She’s about to fake-date the bad boy of Manhattan.
Seraphina Moretti is half-in-love with her best friend’s brother. An arranged marriage is in her future and the groom is not the object of her affection. But then the devil of Wall Street whispers in her ear. Telling her to follow her heart, that the unrequited love she’s feeling is reciprocated. She just needs to use a ploy as old as time. Jealousy.
Matteo De Lucci will use subterfuge to get what he wants. And what he wants is to prevent a union between two families that would make a powerful organization unstoppable. The key was through Sera’s affection for his business partner. And fake-dating Sera is the path to his endgame.
When the enemy makes a bold move, the lines between what is real and what is fake start to blur. Sera begins to crave the man she shouldn’t be falling for. And Matteo starts to get possessive over a woman who has feelings for another. When all their families weigh in, marriage between them might be inevitable. But would it be fake or real?
Victoria Paige writes smart, edgy, seductive romance.
Her heroes are badass alpha males and her smart, strong-willed heroines can hold their own against a bossy hero. Her books are sexually explicit and may contain dark themes, morally ambiguous choices, and disturbing situations as she injects realism into her stories and gives them her own twist.
Victoria lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and playful German Shepherd Dog, Loki.
I didn’t like Matteo and Daniel’s scheme towards Sera. Daniel frustrated me, he was so immature and indecisive. Moreover, I didn’t like how Matteo handled his relationship with Sera.
Also, there were so many characters involved that gave my reading a very hard time.
"She was nothing to me. Or she was supposed to be nothing."
Seraphina Moretti has an arranged marriage in her future. It's something she knows and something she can't do anything about. She has a duty to her family and nothing can change that.
"An arranged marriage loomed in my immediate future, tightening the noose on my carefree days."
So what's a little crush? Nothing harmless right? Even though her best friend's brother doesn't see her like that. But Matteo De Lucci, also known as "the bad boy of Manhattan" has a plan that helps them both…
Matteo De Lucci. Known all over New York. He will do anything to make sure Sera doesn't go through with the arranged marriage she has planned for her. He cannot let two families combine to make an unstoppable power. He will do everything and anything to make sure that does not happen. At least that's what he's planning…
"If you want a date from me, Mr. De Lucci, that would take more than a car ride. Do better next time. I'm not easy."
"Now is that any attitude to take toward your future boyfriend?"
I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
People. People. Listen up! I have found a new genre that I enjoy and this book is first in line no joke!!
Morally grey romance. I love it!
First we have Sera Moretti who literally has my humor and I love that! She is sassy, she doesn't take shit from anyone, she is a Mafia Princess who doesn't act like a mafia princess but I mean come on knows she is a mafia princess and it is everything!! As you can see I am obsessed.
And then we have Matteo De Lucci…
"It takes more than distance to discourage me."
Now when I tell you this man quickly became one of my book boyfriends. THIS. MAN. QUICKLY. BECAME. ONE. OF. MY. BOOK. BOYFRIENDS!! No joke, he is possessive, he is cheeky, he is slaying his role and I am living for it!!
Trust me when I tell you this book shocked me with so many things and I loved every single one!! Him and Sera, every scene, every page I was obsessed. Oh and by the way, as a sneak peak, this is one of my favorite things ever:
"They said that De Lucci men get very obsessed and singularly focused over a woman and there's no escape."
And just because I have to: 😏😏
"If I let myself go further, we'll never get to dinner. As much as I wished you were in a skirt, you made the right call wearing pants. Otherwise, you'd be on your back with your feet hitting the roof and my face buried between your thighs."
"All I want to hear is - Oh, God, yes, and Matteo. Any other word and I stop. Clear? Good girl."

I did not love this and tbh at times I was bored and annoyed with the characters. Mainly with Sera, she seemed way younger than her age (she is 26) and at times I felt like she was maybe 18? I can't describe why I felt this way, but I think it was a combination of her behavior during specific moments.
Matteo was not what I expected? I wanted another Cesar (his father) and we got a watered down version of him.
The whole plot about getting with Sera because Daniel (his friend and Sera's crush) asks him to do it didn't at all play out the way I hoped and when Sera finds out it's mixed in with ANOTHER secret so this whole ''fake dating plan'' was kind of swept under the rug and never really fixated on.
