this book was suggested by a tweep 'Aqib Zulfikar' urf ruggerboi. Excellent spiritual experience. I appreciate the imagination and rational thoughts of the writer. But overly exaggerated philosophy of love (ishk e majazi) was aggravating. the best part was supernatural happenings :p the baffling and incomplete insight to Judaism left me inquisitive.

It was much better than the first book (which was also extremely exciting) as all the mysteries of a spiritual journey comes to an epic end.

This was the second and the LAST book i read of Hashim Nadeem. Never on earth would i want to read his work again for his every single sentence is extremely exaggerated. I would never have read Abdullah -2 hadn't i already bought it while i was reading Abdullah 1.

Yes, its an important subject but i cannot digest his diction. Not everyone in the story speaks the same way, not everyone in the book feels the same way! Hashim Nadeem seriously needs to think about this. After page 250, i literally skimmed the pages just to finish it ASAP.
Since i have been extremely annoyed with the book, hence 1 star from me.

Happy reading you all!

Speechless. I wish i could give more stars to this book! Its a master piece.
Personal search has always been the area of interest in East. This novel best describes the journey and human behavior. Reasons, quest, rationales, multiple personalities and emcompassing fight between right and wrong to take charge/control. Love, despair and soul searching. Excellent read.

Published in the Sunday Magazine, episode wise after the success of the first part, this book was hard to resist because of all the memories associated with Abdullah. However, it was not as good as the first book.

The most ghastly chapter to me was "ham zaat" (or whatever its name was) when the rich boy suffers from dual personality disorder. And also i wan to see the heroine :')

After a long hiatus following my disappointment with Abdullah 1, I reluctantly decided to read Abdullah 2. My reasoning was simple: I wanted to finish the books I had already purchased before adding more to my collection. However, my experience with this sequel only reinforced my earlier misgivings about the series.

The storyline in Abdullah 2 feels repetitive and lacks depth. Much like its predecessor, the narrative involves Abdullah and Sultan Baba traveling from one place to another, solving isolated problems before moving on to the next task. Unfortunately, this episodic structure comes across as disjointed and uninspired. Even more troubling is how some of the stories feel like blatant spin-offs of other works by the same author. For instance, Bakhtyar’s arc closely mirrors the character Parizaad, while Rehan’s story is reminiscent of the drama serial Ishq Zahe Naseeb. These parallels detract from the originality and creativity that one would expect in a sequel.

Furthermore, the lack of logic in the storytelling is frustrating. Many plotlines are riddled with inconsistencies and defy basic reasoning, leaving the reader questioning the authenticity of the narrative. The characters’ actions often seem implausible, making it hard to stay invested in their journeys.

Another glaring issue is the writing style. Every character—regardless of age, gender, or background—speaks in the same philosophical tone. This uniformity strips the dialogue of individuality, making it impossible to differentiate one character from another based on their speech. A good narrative thrives on distinct voices that reflect a character’s personality and circumstances, but this book fails to deliver that nuance.

From a thematic perspective, Abdullah 2 continues to glorify certain actions that are hard to justify, such as abandoning familial responsibilities in the name of spirituality. The idea of leaving a crying mother behind to pursue a so-called "divine path" felt deeply unsettling in Abdullah 1, and this sequel does little to address such concerns. It also perpetuates clichéd portrayals of love and spirituality, offering nothing fresh or meaningful to ponder.

In conclusion, Abdullah 2 fell far below expectations, much like its predecessor. The recycled plots, lack of logic, and monotonous writing style made it a tiresome read. While I may eventually muster the courage to read the third and final installment of this series, it won’t be anytime soon. For now, I’m rating this book one star and hoping for more fulfilling reads in the future.

Well it was good but still had some flaws. The story took an intense height with gru and abdullah (Sahir) S public competition but as soon as sahir comes back from London the story gets too slow as if the writer wanted to escape from the writing of Palestine. The handicapped man whom Zehra was about to marry because she was responsible for it really took me from Urdu literature to a perfect Hindi dramatic movie . And honestly sultan baba remained alive when sahir remained like forever in deep slumber then finally he is dead. But even apart from that one thing which was most irritating to me was that goldsmith Parker aka gru gave sahir a warning that I’ll meet you again and then the novel just ends ...

In "Abdullah part 2" the author has brought in the main theme of "Parizaad" even the main character who is ugly and of dark complexion, no woman has ever loved him and all he wants is a look of love and affection from someone who could see the beauty of the person behind the ugly face. He comes to Abdullah to pray for him. The girl of his dreams is blind, a sculptor who has made his sculpture by feeling his face with her fingers, everything as in "Parizaad".
It will be injustice to the author if I do not mention that I thoroughly enjoyed his book "Bachpan Ka December". So much so that I purchased a few copies and given to them to my friends. This book is highly recommended to everyone. A simple story superbly narrated. I will give it 5 stars.

Hashim nadeem is one of the best abstractor in current era. He has depict factual definition of love in this book & portray islamic doctrine quiet handsomely.😋 It is a very simple and straightforward novel about Sufism that's lead us to Ishq-e-Haqiqi from Ishq-e-majazi. It leaves you with a lasting sense of love, the fragrance of emotions and the courage needed to travel on the ways you feel are right.🙏 This novel gives you answers about divinity. Author gave his best like he did in Khuda aur Muhabbat. 😊
All characters and events are well described, suspense of reader remains till end. I must appreciate Hashim Nadeem for his highest approach to deliver such a beautiful subject. 👌

If I would be reading this one in today's time, I wouldn't even be bothering to go for second part, but I read these books at a time when I had a lot of stamina, and strength to bear anything. I forgot to add these books on Goodreads for a long time, but decided to do now, as I'm hell free. So, this is a story, which apparently unfolds the secrets of a different and parallel world. Sahir is the lead character of the Novel and he is the one who got the right path means "Ishq-e-Haqiqi" through "Ishq-e-Majazi" that he found in the face of Zohra, the other lead female character. Yawns-inducing stuff.
