Amazon's consistently top-ranked book on the breed since its publication back in 2006, The Havanese is packed with very breed-specific information on this charming little Cuban dustmop. Topics ranging from the correct method for line-brushing a Havanese coat to how to get what may well be the world's pickiest breed to actually eat are covered in a breezy, easy-to-read style. Illustrated in black and white, The Havanese is eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime, and is now available in a Kindle edition.
Lots of good information and a good introduction to the breed, but some of it is slightly neurotic and not necessarily accurate. If anything gives you concern (especially the sections on finicky eating and high-maintenance grooming), talk to your breeder to find out the reality of their particular animals.
For a dog breed info/handbook, this truly kicked ass. Honestly, I'd give it five stars if I didn't feel so strangely about giving that kind of rating to a "dog book." I learned a few new things about this great breed, which I plan on adding to my family this winter. Such as, they are little stinker eaters and not to give in to their wonton desires and that it might be a good idea if a create a 4 foot by 4 foot penned in area whilst the one is wee so it doesn't wee all over everything. Diane Klumb has a great sense of humor, and if it wasn't for the dreary chapters on health (I just couldn't keep up with all the lingo) I think I would have read this "just for fun," even if I wasn't TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH THIS BREED.
