Recently divorced and out on my own for the first time in 22 years. Sometimes it's scary and sometimes it's exciting. Either way, it's good material for my next books. For years, I have lived with characters and stories dancing in my head, but never really had the time to develop them. Now, with this precious, wonderful time that I have vowed not to take for granted, I have at last been able to let those characters live and breathe. I only pray that readers get to know them and love them as much as I have. I write teen romances, and adult romances. Some days I feel young, and some days I feel older (a little older any way). My books most often have heroines that ride motorcycles, and drive fast cars. There's a little of the real-life me in there. I hope you enjoy my books. Having read one other book from this author, which I really enjoyed. I was looking forward to reading this story. Which is basically a second chance at love. While the execution of this is well done. I just couldn't warm to the heroine. Avery had just lost her second husband. She's devastated by his loss. She has a sixteen year old son from her first marriage. Her first husband died as well.

Cameron who is a country singer, was Avery's best friend, back in the day. But best friend or not she hadn't seen him for ten years, as Cameron's wife had a problem with their friendship. (Who could blame her, I'm sure most people wouldn't be over the moon at their partner still seeing a former love interest). Anyway it transpires that Cameron is separated from his wife for his constant absences due to his tour commitments.

Upon hearing of Avery's loss he turns up on her doorstep. Avery is overjoyed to see him.

I wanted to like this book but I felt Avery's grief was contradicted by her actions. When she lost her first husband she was pregnant. But she had already married number two before the baby was born! When husband number two died, it was only a short four months later when Cameron her old friend turned up, and within mere minutes they were all over each other. She even commenting on the size of his equipment. Yeah she's really still grief stricken. That right there put me off.
So I was disappointed with this. It's just not my kind of story.
The authors writing ability is not in question. My rating is based upon the story.
