A collection of Huu Thinh’s poems writing about his every-day life and the closest things to his heart. Setting in the war and post-war time, his stories throughout the book depict a very beautiful yet heartbreaking portrait of the nation. His love for this country is as tremendous as his grief. With all the hardships, losts, regrets and cruelties, hope was something that’s never been taken away.

The second part of the book is mainly about the sea and the soldier conversation with it - or with himself. Reading this sometimes is like riding on the wave and other time like drifting on a lifeboat. Intense and lonely. Emotional and admirable.

Huu Thinh did make the most honest and vulnerable poetry that captured a time worth remembering.
