Marianne Morea is the author of 40 book with more to come!
Born and raised in New York, Marianne Morea’s stories embody the grit and complexity of the city. An avid traveler, she uses experiences from around the world in all her books. Paranormal Women’s Fiction, Paranormal Romantic Suspense and Sexy Urban Fantasy are the hallmarks of her writing, where the city never sleeps because the fantasies are real.
It was AWESOME!!!! I first became intrigued with Lily and Sean's story in the novella Hunter's Blood. The two met when Lily was trying to kill his brother because he killed her best friend. I immediately contacted the author to find out if there was more to come and was assured that a full length novel was in the works. This novel continues the story. It begins with the Were's meeting to decide Lily's fate. Some believe that to be the Alpha's (Sean) mate she has to be "turned", Sean doesn't want to force her and she isn't ready to commit yet. We also go to New York where the police are investigating a murder scene, this really showcases this author's talent for putting you right into the story. I could feel the freezing rain on my neck, hear the broken glass crunching under my feet, and see the flashing lights from the police cars. Lily is fed up with the Were deadlock and has decided to go back to NY, she becomes involved with the police when they decide they can use some paranormal help. When she realises a vampire is doing all the killing she gets Sean to come and help track it down. The story has some plot twists that had my head spinning, I would have never guessed..... This is a fast paced thriller that I couldn't put down, combining contemporary, paranormal, and a sexy love story. I recommend it to everyone!

ABNA PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY REVIEW: Werewolves, diseased vampires, and a tough-as-nails human psychic provide the plot in this suspenseful semi-erotic romance. Someone -- or something -- is creating increasingly gruesome crime scenes in Manhattan with young victims found drained of nearly all their blood. NYPD detective Ryan Martinez knows he has a sixth sense, so when a colleague insists on calling in Lily Saburi, a psychic who has often worked with the NYPD, to help, he reluctantly allows her to assist. Lily’s been in Maine with her boyfriend, Sean, the alpha male of his Were pack, recovering from her best friend’s murder. Due to infighting among the Were clans, Sean stays behind while Lily and his clansman, Jack, head to Manhattan to help solve the crimes. After an assassination attempt aimed at Sean is foiled, he realizes that the culprit might be Edward Parr, a conniving Were who’s made no secret of the fact that he wants to be the top Alpha. While solidly written, the work often reads like a sequel to a previous book and makes references to many events which occurred before the story started, which is distracting in several places. But a series of clever and completely unexpected twists at the end -- as well as quirky and appealing characters and unexpected humor -- make the good moments far outweigh the bad.

Finally! The second installment to Marianne Morea's exciting Cursed by Blood Saga is here, picking up right where Hunter's Blood left off!
Psychic hunter Lily Saburi finds herself torn between her alpha role as mate to Sean Leighton, leader of the Brethren of Weres, and her calling as a hunter. With the Apha Council of the Brethren - led by the shrewd, scheming Edward Parr - insisting Sean turn her immediately or hold her prisoner at the compound in Maine until she agrees to being turned, Lily storms into the compound's Great Hall and lets them all know, in no uncertain terms, that she'll not allow their meddling. Not yet ready to make the irrevocable step into the supernatural world, she decides, for the time being, to return to New York City.
There, with were guard Jack Cochran at her side, she finds the city in an uproar over a series of heinous murders. Someone is attacking club goers en mass and draining them of blood. With no leads, Lily's psychic abilities are just what the NYPD needs, but homicide detective, Ryan Martinez, isn't all that happy to be working with a psychic. Ryan can't quite wrap his cynical mind around Lily's supernatural revelations. He even refuses to accept his own strange abilities to sense things at the murder scenes.
When the full moon begins exerting its sexual pull on them, unwanted sparks fly as the two work together to uncover the undead truth about the killings. Long obscured secrets emerge and incredible truths reveal themselves. And when Lily is kidnapped, Sean, Ryan and the Vampire Council must join forces to find her and catch the killer before Parr's disturbing plans can come to fruition. What they weren't expecting is a traitor in their midst.
With Twice Cursed, Ms. Morea has created a credible, hard-driving urban fantasy, right down to the very minutest details. I could envision the sights and even the smells of New York City. I felt as if I were with them when Lily and Ryan poked through the bloodbaths that comprised the murder scenes. There were times I couldn't put this book down. Ms. Morea's action-packed writing provides enough twists and turns to boggle the mind. One is fairly predicable and rather apropos, but another took me by such unhappy surprise that actual grief took my breath away.
