A ten-minute wait can transform happy kids into cranky whiners. And adults aren’t much different. No wonder then that folks say waiting in line for rides is the single biggest drawback to a Disney World vacation. Author Pierce transforms wait time into fun time by using Disney’s own visuals to create a profusion of games for each ride line. Your eyes and her book are the only tools you need to play.
Meredith Pierce was born in England but grew up in Disneyland’s vast backyard, Orange County, California. She was introduced to Disney magic at a very young age and enjoyed regular visits to the park as a child, teenager, and adult. Like millions of people, Meredith loved Disneyland from the moment she laid eyes on it. The creativity, attention to detail, and positive environment kept her returning year after year. In due time, Meredith graduated from The College of Communications at Cal. State University Fullerton and spent the next 15 years working to improve the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness. The inspiration for “Lots To Do In Line: Disneyland” came to Meredith during her first trip to Disneyland with her own daughter, then age 7. Looking at the park in the role of Mommy made her notice things she had failed to register before. The lines were a wonderland of things to see and do, and they were going unnoticed and under appreciated. One year later, “Lots To Do In Line: Disneyland” was born.
I looked through this book, but I don't think I can give it a proper review unless/until I've tried it at Disney. It looks like it would be a lot of fun for families that like playing "I spy" type games. Each attraction has tons of things to look for and do, probably enough to keep most people occupied through all but the longest of lines. But it really desperately needs to be an ebook or an app or something. I just can't see myself toting this through the park all day, just to keep my niece occupied. Maybe if I got desperate.
Fun book to take on a Disney vacation to fill time between rides. Well formatted and easy to use. Lots to choose from, a little repetitive but overall this will come in quite handy.
This book is full of fun ideas and entertainment to keep you busy while waiting in those long lines. I love the idea. The downside is that the book itself is needed to "play" the games inside, and it is a bit bulky for someone to carry around a theme park. If it was smaller and more compact it would be a 5 star book!