Daniel also pissed me off with how he gave Sera hope for a minute then decided against it and at the end we still do not know if he ever truly cared for her? It was just a mess.
I also think there was too many plots going around this story and it got too complicated at times to keep track of WHO and WHAT is happening, and I have read ''De Lucci's Obsession'' so I had a good idea on who the characters were, but I was still confused sometimes with what.
I think the whole let’s divorce aspect so you can move past the lies was stupid? It really didn't need to happen, and it just gave more drama added on for the sub-plots. He groveled to get her back, but that idea was dumb.
I've kept talking about what I did not like and despite all that I enjoyed the moments where they were TOGETHER and HAPPY. Matteo really was jealous and adorable in his own way, and it was fun seeing him hate Daniel's name ever come out of her mouth.
Also liked Nico/Rez a lot and I hope we get Rez's story with his wife Liz and not just a mention of it in this book. Their story seems to be really interesting, and I would love to read it.
Also loving the hints about Bianca and Sandro? I know they are getting a book after Nico and Ivy who also seem interesting.
I wish we had gotten more information on Matteo's mom’s side of the family who we barely know what’s going with them? I felt like it was a missed opportunity as they were so prominent in the parents’ book.
Another thing I will say if idk how to feel about Luca and his book is next. I didn't like him and from what I have read he does not get any better in his own story so who knows when or if I read it!
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: fake dating Angst: 😱😱😱1/2 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Such a fabulous and entertaining read! Seraphina Moretti is resigned to the fact that eventually, she will do her familial duty, but until then, she plans on having fun. And she'd prefer to do that "fun" with her best friend's brother, Danny if she can get his attention. Sera agrees to "fake date" Matteo de Lucci in a last attempt to get Danny to notice her and Matteo lets her know she'll be doing him a favor as well by distracting his friend. What neither of them plan on is the De Lucci curse. The same one that seems to eventually hit all the De Lucci men where they fall hard, fast, obsessively, and kind of obnoxiously, lol. Now Matteo just needs to convince Sera and hope she doesn't find out he wasn't completely truthful about his motives...
Scorned Heir is well written with witty dialogue that will having you laughing out loud. The chemistry between them was super hot and the smexy times, 🔥🔥🔥. The character development was fabulous, for both the MCs as well as the side characters, leaving you wanting more stories from them. For reference, Matteo is the son of Ava and Cesar De Lucci from De Lucci's Obsession. You definitely don't need to read it first, but it did make me enjoy the story that much more since we got tot see both the parents and Matteo's other siblings. If smart and independent heroines paired with completely obsessed guys are your jam, Scorned Heir will definitely tick all your boxes!
❤️ this might be spoilerish so read with caution ❤️
Matteo and Sera were….something else 😂 Matteo is the son of Cesar and Ava from De Lucci’s Obsession and there were times in the beginning where i was confused by all the names mentioned since i haven’t read their book, but i figured it out as the story went on.
it starts with Sera having a huge crush on her best friend’s older brother Daniel and Matteo offering to fake date her to make him jealous. But Matteo is struck by the De Lucci curse aka falling in love once and HARD. this man was just…..EVERYTHING. the sunrise hike🥹 the lobster truck🥰
yesssss there was a betrayal but i honestly didn’t think it was that bad 😂 he was so torn up about Sera being pissed at him that i would have folded on day one just by looking at those sad sad blue eyes. good for Sera for holding out as long as she did 😂😂😂
i love that Sera’s aunt married Matteo’s uncle so they are technically cousins and they had to double and triple check they weren’t blood related (they aren’t) 😂😂😂 it made me laugh
No virgins, no ow drama, check tw warnings (not on page but mentions of past abuse to a pregnant woman that resulted in miscarriage, on page violence, shoot out/death by car)
TONS of delicious om drama in the form of Matteo being jealous of anything having to do with Daniel. 😏😏😏
they raw dogg it the first time but he’s never gone bare and his last partner was over six months and he got tested after that. i didn’t get the vibe that he was hoe.
she’s on birth control, didn’t date much because her uncle is controlling but nothing outside of losing her virginity in college was mentioned.
Daniel was a little bitch and i’m SO disappointed in him. he played her feelings because he knew she had a crush and he would string her along by flirting(nothing physical) and then date models 🙄🙄🙄🙄 i wanted to punch him
CAN WE PLEASE GET IVY AND NICO ughhh he calls her Poison Ivy and i need their book like yesterday.