Sean takes somewhat of a back seat through the middle of the book, but I didn't miss him at all. Ryan is compelling. He and the formidable, kick-ass Lily play off each other like two well-trained actors, and the mystery surrounding his own paranormal abilities filled my needs for a hero I also loved the addition of Jack and his bubbly personality. His snarky humor really adds an extra dimension to the story, as does the addition of vampire leaders Sébastien and Etienne. And then there's Edward, a smarmy villain who's really easy to hate.
In the end, we discover the mystery behind the rogue vampire, exactly what Edward's motives are, why Ryan can sense things and what Lily ultimately decides about her future with Sean. I was amazed at how neatly Ms. Morea ties up all her dangling threads in a conclusion that leaves me very curious as to where she might take this saga next. I'd love to see stories for Ryan and Sébastien, and for the disfigured Etienne, who especially deserves a happy ending.
I recommend reading Hunter's Blood before taking on Twice Cursed. Although Ms. Morea fills in most of the back story from book one, you'll still find yourself stumbling over some plot elements that are better explained in Hunter's Blood. Review:
This was a story I stumbled into after reading a bit about Hunter’s Blood on a forum and let it be known right up front, book 1 ends with a bit of cliffhanger which you MUST have book 2 (Twice Cursed) to avoid death from frustration.
The combination of these 2 book is one continuous story that grabs you and draws you into a world of Weres and eventually Vampires. There are some other things mentioned and I can hardly wait until she writes more in this series as I see huge potential to it. The story revolves around Lily who is a bit of psychic plus a bit more powers that seem to be unknown even to her, then add in the requisite hunk Sean Leighton (Alpha of the Brethren of Weres) and you have a perfect storm of intrigue, passion, mystery and action.
Someone is seemingly trying to kill off most if not all of the supernatural species via a biological agent and the search to figure it out while dealing with personal demons is riveting. This story has a bit of everything, villain that is easy to hate (motivations are unclear until almost the shocking end), main couple that you can’t figure out if they are in lust or love for about half the story, good secondary supporting cast although the vampires are painted a bit too vicious in some respects but pretty much line up with the ones in Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniel series in motivations and personality (totally unlike in powers).
I was a bit disappointed in the lack of romantic buildup but this is more of an mix of PNR and UF with the main thrust being the urban fantasy story with the romance as a good motivation and keeps the story interesting and multifaceted. This is a story that will stay with you and characters that are memorable.
I give this about a 4.5/5 Star rating in entertainment, the only complaints is my revenge junkie was not fed as well as it could have been (but not ignored either) and a romance that fell closer to the old “MINE!” than a true meeting of minds until later in the story. All things considered I highly recommend the 2 books together and hope I see more.
Weres and cops and vamps, oh my! TWICE CURSED by Marianne Morea has GOT to be one of her best works!
Lily Saburi, a Psychic investigator returns, a little softer, a little happier, but still one tough gal hip deep in the supernatural world. Lily is brought in to assist the New York Police Department in discovering who is behind the vicious slaughters of some of its citizens with her special talents and not everyone is happy with that, particularly the detective she has to work with. Is there an attraction, or is it something else?
Lily's personal life is taking a turn for the better in the form of a HOT alpha wolf, Sean and she has come to terms with the loss of her best friend Terry, several months before. The new murders are gruesome and so similar to Terry's, there must be a connection. Vampires and Weres even join forces to find justice and save their people.
Written with grit and in-your-face style, Marianne Morea has created a three-dimensional world where you almost feel the need to duck when the knives are thrown! The action and twists barrel on through the entire story with an ending that ties it all together in a neat package. There were no hanging questions, if a point was raised, there was an answer. There is great attention to detail throughout the book, with every character, every scene!

Marianne Morea brings us the long awaited sequel to her novella Hunter’s Blood in which we met Lily and Sean – human and were. Lily was out to find the were that killed her best friend Terry, and exact her revenge. Sean Leighton, Alpha Council of the Brethren, is also hunting the were who is carrying a mutant virus that drives weres crazy, and is also his brother. As we left them, Sean and Lily had fallen in love, Lily learned she was carrying the antibody for the virus, and Sean was on his way to meet with the council to determine whether Lily should be turned or should remain human.
