Spoilers

A decent enough read. It could have done with a few more twists and turns though — it was all rather predictable.

-In the first half Evie was really melodramatic, cliched, and self-pitying. I know she thought Lucas was dead but instead of whining she could have been more proactive, and plotted revenge against all the bad guys. Instead she just whinged - I wanted more attitude and craziness.

-It was so obvious that Lucas was still alive. I don't know why so many YA books go down the route of either 'killing' off the hero or giving the hero a death sentence as a cliffhanger — it's really annoying, and just cheap drama. I wish an author would be brave enough to actually kill off the hero for good.

-Cyrus was okay. I'm hoping he doesn't get his own spin-off with some wide eyed, virginal, feisty doormat. Ugh. If he does get a spin off, he'd only be suited to someone with similar experiences in love and sex.

-I rolled my eyes at Selena's character, she was the typical mean girl who disliked Evie for no reason whatsoever. But I have to say she was awesome at the end.

-The whole 'white light' prophecy pissed me off. It was always Evie who was meant to save everyone by sacrificing herself, but that was changed for the sake of a quick HEA.

-So Evie and Lucas's child will be the white light? Why would they want a child if they have to watch them die at a young age?

All in all, it was mostly entertaining. The characters, plot, and romance were all really predictable though — it was the same as any other paranormal YA book.

4.5 Stars!

You all know how much of a fan I am of Sarah Alderson’s work because she continually knocks out fantastic and well written work and after reading Shadowed, I don’t think I could ever be disappointed with her work. It definitely lived up to every expectation I had.

In Shadowed we see Evie deal with the aftermath of the events from Fated and honestly, it’s not easy but once again, the world she lives in never stops and she soon has to team up with the remaining Rogue Hunters to stop more evil.

I really loved Shadowed! I literally devoured it within 24 hours because it’s just so hard to put down. This finale brings so much excitement but mostly it brings suspense. If you’ve read this series you will know there are two major characters who aren’t present because of the events in Fated but don’t worry, Sarah manages to bring these two great characters back into the fold and honestly, without them it wouldn’t have been the same.

Evie is such a great character. It’s hard not to love her. I loved how much more emotional she was this time around and Lucas, yes, I love him too. Always and forever! And Cyrus, I think he should have his own story, seriously he's an awesome character.

Now for the ending, for a finale I felt the story was left wide open – an epilogue would have been fantastic but, I can kind of see WHY that couldn’t have happened now. It’s not something I can explain unless you’ve read the story because otherwise it will ruin the whole experience of this book for you, but yeah, I felt like Evie and Lucas’s story isn’t over. I’ve heard Sarah may re-visited this series in the future and I so hope she does, maybe not even a full length book but a novella set like 20 years into the future would be awesome.

In all, Sarah Alderson amazes me once again and Shadowed is nothing short of amazing! If you haven’t read this series, then I highly suggest you do, you need to visit this wonderful and exciting world.

SPOILERS FOR BOOKS 1 AND 2

Shadowed, is the third and final series in the Fated series. And was I happy with it's conclusion? Well, mostly.

Shadowed begins a few weeks from when Severed ends. The portal is closed, but Lucas and Cyrus are dead. With both of these having been such awesome characters, part of me wondered where Sarah was going to go from here, how could she justify what she did, and another part of me had my suspicions of what may happen and I was hoping I was right.

Evie, is back in her hometown, lost and broken hearted, and suffering the stares and whispers of the locals, wondering what's going on with her. She looks like a junkie, having lost weight and with bags under her eyes but the locals can't decide if she's a drug addict or just upset at being dumped by Lucas. She can't tell anyone what happened, not even her mum, as she can't reveal that other world that she's part of.

She wants revenge! And hopes that with the death of Victor, she can heal a little bit of herself. So, she plans to hunt him down and kill him. But the decision is taken out of her hands, when Ash and Vero, two of the rogue hunters, show up at her home with the news that more originals came through before the portal closed and the death toll is now rising out of control in LA, with the creation of many new thirsters. They need Victor's help, so she can't kill him, yet!