Luca is next and i could write an essay on how much i love that man. he better not disappoint me 😂😂😂
DNF @ 11% - too many similar characters introduced at once - ir was hard to keep track of what was going on. Too info dumpy - too much telling instead of showing. I had to call it quits when out of the blue the hero starts simping over the h, reminiscing about how much he loves their banter… first of all, I thought this was a mafia book. How about a little chill? We’re only on page 40!! Secondly, find me one man who would be mooning over the “banter” he shares with a woman after 1 short conversation. 🙄😵💫 all these people act like teenagers, but are actually nearly 30 or older. The mafia men sound like frat boys planning a prank.
This just isn’t for me.

When I say I'M OBSESSED with this book and universe Victoria has created, I mean I'm borderline mental. And not just the Romance ( we will get to that in a sec). The family dynamic, between the first generation and their offsprings is just genius and I can see myself " Obsessively" stalking all the previous books' characters ( already on it). 😈
Now, 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓸 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓪, can someone fall in love with the way a character fell hard? Because that's what happened in my case, the way 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓸 fell HARD AND FAST, steadily and surely was epically romantic. He was not immune to 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶'𝘀 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 I love how the transition from fake dating to "officially" together was smooth and all he has to say was “ 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝓷𝓮 ” *cue in drooling 🫠🫠*. And then there was more, more of them and more to them.
But he's not to blame , 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓪's personality was enticing , she was the ultimate Mafia princess, but there was so much more to her than just family power and privilege.
She was caring, smart and successful and 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓸 ate that up 🤭🤭 we can't blame our boy, his falling was a forgone conclusion 😏😏😏. No matter how resistant 𝓢𝓮𝓻𝓪 was in the beginning. 𝓜𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓸 was just tenacious, and we love that in our men.

I can't recommend this book enough, I'm so thankful for the chance to read it and I can't wait to read more by this author. Because her style is captivating and a page turner ❤️
Sera the Moretti mafia princess has a crush on her friend's brother Daniel and his friend Matteo DeLucci offers to help make him jealous by fake dating her. Soon she realizes she doesn't really want Daniel but she also doesn't want to be married off to Santino who is the man she was promised to by her uncle Luca. Her and Matteo go off to Maine to get away from Santino and soon they are falling for one another for real and their chemistry is off the charts. After they decide to elope though Sera discovers the underhanded reasons Matteo had for wanting to fake date her and she starts to question what was real between them. I really liked Matteo and Sera together and I immediately disliked Daniel for her and was happy that it didn't take long to realize her crush wasn't as big as she thought it was. Matteo was possessive and jealous at times but it was obvious that despite his reasons for starting the relationship he did love and adore Sera. I loved that she didn't make it easy and he had to grovel a lot for her forgiveness. I can't wait to read about Luca since he was a bit of a mystery.

DNF'ed at 46 pages in. Just had nothing to really grab my attention. It's ok for a story to be somewhat "basic" but the characters at least need to be compelling. This so far is just a bunch of rambling rolling into more rambling.
Matteo and Sera might have begun under false pretenses, but one of them is all in and won’t give up, even when the truth comes out. And trust me, you don’t want that person admitting defeat.
If you’ve read about Matteo’s parents, then you already know about a bit of an obsession when the men fall in love. And if you haven’t, that’s okay. You’ll learn with Matteo just how real love is and just how much it’ll urge him to do anything possible to keep Sera.
Thanks to Sera and Matteo, I hope we spend more time with his siblings, her uncle, other friends…everyone, really. Because there’s danger. And heat. And love. And familial torment of the best variety. But above all, there’s loyalty and determination to do the right thing for family, no matter what. I mean, there’s a ton of emotions floating around and a love unlike just about any other between Sera and Matteo also, but the way this is all masterfully spun into what could become a fabulous famiglia saga? Oh, yeah. I’m 100% here for anything else that comes our way!
