة 736هـ، لأسرة علمية عريقة في العلم والإمامة في الدين.

ثم قدِمَ إلى دمشق وهو صغير سنة 744هـ، وأجازه ابن النقيب، وسمع بمكة على الفخر عثمان بن يوسف، واشتغل بسماع الحديث باعتناء والده. وحدَّث عن محمد بن الخبَّاز، وإبراهيم ابن داود العطَّار، وأبي الحرم محمد بن القلانسي.

وسمع بمصر من صدر الدين أبي الفتح الميدومي، ومن جماعة من أصحاب ابن البُخاري. فأُتيح له تحصيل العلم على أكابر علماء عصره، ونبغ فيه وعلا شأنه في علم الحديث، وبلغ درجة الإمامة في فنونه، بل في أعمقها وأجلِّها، وهو علم الإسناد وعلم العلل، حتى قصده طلَّاب العلم.

وأما في الفقه فقد برع فيه حتى صار من أعلام المذهب الحنبلي، ويشهد على ذلك كتابه (القواعد الفقهية).

أصبح سجود السهو - كما قالت احداهن مرة- وكأنه ركن من أركان صلاتي

أيضا أحد أسباب اللاخشوع بالنسبة لي أظنه يرجع إلى أني اعتدت دائما الإستماع الى شيء عند القيام بشيء روتيني
فبشكل تلقائي اعتاد عقلي ألا يركز في الأشياء الروتينية و يبحث عن أشياء أخرى يقوم بها بالتزامن.

رسالة لطيفة تخاطب القلب عله يستفيق من سباته فوالله انّا قد غفلنا و ابتعدنا كثيرا
اللهم انا مقصرون ظالمون غافلون فاهدنا و أصلح قلوبنا و ثبتنا على دينك

كتاب جميل، حُقَّ له أن يُقرأ مراتٍ ومرات. مشكورٌ جهد الإمام ابن رجب ثقَّل الله ميزان حسناته به، وأعتقد أننا بحاجة لكتابات جديدة تهتم بكيفية تحقيق الخشوع في الصلاة عمليًّا بعد كثير من الكتابات حول تعريف الخشوع وفضله وما رُوي فيه، وأشهد أن القرآن الكريم يُمكن أن يُستخرج منه الدُرُّ في هذا الباب.

“The hearts vary in their khushū’ in accordance to the gnosis they have of the One they have humbled to, and in accordance to the hearts' witnessing the Attributes that lead to khushū’. Some hearts are humbled by the strength of their perceiving His closeness to His servants and His seeing their innermost secrets which leads to being shy of Him, Most High, and constantly being aware of Him in every state of motion or stillness. Some hearts are humbled through their perceiving the magnificence of Allah, His greatness, and His grandeur which leads to being in awe of Him and magnifying Him. Some hearts are humbled through perceiving His perfection and beauty which leads to drowning in the love of Him and the desire to meet and see Him. Some hearts are humbled through perceiving the enormity of His seizure, vengeance, and punishment which leads to fearing Him.”

مشقة الصلاة ثقيلة إلا على الخاشعين كما قال ابن كثير ، والخشوع في الصلاة أمر عظيم شأنه ، سريع فقده ، نادر وجوده ، خصوصاً في آخر الزمان .
فقد قال عليه الصلاة والسلام :
(( أول شيء يرفع من هذه الأمة الخشوع حتى لا ترى فيها خاشعاً ))

وقال بعض العلماء : " الصلاة كجارية تهدى إلى ملك الملوك ، فما الظن بمن يهدى إليه جارية شلاء ، أو عوراء ، أو عمياء ، أو مقطوعة اليد ، أو دميمة ، أو قبيحة ، أو يهدي له جارية ميتة ، فإن الله سبحانه وتعالى طيب ، ولا يقبل إلا طيباً ، وليس من العمل الطيب صلاة لا روح فيها ، كما أنه ليس من العتق الطيب عتق عبد لا روح فيه ".

بأسانيد حسنة في الترمذي والحاكم عن شداد بن أوس وعبادة بن الصامت رضي الله عنهما عن أول ما يُرفع من الناس من العلم قالا:

الخشوع!

