Castle Sin is a dark BDSM suspense series, and the full series was published throughout 2019 – 2021. This is the prequel, where it all began...
Do you have what it takes to pass his tormenting tests?
Beware of Master Crow. He has… The touch of Midas. The fire of a Dragon. The endurance of a Tiger.
Hunter Sutton, owner of Club Sensations, is a powerful Dominant who excels in tormenting women into submission. Only the best survives his rigorous mastery, his powerful demands as they vie for that elusive free pass to attend the submissive training academy at Castle Sin.
Where they’ll meet seven Masters. Train in seven dungeons. Experience seven times the kink. But only once they graduate from the Sensations Sub Academy.
Come inside, my pet… if you dare.
Although the blurb is in first person, the book is written in third person .
“Isn’t it a universal truth that it’s our singular experiences and passion, for whatever thing or things, which molds us all into the individuals we become? Whether it's hidden in the depths of our soul or exposed for all to see?”
Linzi Basset is a South African born animal rights supporter with a poet’s heart, and she is also a bestselling fiction writer of suspense filled romance erotica books; who as the latter, refuses to be bound to any one sub-genre. She prefers instead to stretch herself as a storyteller which has resulted in her researching and writing historical and even paranormal themed works.
Her initial offering: Club Alpha Cove, a BDSM club suspense series released back in 2015, reached Amazon’s Bestseller list, and she has been on those lists ever since. Labeling her as prolific is a gross understatement as just a few short years later she has now been published over a hundred times.
“I write from the inside out. My stories are both inside me and a part of me so it can be either pleasurable to release them or painful to carve them out. I live every moment of every story I write. So, if you're looking for spicy and suspenseful, I'm your girl... woman... writer... you know what I mean!"
Linzi believes that by telling stories in her own voice, she can better share with her readers the essence of her being: her passionate nature; her motivations; and her wildest fantasies. She feels every touch as she writes, every kiss, every harsh word uttered, and this to her is the key to a never-ending love of writing.
Ultimately, all books by Linzi Basset are about passion. To her, passion is the driving force of all emotion; whether it be lust, desire, hate, trust, or love. This is the underlying message contained in her books.
Her advice: “Believe in the passions driving your desires; live them; enjoy them; and allow them to bring you happiness.”

_Hunter_ is a prequel to the Castle Sin series, which I have not yet read.
The D/s in this book (and presumably the series) is quite stylized. Lots of training, lots of protocol, very experienced Doms and Dommes. A full-bore (actually a national set of full-bore) submissive academies leading to Castle Sin. Some of the author's other series (for example, Club Alpha Cove) have similar really heavy protocol. That may or may not be your cup of tea.
This book is as much in the genre of suspense as BDSM romance. The chemistry between Hunter and Lilith is hot and great. The scenes are well depicted. The suspense is great.
I got a feeling that it was cut short -- likely because of book length constraints. That dropped my rating because the ending really was rushed. I will put further comments about that in a spoiler tag.
So, very enjoyable but with plot loose ends. I will read the series.
"Hunter" by Linzi Basset is a gripping prequel to the Castle Sin series, setting the stage for dark BDSM suspense. At the helm is Hunter Sutton, a formidable Dominant who tests women's limits at Club Sensations. Only the most resilient earn entry to Castle Sin's submissive training academy. Basset crafts a tantalizing narrative, blending dominance and submission with suspenseful twists. Despite the blurb's first-person allure, the book unfolds in third person, adding depth to characters and plot. With its alluring premise and intense exploration of power dynamics, "Hunter" beckons readers into a world of seduction and danger.
I liked it but didnt love it. I was very disappointed in the ending only due to the fact that it felt very rushed. The beginning and middle were great. Good characters, good plot, but then it fizzled out. Same 'ol blah HEA ending. Very disappointing. I do love a good HEA, but this one was just a bummer. Now I'm hesitant to read more from this author. Time will tell. I've read better BDSM books tho.
Linzi Bassett knows not only how to edge her characters but also her readers! Oh for the climax! Lilith gains entry to Club Sensations to find out all she can about Hunter Sutton and his latest software. She has no idea he is the decadent and devastating Dom, Master Crow who turns her world upside down and inside out. Will she be able to keep lying to the man who makes every part of her throb or will she give in.
We all wanted this prequel to the Castle Sin Series. Absolutely amazing!
Hunter is a very powerful man and dominant. Lilith believes she can best the beast. Oh boy is she in for the surprise of her life. The chemistry between the two of them will burn up your Kindle. Linzi gives you the best of everything mystery, suspense, lust and love.
I definitely recommend Linzi’s Basset and her books!
The story is good if you like BDSM but the writing is awful. I’d read a sentence referring to something that seemed to have occurred previously in book & couldn’t find anything (happened multiple times). Also use of pronouns with confusing reference, unexplained gaps in story line ……. The list of elements a poor writing goes on. I will never read another book by this author
Interesting to read a new prequel to a series that you had finished long ago. Ms. Basset has said that she enjoyed returning to these characters and so did I.
What a story! I’m a huge lover of the Castle Sins series and was excited to find out there would be a story telling how it all came to be. In usual fashion, it’s not all about BDSM, it tells a story of mystery, espionage and lust and love. What a perfect mix! Hunter is the owner of a BDSM Club who helps to train men and women how to be the perfect submissive. When Hunter sees a particular woman, he is intrigued by her. She is beautiful and fiery! Lilith is a career woman with a soft side, but is she training to be a submissive or is there more to her story? The instant attraction they have for each other is smoldering and their chemistry is sizzling! As she embarks on her journey, will Hunter find out the truth? Will she be able to keep up the facade from him? I loved the push and pull between them and hoped they would end up together! I truly loved this story and the characters and everything about it! Now I want to reread the whole Castle Sins series again!!
One of my favorite series. Hunter, dark, hard, believes he is ti untouchable by any submissive. Til she appears during roll call for the parade of new submissive. Is she there to be trained or cause a train wreck. He never descends the owner viewing room during the Q&A, parade if you will. He's drawn towards the flames, she's got something he she's, can she fix the crack in his heart or make it colder. He's such a pompous ass, I wanted to throttle him so many times ... why couldn't he see she was in trouble, scared and brave to put herself in danger. What is with these men, claim to ve the vest of the best...but most can't see what's in front of them, then has to rush to save what's theirs. Great read.
I loved Hunter from the beginning. Hunter and Lilith’s chemistry burns off of the pages. Once you start reading you are hooked. There’s heated passion, excitement, twists and turns and so much more. This prequel will draw you in and make you crave more in The Castle Sin series. Oh My you have to experience a sensational, scorching, powerful, exciting Doms of Castle Sin in which I cannot recommend or say enough of. A must must captivating, fiery, addictive story that you will read again and again.
I loved Hunter and Lilith's story. It was steamy and had me wondering what would happen and how it would end the whole time. I loved both characters and I loved how we get to see the characters of 'Castle Sin' as well. Enthralling read! I received a review copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
Hunter by Linzi Basset is a prequel to her Castle Sin series, and it's the perfect teaser to jump into the series if you haven't read it yet. If you did read that series, you know what to expect : a very well-written romantic suspense BDSM story with the appearance of our fav Masters. Ember and Master Crow are just perfect for each other but lies and deception gives us a page-turner story.
Castle Sin is my favourite series from Linzi Bassett and so Torment Me was a wonderful surprise and I loved it just as I did the original series. It had some really hot BDSM scenes, intrigue and mystery, great characters and a great happy ending. A wonderful addition to the series and a great read.
