Silvia's Dad loves re-enacting Roman battles on Hadrian’s Wall – unfortunately, he’s stumbled through a one-way portal back to ancient Rome and dragged the whole family along for the ride. Silvia thought she was an ordinary schoolgirl – turns out, she’s half-goddess.
And wait until you meet the rest of her her uncle’s raising an army, her mum’s a warrior goddess and her dad ... well, he ends up turning to lava (don’t ask).
But it’s Silvia who now has the fate of the world resting on her shoulders …

Another fabulous offering from one of my favourite authors. It’s a brilliant, unique story idea! Silvia is a great main character. I love strong girl characters. She learns to be brave and follow her instincts to make the right decisions that will save the world- past and present. I really loved how she found out the she was a demo-god and had some very famous Roman mythology characters for brothers and sisters. There were lots of funny moments, particularly during the battle sequences! I found myself chuckling a lot! There was also a glossary at the end to help with the terminology used throughout. There was such attention to detail throughout, showing just how much time and effort the author put into creating this book. Absolutely loved it!
I love funny history books and this had me snorting out loud - the humour in this book is utterly bonkers, perfect for the target reader age, hugely enjoyable, with great characters. It's also sneaking in a solid bit of history too, and I think this would make a great addition to any class library looking at Romans as a topic .
This was cute. What happens when you’re sucked into Ancient Rome, find out that some FAMOUS names are actually related to you and YOUVE got to save the world? Well, that’s Liv’s story… I enjoyed this. I love anything with mythology in. It was nice for Hadrians Wall to get a shout out too!
Hugely entertaining and educational with lively illustrations and a fun glossary, this is the perfect read for kids studying the Romans in KS2. Livi's adventures straddle the modern world of cosplay and Ancient Rome - fans of Horrible Histories will LARP this up (see what I did there?)! Five stars.
Fun time-slip adventure that combines Ancient Roman history with a message of accepting diversity, for middle grade readers. My full review is here: http://vsviewfromthebookshelves.home....
We absolutely loved this one! Packed with fun and adventure - it was brilliant. It is the prefect book to use in KS2 for Romans topics and my 10yr old loved it!