The De Lucci’s curse might be real! Seraphine Moretti has always been half in love with her best friend brother Daniel. But in her neat future, there is an arranged marriage. She grew up in the mafia and knows that at some point her Zio Luca will want to have a say in who she will marry. She is a very feisty and bossy woman who has told her bio that he has no say in her love life. But her Godfather Gustavo Conte has plans for her to marry his son. Matteo de Lucia always gets what he wants and he is in charge of more things than his family Buissnes lets on. What he wants right now is to prevent two of the most powerful organizations from having a union ship with Sera marrying Gustavo’s son. The only solution is therefore having her as his fake girlfriend. Sera was no fool to know that having a fake relationship with the devil of Wall Street was very risky but she wanted Daniel to finally make a move. What the two of them do not know yet, is that the times are changing for the both of them. Does this mean that feelings might be changing as well? This book is such a great combination of attention from the mafia and the struggle of falling in love with your fake boyfriend. Yes, I stayed up way too late to read this book because the story had me wrapped around its fingers. Sera is such a great personality and the De Pucci family needed another strong woman who could tell the men off. Matteo De Lucci seems to be a very stubborn man at first but over the course of the weeks with Seraphine, his view point on love and the De Pucci curse is changing. The two of them definitely move very fast but there is so much going on with all the mafia families that I feel like the pace was perfect. I love the small details that were spent attention on. I have to say the two of them might be one of my favorite couples this month!
Meh about sums up this book for me. It had some good parts but mostly it was meh. The pacing was slow in some parts, the whole fake dating scheme never made any practical sense in regard to her friend’s brother - he was in on it. I tried o rationalize it out throughout the book by it felt so contrived.
That’s a good word, contrived. The whole grovel at the end also felt contrived. I live for a good grovel, seriously. I’ve read terrible books for a grovel. This just felt so forced. She was mad because of stupid shit. Her outrage felt forced and then he *let* her freeze him out. If the grovel had felt necessary maybe I’d have cheered her on but since it felt so unnecessary and forced it was tedious and irritating.
I think this story had good bones but the execution was mucked up. I can’t recommend it personally but it I’m sure there are readers who will like this way more than I did.
I’d consider this a safe read. Medium burn. No cheating. Some mild OM drama. No scenes with others. No physical separation but she does make him grovel for a few weeks at the end.

❤️scorned heir - matteo and sera •fake dating •marriage of convenience ‘she was nothing to me. or she was supposed to be nothing.’
i liked that the plot differed from other mafia books, whilst it’s still underworld and crime based, it focuses on family and their relationship. sera is fierce and will let people know exactly what she’s thinking, she’s strong and won’t cower to anyone. matteo is very possessive and takes what he wants, including sera, despite their relationship being ‘fake’. the instant connection between them was intense and i enjoyed their story and how they slowly grew to trust each other.
This book was mafia but hear me out... This would have been a masterpiece if the mafia aspect of it were dropped.
The banter was there, the fun was there, the fake dating part of it was cute, the 'practise kissing' was there. This book could've been a great rom-com but yea.
The mafia of this soiled the book. Great potential of a romcom cute sexy book though.
Scorned Heir is the first book in the Scorned Fate series, but it's the second book I've read and it's an entertaining mafia romance.
That sees mafia princess Seraphina (Sera) convinced she is half in love with her best friend Ivy's brother Daniel. So she makes a deal with Daniels friend bad boy Matteo to fake date her in order to make Daniel jealous and get him to finally take notice of her.
Only Sera quickly realises Daniel is not the man she really wants. But she also doesn't want the man mafia boss and her uncle Luca has promised her too.
So, she and Matteo disappear together and soon realise they really are falling for each other.
However, Matteo had his reasons for offering to help Sera in the first place and when Sera learns the truth she is left questioning if Matteo really does care for her or whether he was just manipulating her.
Which leads to plenty of grovelling.
And with secrets, danger, lies and suspense. Not to mention the perfect amount of spice and chemistry hot enough to melt your Kindle. Scorned Heir was an enjoyable read. But it did feel a little slower paced and character heavy compared to Scorned Vows which is why I didn't quite enjoy it as much.
My thanks to The Author Agency for my copy of Scorned Heir. ☺️
Omw, this was my first read by this author and I loved every second of it. I was hooked from start to finish.
Sera, is an independent and kickass heroine, who loves to do for people selflessly. She believes that in doing good, she will also sort of redeem her family because they are mafia. For the past few years she has been hopelessly in love with her best friend's brother, but everything changes when she starts a fake relationship with Matteo.
Matteo, he is calculating and everything he does has an outcome that benefits him and his family/company. But one thing he never expected was Sera, he has his reasons, selfish ones...but he starts falling and oh man does he fall and let's not forget possessive as hell.
