Hy laat haar sweet, swaar asemhaal.
I have been reading love stories for as long as I can remember and when I ‘met’ the classic authors like Jane Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James The Brontë sisters, etc. during my studies, I was hooked for life. I married my college boyfriend and soul mate and we are fortunate to live in the picturesque little seaside village of Betty's Bay, South Africa with the ocean a block away and a beautiful mountain right behind us. And although life so far has not always been an easy ride, it has always been an exiting and interesting one! I like the heroines in my stories to be beautiful, feisty, independent and headstrong. And the heroes must be strong but possess a generous amount of sensitivity. They are of course, also gorgeous! My stories typically incorporate the family background of the characters to better understand where they come from and who they are when we meet them in the story.
Hierdie was nie my gunsteling Elsa Winckler boek nie.
I have this stupid grin on my face. In spite of my family`s best efforts I wasn`t kept away from “Tussen Jazz en Rock” for far too long. I knew after page 4 I`ll be finishing the book in one sitting. It`s just one of those books!
I don`t want to spoil it for anyone who still wants to read it, but I have to mention a few things here. Okay so when Jak ‘appeared’ and the doves flew and Band of Horses’ ‘No one`s gonna love you’ started on my playlist I screamed! It was just so perfect! (I`m one of those people who have a soundtrack for almost everything in my life.)
Then when they *cough* you know, YOU KNOW, Cary Brothers` ‘Belong’ picked up pace as they ran through the street *laugh* and I was swept up in the emotions and urgency, but also the depth of what was going on. When she opens up to him afterward …*shaking head*
And then the ending, Gavin DeGraw`s ‘We belong together’ (from the movie Tristan & Isolde)…not only perfect for the…ah! I almost said it! But it fits in with the scene perfectly *laugh* “We belong together like the open seas and shores…” *deep satisfied sigh*
We shouldn`t let past hurts dictate future behavior or influence the choices we make- a pearl of wisdom I received from the pages of this book. *** I`m a fan
