Story: **** I don't know who was first but this is remarkably like England's "Axa"-> but it's a touch better. Even more far-out fun (at her expense). She is the same rogue female anti-establishment maverick who is on her own or occasionally with a valiant guy matching hostility diabolical while living in a future world-> after a massive war that pulverized the planet. This is written a tit tighter though.
He uses top tier luscious erotic language and a sensual set of words that illicit a genuine turn-on during the sex scenes. The plot, while outrageous, works well within itself. Sure, there are "oh, c'mons" afoot but they get waived as artistic liscensry.
Art: **** His art is wonderfully sexy and the machines/creatures that he incorporates are very interesting in his array of weird worldlyness. Uninhibitedly, he often shows her curly bush and near penetration-> which is much more titillating than the newspaper strip formatted and UK watchdogged "Axa". Set-up wise, the way he constructs pages with panels boxed and boxless which are very interesting and captivating in their ornate originality.
It seems like he lettered it with a paint brush (impressive) but you can tell that a pencil/pen was used to fill out those pieces of letters that didn't reproduce well.
Genre-bending erotic adventure of a young heroine: space opera, viking saga, sci-fi, fantasy, you name it. Clearly inspired by Barbarella and the like, but much more explicit in every asoect. Quite daring in its criticism of religion and political oppression for its time. Some of the dialogue is fun, but the emphasis ckearly is on the visuals. Though some of the sex might be described as warm indeed, other episodes are rather cruel and have to be labeled as rape. Am not okay with downplaying this act of violence with psychodelic imagery. The art work is of mixed quality, male faces not really being a forte. Lovely job with the hand-lettering. Nevertheless hard to believe that it took 30 hours to finish one page.