Just like in Sarah's Lila series, this series has some fantastic secondary characters. The rogue hunters Ash and Vero, Lucas' sister Flic and her boyfriend Jamieson, the unhumans, and even Victor, who you will love to hate. With the law of the unhumans not revealing themselves being flouted, our hunters find themselves being hunted, and with only a few of them left, it will be to extinction. But obviously this means, we are treated to a lot of fast paced, nerve wracking action.

However, the love triangle was more apparent in this one and it wasn't one that I could easily solve. Both guys had stole my heart, and it was so hard choosing a favourite, but I did, and after some nail biting moments, things went my way in the end.

Also, the ending is left quite open, with some important details not being tied up. I definitely feel that we could have done with an epilogue for this one.

Update: I've spoken with Sarah about the ending and she has hinted that she may revisit this world in the future. I feel it's a place she really needs to go if she want's to keep Fated fans happy. But, she also tied up one of my concerns about a favourite character of mine. I'm sure most of you who've read this know who I'm talking about, and all is well with him.

When I got a copy of Shadowed to review as part of the Shadowed blog tour(stop by on April 3rd), I was all over the place. I had been dying for the book since the ending to Severed so when I got my hands on the copy, ka boom.

Despite being so happy I was also scared.. what if things didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to? What if Lucas was really dead? I mean I didn’t believe he was but what if… I would have lost it. Besides I didn’t want the series to end, this was the final book there would be no more after this one. This was it. So I sat there staring at the book like:

After a day I ‘manned up’, mostly because I couldn’t wait anymore, I had the book, I needed to read it. I needed to KNOW!

So it wasn’t the best book in the series, I wasn’t disappointed, I just wanted more. Like 600 pages or something. I love the series too much. It just wasn’t enough to satisfy my needs.

Evie’s determination, as always, is one of the things that make her a great character, but in this book we are also dealing with her grief over the loss of Lucas. I like how she transitions from a state of total depression to one where she wants to get up and do something, where she wants revenge.  But I also love that despite this need for revenge she can still think straight, she knows when she is about to make a bad decision.

I love how Cyrus (yes he is alive, but you find this out early on in the book so technically it isn’t a spoiler) changes over the course of the two books, from a Cocky guy he becomes someone who is confused and then someone who falls in love. It’s rather cute to watch him fall in love.

I am glad that in this book we saw more of Flic, in the last book there wasn’t much of her but I really liked her character, the way she was loyal towards her brother and ready to do anything for him even when he made stupid decisions. She easily became one of my favorite characters in the series (my favorite being Lucas).

One thing I was upset about was that I wish we got to see more of her relationship with her mother. I  though her mother was an interesting character and I loved their relationship in the first book and I was hoping we could see more in this book, but in what little we do see, Evie is rather rude to her mother, she knows she is but she cannot tell her mother the truth. The other relationships in this book were interesting as well, but I won’t talk about them.

The plot itself is rather interesting, you could claim that some of the things were random but I don’t believe they were. The hints were always there in the other two books if you think about it.

But really, I love the ending, sometimes I’ll read it again because it makes me happy. I wanted more but I think it’s the perfect way to end the series. It’s an open ending but there is a closure of sorts. We still get to imagine all of our beloved characters fighting and saving the world, we know that it doesn’t end there for them even if our journey with them is over.

Many thanks to Sarah for providing me with a review copy. No seriously. I really needed this!

I cried at the end of Severed. I cried for about 10 minutes. Over the course of Fated and Severed I had become so connected to the characters that I was in utter shock at the ending. Shadowed could not come soon enough.

In Shadowed we pick up more or less where we left Evie, devastated and looking for revenge. If you've read the first two books in the series you'll know that in the Fated world, nothing stays the same for very long and the true is the same of Shadowed. From word go, we are flung back into this action packed world, meeting new characters and growing with the old ones.

At the end of Severed, Evie seemed to lose so much and what I liked most about Shadowed was how she dealt with the loss. It felt real and all-consuming without making the story depressing. The twists and turns of the story see to it that that loss is transformed into numerous different emotions and I felt like I was there with Evie the whole time. She's a fantastic central character and she has been surrounded in this world by a great supporting cast.

