Excellent and Insightful exposition on Messianic Prophecy

There were times while reading this book that I felt I had read the information in several Bible commentaries, handbooks, and other CPH texts as well as some similar texts by other Publishers; however each ,chapter contained information new and helpful and in a few instances I was blown away by how well this book connected the dots within Old Testament books or within all of scripture! To wit, the axiom I heard by many professors so many years ago that the Gospel (alternately: the Messiah) is the "golden thread sown through all of scripture" which I noted at many times, especially in the Old Testament our perspective was like the disjointed threads on the backside of a tapestry for which only in heaven will we see the front picture,complete in its beauty ...and further thought that the golden thread seemed "pretty thin" at times to me, this text clarifies several threads and shows the connections in such a way that the beauty of Scripture’s description of the Messiah and His redeeming grace is seen much more profoundly and beautifully!! The golden thread is broader than I knew! This is a very helpful book not only for pastors and church professionals but is also absolutely accessible for laymen and teens! Highly recommended!!

Enlightening

Fascinating insight of how the Messiah is present from Genesis and throughout the Old testament, and how the New testament gives reference to these scriptures. It shows such a completeness of the Bible. Jesus is the Alpha and Omega.

This book helps us all find the promised Messiah in reading the Old Testament.

We used this book in a book group as a supplement to reading the Gospel of Matthew. For me, this book helped me to slow down and find Jesus in the Bible. Both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.

I’ve noticed for a long time that God does not hate us. In fact He loves us and promises to provide for us, protect us, and to forgive us all of our sins and iniquities. Use this book as a supplement to reading the Bible with more thoughtful intentions.

Lessing and Steinmann walk you through the old testament highlighting where we can find the Messiah therein. While the content is not new, the presentation is and it brings a new joy and life to the old testament. A great resource that will be staying on my shelf.

A useful tool for studying the Old Testament and seeing Jesus on every page. There were a handful of times where the authors' interpretation or attempt to make a Messianic connection made me scratch my head, but nevertheless, the helpful insights far outweigh those that were not.