Now, in New York City, Detective Ryan Martinez has been called to a homicide in a club where he finds the dead appear to have been drained of all their blood. Detective Ryan is able to sense strange things about the scene which he keeps to himself. The homicide turns into a high profile case. At a loss as to how to solve the murder, Ryan’s boss suggests they contact a psychic they have used before – Lily Saburi, who at the moment is pacing the floors at the were compound awaiting her fate which is being decided in the council room.
Lily learns that master manipulator Edward Parr is out to either have Sean turn her immediately, or imprison her at the compound until she can be turned. She storms the meeting and lets everyone know in no uncertain terms she will not sit still for either option. She decides to leave and go back to New York; Sean sends one of his guards Jack Cochran with her to protect her.
Ryan and Lily are assigned to work the homicide together, neither of whom are happy with the partnership. Sean is stuck back at the compound trying to maintain peace among the various weres while keeping Parr in control. When Lily visits the crime scene, she realizes there is a rogue vampire on the loose.
Sean not only has to deal with Parr’s underhanded ways, he has to meet with the vampire leader to explain the situation of the rogue vampire. Lily has to deal with a less than happy partner, and what the heck is wrong with Jack? Could things get any more complicated? Probably, considering the full moon is approaching and Lily is going to go into the equivalent of heat, attracting weres like dogs to kibble. Parr has disappeared, vampires are not happy and Lily still hasn’t been able to bring herself to face Terry’s parents and deal with her death.
Hang on your hats folks, Ms. Morea has pulled out all the stops and will keep you on your toes from beginning to end. She gives Lily not only supernatural abilities but a sarcastic mouth and a razor sharp mind all wrapped up in a package of one skilled hunter. I liked Lily when I first met her, and in Twice Cursed she continued to impress me. This woman is a force to be reckoned with, she is strong, smart, a warrior and just so darn sassy, I want to be her. Sean somehow manages to deal with her independence and not go crazy, and is still madly in love with her.
The rest of the cast of characters are no slouches either, Ryan has a mystery or two and he and Lily play off each other well. Jack is irreverent, sexy and not what he seems. Parr is the perfect villain, we know he’s not playing with a full deck and he is less than predictable so don’t even try.
There is a lot going on in this book, we have to figure out the mystery of the rogue vampire, what is Parr up to, why can Ryan seem to sense things and while dealing with all this we get breaks to enjoy such steamy hot scenes between Sean and Lily that I had to keep telling myself to breath. This book will get your heart pumping and when you’re done you will be surprised and very satisfied.

This book was given to me for free by the author in exchange for an honest review..
For me an authors calibre of writing is apparent when one can read a later book in a series and still be pulled into the story. I subsequently read Hunters Blood the first in series, which I recommend reading - very good..anyway
I was taken from the first page straight into the story from Detective Ryan Martinez arriving at a brutal crme scene. Though the main protaganist is Lily Saburi, Ryan takes us on a journey of his own and as the story progresses we see his story interlinking with Lily..though Lily is with Sean at this point, part of me wanted her to get together with Ryan and the chemistry between them is undeniable, but I will say no more about what happens between them.
Lily is called in to investigate the murders, much to the dismay of some members of the police force because she is psychic. As the crimes occur in a different city to where she is living with Sean, a good portion of the book has the characters living apart.
Marianne gives the main characters space and it adds to the depth of the story that Sean and Ryan have their own difficulties which are shared with the reader.
There are betrayals and upheavels and characters change allegiance in this fast paced book, I could barely draw breath at times.
Marianne has done it again and produced a book in which her characters are entirely believable, Lily is a modern women, who drinks, smokes and dyes her hair...she is flawed and not perfect and through these little touches, we are allowed a glimpse into her very soul.
I have read an awful lot of this particular genre and can say that this author is up there as one of my top authors, alongside Charlaine Harris, Ilona Andrews and Kelley Armstrong.
TWICE CURSED picked up exactly where HUNTER'S BLOOD left off, which was perfect for me since I hate having to go back and remember what happened in a story before I dive into the sequel. Morea has a way of captivating a reader with every word, and Lily and Sean make the perfect, heart-throbbing pair. The mysterious premise will excite you, as will Lily's inner fight when she must choose between her role as mate to Sean and her penchant to be a hunter.
