Rand Fielding, moody, dynamic and aloof, preys on billion dollar companies, making himself millions in the process. He buys what he wants, when he wants it, people included. In Rand's world everything has a price and a best-before date, especially women.
Rand's never had a dog and doesn't have time for one. But a surprise gift of what his business partner calls "man's best friend"—a goofy, disruptive, stubborn pup who quickly develops a taste for Rand's Italian shoes—puts him in the market for a professional dog trainer.
Upbeat, open and uncomplicated, Tessa Darwin supports her mom and dotes on her practical younger sister, Annie. Tessa's goal is to become a vet, but until she can pull that off financially, she does what she loves, works for Dawg's Inn Kennels and trains dogs.
Rand hires Tessa and tells her to get his newly acquired, shoe-eating, carpet-destroying fur ball under control, so he can work without distraction.
Tessa instantly falls in love with the wilful pup and works her training magic to bring him to heel. All good—until she also falls in love with the pup's dark, handsome—totally unattainable—owner. This is not good. Not good at all.
Tessa's pretty sure bringing Rand Fielding to heel is way beyond her skill set. But no way can you blame a girl for trying...
I hate to give a book a bad review... This just did not do it for me. Like, at all! I finished it, and sadly, that's saying a lot.. The plot had potential but the dialogue and especially the ending just... bleh I can't even describe it. I wish the ending had at least been more clear. Yeah I suppose it was a HEA but it came about kind of abruptly. Not to mention the 'I've fallen in love with you after one week even though you've given me no reason to' theme... Sorry but I would not recommend this. On the upside, I got this free from amazon so at least I didn't spend any $$ on it!
Man's Best Friend had a delightful puppy, a sassy dog trainer and a tall dark and sexy man to make it an fun story. Tessa's personality with saying whatever she thought was delightful and gave Rand something to think about. Milton, the butler/cook with attitude added to the fun. And of course Licks that puppy was delightful. Man's Best Friend is a nice short romantic story to give a smile and a sigh with a happy ever after ending, of course.
Rich emotionally dead Mr. Rand Fielding comes home to find a puppy on his porch from his best friend and only surviving family member, his cousin Ned. I loved how the puppy opens the door to loving and affection. This story really worked for me although it was much too fast in the falling in love. Tessa Darwin supports everyone in her family and entourage. I was surprised that there was no one that took care of her, she is a classic giver personality. Tessa was perfect for Rand and it works out that Ned had tried to get her to date him for months prior to the beginning of the story. Cute puppy loving and some hot chemistry between the hero and heroine. 112 pages and kindle freebie which could have been a Harlequin style short story. 2 stars
I've read a few of this author's contemporary romances prior to reading this one and enjoyed them quite a bit. Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me. The plot progressed a tad quick to the point of glossing over the main characters development. It was hard to form any connection to the characters and the ending seemed abrupt & rushed. At the very least, including an epilogue might have helped wrap it up better. The perk to this book was that I finished it in a couple of hours and got to read about some e cute puppy antics. After this book, I'll be more hesitant on reading g any more from this author or at least paying for more books but you may like it. Overall, 50/50 on recommending this book to others.
A very cute , sweet short romance story. No epilogue , the ending was short. Would have love to know more about how long did Tessa wait and marry Rand etc.
When you are a dog lover you just have to like a book called "Man's Best Friend" and this one was a great story about a guy, his dog and of course a love story too.