I don't want to give any of the story away so I won't write much more, other than to say I loved Shadowed. I couldn't pick a favourite book in this series, they are all so good. Sarah shows again that when it comes to the supernatural world, she's one of the best and most creative writers out there. Would I like another book in this series? Yes. Is there space for one? Yes. But if there isn't one, I think the story has been well rounded out.

I'll definitely be re-visting the Fated trilogy again and again. Lucas and Cyrus may just be two of my favourite male characters ever written. Cyrus is definitely in my top 5.

I loved the other books of this series and this one was a big hit too. I totally loved it. It was a quick read, which kept me awake late at night as I couldn't stop reading. It was fast-paced and even if some events are a bit predictable I loved it nonetheless. I don't know if there will be a fourth book, there might be one, but maybe not. The ending is quite open, and even if I don't really like those kind of endings, this one feels right and I loved it. Some threads are not solved yet, but it is not really bothering me. However I would be very happy if there were another book, maybe a kind of spin-off set in twenty years (I think you will understand after reading Shadowed).

I'm a huge fan of Sarah Alderson and I loved all her books, so now I really can't wait for the next one.

Not a fan of the story line, personally.

I think you might have to be a fantasy or sci-fi reader to appreciate this one. She's a great writer so if you like this genre, I think it will read well for you.

After the killer ending to Severed I have been waiting months to get my hands on the final instalment to Sarah Alderson's Fated series. I couldn't wait to read Shadowed and find out for sure what really happened to all of my favourite characters, I honestly didn't have a clue what to expect from this book and I was kind of scared to read it in case I didn't like the way things turned out. It's actually going to be really difficult to write this review because I can't say too much about what happened in it without giving major spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the book. I think I'm going to have to keep things quite general because I want you to go into it completely blind just like I did.

One thing I can say about Shadowed is that it kept me on the edge of my seat, I went from shocked to elated, back to shocked, slipped into horrified followed by a taste of relieved before being shocked all over again. Really Sarah Alderson turned my world upside down more times than I can count and she left me reeling with the way things unfolded. No matter what you think is going to happen she will find a way to keep you guessing and that is one of the things I've enjoyed about this whole series.

The Evie we see in this instalment is very different to the Evie we've come to know and love in the previous books, she has been through a lot and her grief has changed her. She is now focused on revenge, she believes that if she can just make Victor pay then it will make her feel better. She is first and foremost a hunter though and when a group of Originals go on a killing spree she knows that she has to join the battle to stop them. It is going to take every resource the rebel hunters have to stop the Originals and that includes their Unhuman allies and even Victor. As much as she hates the idea of working alongside the man who destroyed her family she is grown up enough to put her revenge to one side for the sake of humanity no matter how painful she finds it to do so.

I refuse to mention any other characters in this review - you're just going to have to read the book for yourself to find out who makes an appearance. Shadowed is a satisfying ending to the Fated series, it answers enough of my questions to not leave me hanging but does leave things open enough that further books could be added in the future and I for one hope that we will see more of Evie and her friends somewhere down the line. If you have enjoyed the previous books then you really won't want to miss the conclusion to Evie's journey!

Sarah creates a world where Demons run free and Shadow Warriors are born to kill them (a lot like Shadow Hunters in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare) Evie is part of an old prophecy that she believes she followed through on, but when more Demons appear and things are turned awry nothing is what it seems. Enemies and friends will have to unite in this one epic battle against good versus evil. Which one will prevail? Read the series to find out! ;)

After reading the horrible cliffhanger of an ending in Severed I knew I had to buy this book right away, and I did. I put off reading it though due to time constraints and the fact that I still wasn't over the ending of the second book.

I'm glad I eventually did read it because I absolutely adored it (like all of Sarah Alderson's other books)! I really didn't know what to expect in this book and was definitely surprised by the two major plot twists. I won't tell you any spoilers but you will not see it coming. Also Evie goes through an emotional change driving her actions in a different direction. She channels all her grief into revenge which leads to some interesting events. The end of the book was absolutely perfect. The ending note leaves the reader feeling satisfied yet allows enough room for another book to be written.