I'm not one to like 'mystery' so much as romance, but I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the spicy scenes between Lily and Ryan, the mix of the real world and the supernatural, and the adventures Morea really spun in TWICE CURSED. It was a full length novel, but I gobbled it up in less than 12 hours. I recommend this to Urban Fantasy readers for sure! And if you love a good detective novel, TWICE CURSED is also for you! I've recently been into the Were/Vamp phenomena, so I definitely got my fill as well.
OMG what can i say about this book . well its awesome . from the very first page to the last. you can't put it down. I n book two for lily and sean. wht high council is in shambles and there is a rogue vampire that is going around killing people. Oh yeah and then there is the full moon mixed in there for fun and mayhem. Lily helps dective martinez who unbeknowest to him is a were. Sean ( the oozing sex and phermones alpha and lily's mate) trying to keep the weres in order and tabs on his mate . while trying not to get killed. ok no more spoilers . read the book and find out for yourself . love the ending and can't wait for the next book. I highly recoomend this book to anyone who loves a good read .
This is a tremendous follow up to Book one, Hunter's Blood in the Cursed by Blood Saga. The reader is transported from the farms and wood of Maine to heart of New York City. Ms. Morea has combined, Vamps and Weres in a thrilling story of good vs evil with just enough romance to keep you coming back for more. This one will have you staying up till the wee hours to find out who survives and who gets the girl.
Oh my goodness, what a ride! Fast paced, suspenseful, with the characters so real that you feel like you can touch them, Twice Cursed was an exciting and exhilarating read. Marianne Morea’s storytelling talent is impressive and hopefully the readers will see more from this talented writer (Ryan’s story maybe?)
Fabulously written. Flawed and loveable characters. Great plot. Everything I love about reading with a paranormal kick. So excited to read the next book!!
Action, Betrayal, Love and Unlikely Allies - Twice Cursed has it ALL!!
Twice Cursed will keep you locked within its pages from the very first paragraph. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and hope there are many more books to come!!
With tensions still running hot at the Were Compound and Edward Parr still determined to have his way when it comes to Lily joining the pack, Lily decides it time for her to make a stand. She has heard enough and intervenes in the meeting no longer wanting to see the tension continue Lily decides it is time for her to leave Sean and the Compound and return to New York. Sean is less than happy but he know nothing he does will change her mind but that doesn't mean he has to agree to let her go alone so Jack one of his trusted hunters accompanies her back to New York to keep her protected.
Returning to New York Lily is contacted by the police department seeking her help with a case. Lily is taken back when she realises the extent of what has happened and who is responsible. Now all Lily has to do is find a way to convince Ryan Martinez the Detective she will be working with that the killer is a Vampire. Lily sets out to track the killer but the closer she gets the more danger she knows she is in and when Sean senses her fear and she utter three words through their mental link 'I need You' she knows he is on his way.
The latest victim of the rogue vampire is a Were giving Sean the right to request a meeting with the Vampires and together they decide to hunt the rogue but with daylight approaching when Sean is betrayed by one of his own and Lily is kidnapped it is up to him and the Detective to track her down. Lily has had her mental link with Sean shut down so she must find a way to contact him and let him know where she is and who has betrayed him. Will Lily find a way to get her message to Sean without the wrong person intercepting it and can Detective Martinez believe what he has been told and work with Sean to find Lily and finally accept his truth.
What's a girl to do when her best friend Terry becomes a "shade", or ghost, after having been killed by a werewolf with a virus? Seek vengence! Lily does just that by tracking the diseased hairball with her psychic abilities to take him down, for good while taking out a few other shifters and vampires while she's at it! Just as she has the monster cornered, he turns the tables and before he can finish her off, she's rescued by none other than Sean, brother to the killer, but she is still the one to deal the killing blow. Lily and Sean are made for each other, and he doesn't blame her for killing his brother, but he has to show her that they aren't ALL monsters. Even Terry knows it's time for the living to move on, as she visits to say goodbye, knowing she's no longer needed now that Lily is protected by the virile Sean and his pack.
Det. Ryan Martinez enlists Lily's help to solve a horrific multiple murder. When she discovers who is responsible for them, she also begins to realize that Ryan has a past and a future that will change the rest of his life.
