Molly MacRae spent twenty years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Upper East Tennessee, where she managed The Book Place, an independent bookstore; may it rest in peace.
Before the lure of books hooked her, she was curator of the history museum in Jonesborough, Tennessee’s oldest town.
MacRae lives with her family in Champaign, Illinois, where she connects children with books at the public library.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I really liked this book. It is just my kind of gentle mystery. It had a great sense of place in the Tennessee mountains and a lovely small town feel for the characters and the life. Lewis Wilder is very closed off about who he is and what led him to become the curator of the museum in a small mountain town in Tennessee. Someone is committing burglaries of antiques and a lot of fingers point at Wilder as the new guy in town. You learn about the different characters in the community and Wilder's background. I hope there are future books in this series. I am fortunate to work with the author. I got so into the story that I forgot it came from the mind of someone I know.
Lewis Wilder runs the local museum in small town Tennessee. He's only been there six months and people don't seem to know much about him. Since he's a mystery, rumors get started that the local cat burglar must be the new guy and they call him the Fox.
Lewis denies the rumor, keeps trying to do his job, but he gets frustrated with all the innuendo and jokes at his expense.
I like this book okay, but not as well as the Haunted Yarn Shop series by the same author. The main problem for me is that I didn't much care for the main character that much.

Lewis Wilder is happily settling in to his job as curator of the history museum in quaint Nolichucky. Unfortunately, there's a clever thief known as the Fox in the area, and since Lewis is quiet about his background, the rumor mongers associate him with the Fox. His new almost-girlfriend, Marilyn, who runs the local bookstore, and his friend the Reverend George Palmer urge him to face up to his past, but when Lewis decides to do just that, his problems get worse. Delightful.
This was a book I won off goodreads and read in the bathroom in spurts. Molly is an excellent storyteller and writer so really enjoyed reading this one. Its a small town murder mystery with twist and turns and I never guessed who dunnit until it was discovered!
I often skip ahead to see what will happen, but it was harder to do with this book. I did think the author needed to make him a bit more trusting and less angry, although the reasons why may be coming out in another book. It was a good read.