قال شداد: حتى لا ترى خاشعا.
قال عبادة: يوشك أن تدخل المسجد الجامع فلا ترى فيه رجلا خاشعا.

الإمام ابن رجب جامع بالكتاب احاديث وقصص عن الصحابة. الكتاب جميل لكن ينقصه الشرح لتبسيط الافكار فيه.

كتاب جميل جداً ، يتحدث عن الخشوع في الصلاة وكيفية الوصول إليه .. ويذكر بعض الأحاديث وأخبار الصالحين الخاشعين ..
رغم قصره فهو مفيد جداً ..

من دعاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ..؛ "اللهم أحيني مسكيناً وأمتني مسكينًا واحشرني في زمرة المساكين "
"اللهم ارزقنا حب المساكين "
"واذا كانت النفوس كباراً .. تعبت في مرادها الأجسام .."
اللهم ارزقنا خشيتك ومراقبتك في السر والعلن ..
اللهم ارزقنا رضاك وأكرمنا بجنتك واحشرنا مع الأنبياء والعلماء والمخلصين الصالحين .. ياارب ❤

Concise and filled with wisdom. My take from this book is to have humility in prayer is to have khushu'. To have khushu' in our prayers, we have to have humility in our hearts as this will spread to all our limbs ; even our actions and speech are humbled.

4 stars because I feel there's something missing after reading...? Maybe because the author does not discuss in depth and not much elaboration being made on ways to instill humility into our heart so that we can attain khushu' in our prayers. But I think, it might be the author is trying to deliver a statement through the book on what constitutes to humility in the prayers i.e. the khushu’ and the importance of it. Here the author puts in place few hadiths - which some of them are repetitive - to back that importantness.

Since khushu' is related to taqwa, I think I will need to re-read Agenda To Change Our Condition by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf of which discussion to attain taqwa is covered in depth.

Anyhow, still a very good read. Recommended!

الكتاب كان جيدًا من حيث الطرح الموضوعي الأكاديمي ولو أني ماوجدت ضالتي كاملة ولكن استفدت منه موضوعيًا ولكن لم يتكلم عن الخشوع من الناحية الروحية وكيفية الوصول إليه كما أردت.

খুশু হল নামাজ কে কিভাবে আরো প্রাণবন্ত করা যায় তার সম্পর্কে একটি বই। এখানে ব্যাখ্যা করা হয়নি এত ডিটেইলস ভাবে জাস্ট কিছু হাদিস এবং কোরআনের কিছু ছোটখাটো ব্যাখ্যা দিয়ে বইটি শেষ করা হয়েছে তাই আমার কাছে এতটা ভাল লাগেনি।
এটা আমার ব্যক্তিগত মতামত আপনাদের ভাল লাগতেও পারে যারা মনে করছেন বইটি পড়বেন তারা কিনতে পারেন।

ليست واجبّا تُريدُ التخلص منه أو قضاءه، إنما هو طمأنينةٌ يعيشها القلب خاشعًا متذكرًا أن لا شفاء لقلبه سوى الله، ولا مخرج من همه إلى التوجه إلى عظيم لا يرضاه هوان قلبك وتعب نفسك وألم روحك، حين تخسعُ الجوارح يشعر قلبك بالراحة، فأنت تسلم مفاتيح أيامك لله، ترمي حملك عليه، تطلب العون منه ولن يعينك في الحياة سواه، تؤمن حينها أنك فعلك كل ما في وسعك أما التوفيق فهو به ومعه وبالوقت الذي ارتضاه الله.

جيدة، اللهم ارزقنا الخشوع في الصلاة وفي كل العبادات.
في الرسالة آثار حسنة وأخرى ضعيفة، وفيها شروح سهلة لمعنى الخشوع، لكنها ليست بثقل رسائل ابن رجب الأخرى التي أعرفها.

فهناك ثلاث رسائل أكررها كل فترة قراءة أو سماعا لثقل ما فيها.

مقبول، فيه قصص جميلة بس اظن انه ما ادى تمام العنوان او وصل لي المعنى بشكل كافي كان يحتاج للمزيد من القصص والتركيز فيها على الوصول للخشوع في الصلاة اكثر من انه يتشعب، ممكن اقراه مستقبلا ممكن بس الان انتهيت منه والله يرحم ابن رجب الحنبلي