I would recommend this book-and the prequel novella [[ASIN:0988439611 Hunter's Blood Special Edition: Book one of the Cursed by Blood Saga (Volume 1)]] to anyone who loves paranormal romance and thriller/mystery! Can't wait for the next installment!
Twice Cursed was twice the awesomeness....what a great read! I'm so loving this series. I spent many a late night reading this book sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for what would happen next!!
Lily Saburi, psychic/telepathic investigator, returns to The Big Apple. She's torn between staying in Maine with her mate Sean, a hunky werewolf, or leave to ease the tension in the Were Compound. Bad guy Were-Cougar Edward Parr rears his ugly head once again and causes trouble for the couple.
Upon her return to New York, Lily is contacted by the police to help solve a series of grizzly murders. She is introduced to a hot hunky Detective Ryan Martinez. She senses something familiar about the cop, but isn't certain what it is. Their investigation into the murders has them joining forces with the local Vampire Council to rid the city of these vicious killers.
This story was VERY exciting and I really enjoyed the fast paced motion this tale took. I found the interaction with the Vampire Council to be very interesting. There were lots of, "didn't is that coming" moments in this book. I'm really very impressed with the writing style of Marianne Morea. I'm a paranormal romance nut and this series gives me everything I love in this genre.
This was one of the better paranormal romance stories I've read lately. The characters were three dimensional with their own voice and the plot had some mystery and suspense thrown in with the romance. I will admit there were times that I did skim, but those were the chapters where the H/H were separated. I'm a romance junkie, so if they're not together, I'm not interested. I got a little Twilight/Anita Blake feel reading this book which was fine with me, since I love both of those series. The last third of the book kept me enthralled and I didn't want the story to end with all of the twists that ocurred. Hopefully there is another book coming out because I want more LIly and Sean. It would be cool to see a baby in the future with all of the mixed up were/vampire genetics being thrown around.
This book is awesome! It continues the story from the first book Hunter's Blood. The love between Lily and Sean continues but so does the trouble. Edward is still causing trouble in the council which causes Lily to decide to go back home for awhile. When she gets there she goes right into a job where she ends up learning more about her new world and even gets kidnapped, but you will never guess who does it. There are also some sparks between her and her partner on this case. Keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next all the way to the end. Definitely worth reading! Can't wait to see if there will be more in this series.
This book was much longer than the first, and I enjoyed almost every page. I only say "almost" because there's a twist that made me so sad and I wanted to yell at the book.
Lily continues to bring her mouthy spunk. Sean brings a whole new rage of desire and true Alpha behavior. Jack and Lily's brother/sisterly relationship brings many laughs throughout the pages. I honestly couldn't get enough of the doggie references she made toward him. And Detective Ryan Martinez and his uncontrollable urges make for some awkward, but funny moments.
I downloaded Twice Cursed after reading the book one in the series, Hunter's Blood Special Edition, a couple of days ago. I couldn't put Twice Cursed down! Every question left by the free short story was answered in this full length novel along with twists I never expected and all done with humor and beautiful prose. Loved every minute of it, so much so that I read it in 2 days. A definite recommended read!
I gave the first book in the series a better rating. After all, it was her first book. I won't be reading anymore though. I would expect errors in a first book. The amount of errors in this book makes the editor and publisher look ridiculous. I think this writer needs to send out ARC'S. Your readers will catch just about everything. And they can tell you when you need to add or subtract something. Not 3 or 4 friends, 30 to 40 readers. This is my opinion.
Lily comes into her own in this book. But can she make a difference to save her place in the pack? Even staying human? Edward Parr is back making a mess of things, vampires show themselves and meet with Sean, and something unexpected from within .... well let's just say that "they didn't see this coming".
If you are interested I reading a really great shifter book this is it. From the moment you start to read Lily and Sean's story you will not put it down. But make sure you read the novella first. It keep me on the edge of my set and when the bok carne to the end I was so happy. You will love it.
I really liked the book it followed through with the first book very nicely. the only complaint I have is that Sean is way to pushy and controlling for my taste but that just a person thing. Sean is an interesting person. cant wait for a third one.
Loved this book! Absolutely loved how she delved into the Were world and the vampire world too. Can't wait to read what happens next with Sean and Lily.
This is the continuation from Hunters Blood. I could not put it down. Marianne Morea make you feel you are right there with the characters. This is a must read!