Sarah Alderson managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire novel, furiously flipping through the pages to find out what happens next. I hope to see more of Evie and her friends in the future! ❤

My Favorite Quote:

" 'You said once that life takes us down a path, that leads us places that sometimes we don't want to go." He smiled, his fingers stroking along her cheekbone. 'But it always, always brings us to exactly the point where we're supposed to be,' he murmured, leaning down and kissing her. "

5/5 stars in my opinion!

Shadowed is the third book in Sarah Alderson's Fated series. While I enjoyed Fated and Severed, the first two books in this series, I was stressed out for the majority of the time I read Shadowed, and as a result it was just not a fun book for me at all. For the first half of the story I was worried whether certain characters were still alive, and then for the rest I was worried whether two people would ever reconnect. Also during that time a potential love triangle was plaguing me like a buzzing bumblebee threatening me with its stinger. Instead of being excited about all the action and swoon, my nerves where high for most of the time that I was reading this one. All of you should take this with a side of "Lauren doesn't like love triangles." I've also found that waiting until the very end of a series for two people to connect is just not fun for me. However, I was satisfied with how this story ended, and Alderson is still an author that I enjoy.

Love Triangle Factor: Felt at least medium, but realistically mild.
Cliffhanger Scale: Series conclusion. (Author has hinted that there may be another book in this series but I believe it will feature a different MC).

I was a little disappointed with the lack of Lucas in the final to this trilogy, and my heart was in my throat at times; I had no idea where Sarah Alderson was going to go with this - it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire way through it.

I loved Cyrus so much, even though he changed a lot from the second book - understandably - but I did kinda miss sassy, flirty says-what-he-likes Cyrus after a while. I mean, new Cyrus is a sweetie, and at times old Cyrus comes through, but I found this new side of him a little clingy after a while. That being said, I felt really bad for him during the last chapters.

I'm so so happy that Lucas and Evie ended up together! My heart was literally breaking for him, but all was well at the end. I would've liked to have seen a few more reunion chapters between them, but hey, I'm just happy they were endgame!

This was definitely a different feel to the first two books- a little darker and grown up in a way? You can really feel and relate to Evie's devastation, but she always pick herself up and is a complete badass when it comes to it. Go gurl.

Great end to a great series, Sarah Alderson is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors.

I really liked this series and am a huge fan of Sarah Alderson. I've read all of her books.
It didn't take me long to read this book because I couldn't put it down. I really wanted to know what happened to Evie and Lucas.
The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because I felt there were some questions that were left unanswered. For example, what happens to Cyrus. Does he ever fall in love? What happens to Vero and Ash? Do they still fight or do they give it up? And the big question I have is (spoiler)How does Evie and Lucas' child shut the way through? I hope Sarah rights another book in the future about what happens to Lucas and Evie.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to reading more books written by Sarah Alderson.

Oh yet another book series left with a wide open ending. Yes, you tied up one part of a rather obvious ending (I'm really starting to hate obvious love triangles) but even though it ended, it kind of doesn't. Kind of thought there would be more of a resolution to this series. Instead, I feel like she has just tacked a sheet over a hole in the wall to hide the obvious fact that its not finished. We all know its still there....Wait, that's kind of what happened, minus the sheet....

Is this series over? I hope not. This is a really quick, fun read and I always enjoy reading about all the different characters. Evie has really grown since book 1 and the different points of view really add to the storyline. I hope there are more books to come, but if not I will surely miss the series!

It was a nice finish but some of my questions were'nt answered.
Yes, Evie and Lucas were fated, why? And what does the sun, light and giver mean in the prophecy. It was not elaborated or it was just me. Sorry. Anyway it was a nice series after all. And i would surely read it if there is another series that comes after this one :))

2.5 stars. It was still enjoyable but I was annoyed that for 97% of the book we didn't have Evie & Lucas together (seriously Lucas & Evie don't interact AT ALL until the last chapter). For most of the book Evie thinks Lucas is dead so she is missing him and Cyrus (who is a completely different and now likable character) being all supportive and boyfriend like. It was weird.

This is more a 4.5 star rating. The only reason it doesn't get a 5 is because Sarah messed with my emotions so much in this book. I love you for it and at the same time I hate you!

Well damn. It's been very long since a character in a book made me want to throw the book across the room (in this case there were two). So this was quite nerve-wracking and refreshing.

All in all, it was a great ending to a series.
