This story is set in a world where people are aware that shifters exist to a degree, but prejudice against them is also ripe. Adam was tossed from his home at 15 when his parents determine he is a shifter. He finds out about a group of shifter wolves and travels to be with them where they take him into the pack, although it’s clear they use him, spending all of his hard-earned money on beer and pizza for themselves, not really caring if Adam has enough for himself. However he’s so starved for family and for someone to care about him, he just takes it. Finally the night of his first shift arrives and … it all goes horribly wrong. When he shifts the wolves attack him and he soon figures out he’s a bird shifter. He never even knew such a thing existed. After flying for sometime he attempts to land, but his wing has been badly injured in the attack and he ends up crash landing and being rescued by the local forest ranger.
Only Chuck is not alone, he’s living with eagle shifter Tam. The two take care of him until he can heal enough to shift, but Adam is not happy. He’s lost his “family” and to top it off, he’s a turkey buzzard, not one of the most attractive birds out there. Oh and now he’s crushing on Chuck and Tam who he knows are a couple. When he finally heals he goes back to town to face the music but it doesn’t go well. He’s arrested for stealing from the grocery store where he worked and no one believes his story of being with Chuck the whole time, and when they finally prove that, he’s attacked by the pack.
There are flashes of humour here and I liked the idea of the story, but I was left with a few concerns/questions. Chuck and Tam leave Adam alone several times in town, and each time he gets in more and more difficult situations. Wouldn’t you stick next to your guy if he’s been arrested unfairly? And 99% of the time Adam spends with Chuck and Tam he’s in his bird form, so what was the attraction between the three? Was it a mates thing? I just wasn’t sure what brought them together beyond taking care of the little lost waif.
There were a few different concepts, birds can shift at will, wolves can’t making for a bit of jealousy between the species, and there were some cute parts as Adam accepts who/what he is, but on the whole I felt something was missing, a few parts that could have fleshed it out a bit more for me. Still, it’s nice to see a shifter that isn’t something traditionally “sexy” for a change.

Sinceramente no ha sido de las mejores novelas sobre hombres lobo/cambiaformas que haya leído, pero sí estuvo entretenida y me gustó como se desarrolló la relación entre el trío protagonista. Recomendable

When the night of Adam’s first shift arrives, he is very excited. There is only one problem, Adam does not shift into a wolf but something else entirely. As soon as he shifts, he becomes the instant enemy of the wolf pack he has been living on the outskirts of for the last few years. So much so that he is attacked. It is only by his own quick thinking that he is able to save himself. It is not long after that Chuck and Tam find the wounded shifter, but will they be able to convince Adam that he is beautiful as he is, and that they very much want him to be a part of their family?
I was very pleasantly surprised by this story, and I LOVED the ending. The world building sticks closely to how animals actually are in the real world, and this allows the characters and with their human sides to remain true to this as well. The sex when it happens is ultra eyebrow scorching hot, and the emotions that Mr. Winter very skillfully mixed in, really adds to the story. In short, this is a story I will be reading again, and again, and I will definitely be picking up more books by this author. I would recommend that you do so as well!

Vic Winter – Wolf Moon (Review)

Okay, at first, I thought I was going to be reading another wolf shifter story. Even though I don’t mind these sorts of books, I was a bit like this:
Arrogant Alpha’s
Weak Omega’s
Destined Mates
Politics…
But then, as I read on, I realised I was reading about wolves but I wasn’t. It turns out the shifter is this:
Overal though, I think the book was too short at 36 pages. I would have loved to have read more about Adam, Tam and Chuck. I wanted Jef to get a heavy boot up his arse, too.
I also think the sex part wasn’t needed. It felt like it was put in just because. Should have left it out, would have made it…just more without.
Other than that, loved it.

Ok, shorts get more leeway from me, but I did really like this one.
Adam, poor Adam, I wanted to take him in and give his parents a piece of my mind, for kicking him out at 15 because.....you think you know..but it's because he has a shifter mutation.
Because he had to survive on his own he fell in with a pack of wolves that aren't very nice to him and his life in general just sucks.
When he finally,finally is able to shift and he shifts into...not a wolf*....and the wolves want to eat him ..
Poor Adam, he is rescued and nursed back to health by Chuck a ranger and his partner Tam and eagle shifter!
The only thing missing for me was a build of the relationship between the three men, I didn't get to see any of it!
On the up side, there was no solo jerk off scenes, no instant mate bond (or any mate bond) I just needed that little something 'more' to see the attraction and relationship potential from Tan and Chuck, since Adam was sure to think it's a dream come true considering his previous life!
* what he turns into is so cute, well not really, but I love unusual shifters! :)

I really liked this novella by one of my favourite authors, Vic Winter.
I thought the main character, Adam, was very well drawn, and the people he ran into throughout seemed believable too.
The story was a very different shifter story, as Adam didn't turn into the wolf he'd been expecting to become all his life, but into a very different creature indeed.
I rarely (very rarely) read threesomes, but this one had me hooked well before the end, when the sex occurs so seamlessly I hardly noticed I was reading a threesome, but was just so happy Adam had found a home. It was beautifully done imo.
I'd rec this to lovers of shifter stories, and sweet romances. It certainly left me with a smile on my face.
I love the cover by BS Clay, someone I haven't heard of before. The snarling wolf if adorable, and perfect for the story.
All in all, well done Torquere.
