28 pages long, or short (whichever way you look at it), must make it really difficult to create the tension and atmosphere needed to draw your readers in. However, Stacy Green has managed to pull it off. Tate has to face his lifelong fear of the dark and enter the storm drains beneath Las Vegas, in order to search for his junkie sister, who's gone missing. The tension is palpable as he encounters an assortment of characters who call this place home. It was claustrophobic and terrifying for him, but his determination to find his sister supersedes his need to get the heck out of there. Just wish it had been longer.
A nice short story of a brother who is in search of his addict sister inside the storm drain of Las Vegas. The story is dark and chilling at times. I wish it was longer and had more events happening. I felt the ending came too soon for such a chilling book.
This was a short read. it packed a lot of emotion into a small book. The characters were well formed and the story was okay. It shows the underside of drugs and it's amazing how well the author can write to paint such a picture in so few pages.
I don't often download individual short stories, but I'm glad I got this one. The story is fast-paced and exciting from the very first page. Stacy Green did an excellent job creating an interesting plot as well as telling people about what is probably a little known fact to outsiders about the life inside the storm drains in the area in and around Las Vegas.
Welcome to Las Vegas takes us into the storm drains below the city, a fascinating world inhabited by those fallen through the cracks. Tate's quest to save his sister from the underworld makes for a riveting fast read.
An excellent story that takes place in the creepy storm drains and tunnels below Las Vegas. Tate puts his fears aside to search for his sister who has a drug problem. Good suspense that has you feeling as if you can smell the stench and feel the cobwebs!
The only problem was it was too short! The description of everything made you feel like you were right there with him. I even cut myself swiping at the back of my neck thinking something was their crawling! Fantastic short story!
This book was short, about 26 pages. And it was good, but it could have been more. I feel like the biggest obsticle Tate faced was his own fears. It did have nice messages, family is important and even the old standby of never judge a book by its cover.
I am a fan of scarry reads and thought this was a great story. The creepier the better. Looking forward to your book length debut, Stacy. Keep this up.
What there was of it was great. Only wish it could have been longer. I've read a lot of Mrs. Green's books. I end one and immediately start another.. I m getting worried about what will happen when I read all of them 😔 😟 🙁
The powerful opening sequence of this story did a great job of drawing the reader into the real life struggles of the protagonist. Now this is a writer!
Wasn't sure what to expect when I started to read this shorty story, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. It's the story of Tate and Lily. They are twins and best friends till Lily starts using drugs. Now after getting clean, Lily is kicked out of her friends place when drugs are found in her room. She's moved to living in the underground tunnels of Las Vegas. Tate promising their that he would find her, heads into the underground tunnels to do just that. There he encounters Tony who tells him where he might find Lily, and he sets off to find her, only to find a body and then end up knocked out....where Lily and Tony find him. Oh and to top it all off Tate is afraid of the dark.
It's a quick read, but it shows what a brother will do to find and protect his sister.

The details and descriptions were great in this short story - in fact they were so clear and creepy crawly that I had a hard time reading about the underground tunnels under Las Vegas. Every time Tate felt something crawl on him or a slimy creature move around him I shivered. As the walls closed in as Tate got deeper into the tunnels I found myself taking deeper breaths as I felt his claustrophobia. Great descriptions for anyone who likes scary stories. I don't think I could ever go through an underground tunnel for anything, but missing a loved one might make a person take undeniable risks.
Stacey green puts forth an interesting story in this book. Having lived in Las Vegas for thirty years and being familiar with the areas in which she stages her characters, I had a difficult time with the authors accuracy. Some of the locations just didn't agree with what I knew existed but that didn't detract very much from the story. However the characters were of the kind that inhabit the areas this author talks about and the story is believable. You will enjoy this book.
What a gripping tale! It held my interest until the end of the book. Tate goes down in the disgusting sewers of Las Vegas looking for his junkie sister. You will not believe what he goes thru to find her. I found myself telling him to go back more than once. A great ending too.
This was a nice short story about the underground tunnels in Las Vegas. Made me wanted to read more about this, was interesting and kept my attention. The author was very good at her descriptions and made you feel like you were there.
The story was gripping and I enjoyed the few characters in it. I live in Vegas so it was interesting to read about the tunnels. I've never been down them but I did read about the photographer who explored them that was mentioned in the book. Short but suspenseful and entertaining.
Very well written short story. Felt like I could smell the tunnels, glad I couldn't, but great descriptions. Brings to light some of Vegas you would never see it guess about.