Sera and Matteo's relationship isn't only fake, but it also starts on an omission (lie) and there in lies the problem, because Sera doesn't know what's fake and what's real and Matteo will do everything in his power to make sure she knows he loves her, even if it means breaking their hearts for a little while to put it back together. The chemistry was so hot and the steamy moments between them 🔥🥵
The grovel was so good, I absolutely loved that it wasn't a few sentences and back together, but it took them a while and it was done so well ♥️ even though I shed a tear or two in the process 😪.
One thing...only one thing I disliked was the way her uncle used her kindness against her, that just pissed me off!!!
𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬
The De Lucci family ♥️ can't wait for the next book in the series.
I absolutely loved Sera and Matteo’s story. I was so enraptured by Victoria Paige’s characters. I couldn’t get enough of these two. I loved how they started out, their middle and their end. This was an overall an amazing book. It did make me wish that there were other books that followed some of the other characters. If you are looking for a book with fight, obsession, heartache, and love this is a book I highly recommend.
2.5 ⭐️. Good mafia love story but I think I was getting lost among how many characters there were. I am going to continue reading the series to see if it gets less confusing.
I started reading this and for some reason stopped pretty early in. I’m an emotionally driven reader, sometimes things just don’t hit me right until I pick it up again later. That was the case here, because when I came back to it, I could not put it down. There’s a lot going on, a lot of family, and at times it was a little difficult to keep the extended families straight, but it definitely kept me pulled in and anxious to see how things played out.
Sera had a bit of a crush on her BFF’s brother Daniel, but he wasn’t reciprocating. His friend suggested they fake date and make Daniel jealous so he would finally make a move. Of course, there’s a lot more going on than she knows. I will admit that the crush aspect struck me as pretty high school age instead of 27 year olds. But it was what it was. I love that she is a smart and strong character (even despite the teenage crush). She grew up in the mafia life, and is not some weak naive princess. She’s a great character, managing to be both strong and smart, and compassionate and kind.
One thing I love is a good grovel. Do not give me some lame grand gesture. Those mean nothing. Anyone can pull off one-time production or event, but it doesn’t equate to changed behavior or remorse. But a good grovel? ::chefs kiss:: And Matteo definitely has to work to earn back her trust. He doesn’t have a man tantrum about it either. He screwed up, he had to own it. It was delicious. I only wish that Daniel had suffered a bit more for his part, but that’s just because I’m Petty Betty. Overall, a great read, and I’m glad I came back for a second chance.
When the book first started I really thought it was going to be best friends brother romance. Boy was i wrong and I am so glad I was. Matteo is cocky, assertive, and possessive the last person I pictured Sera to want. Sera is bossy, independent, and aware of what goes on behind closed doors. More so than the men in the mafia expect. There is chaos, there is heartbreak, there is love, and an emotional rollercoaster. It’s all so worth it!! I really enjoyed this book, I couldn’t put it down.
Omg, I couldn't put it down. I love Matteo and Sera's story so much; this is my first book by Victoria, and I’m obsessed. I love her writing. Everything in this book is good; the plot and the sexy scenes were amazing. I recommend it 100%
The h was an annoying bitch for no fucking reason. Matteo should have kicked her ass out of the car that first night and left Daniel deal with her shit. Ugh. Such potential, too. DNFed at 20%.

This is the first book by this author that I have read and I can honestly say I have been missing out! I loved this story so much. The whole concept of the Moretti Crime Family and other crime families in the underworld all being overseen by an organisation is wickedly good… and sensible to boot!
This is the story about Seraphina Moretti and Matteo De Lucci, these two lead characters are both strong and independent. I liked both of them immediately and although, yep, you guessed it… Matteo stuffs up 🤣, I still liked him. Both are very intelligent and I adore Sera’s sassiness and her sneaky personality where she gets lots out of Matteo without him realising until too late. She is one very clever lady. However, both are as stubborn as each other. They have terrific chemistry and the steamy scenes definitely heat things up, but in truth there is good balance in the story where the intimacy doesn’t overtake the storyline.
Great detailed descriptions of the settings and characters enable readers to easily visualise each scene. There is a full range of emotions you feel for and with the characters. Even though I haven’t read any other book about the other characters prior to this, I don’t think I had any disadvantages because of the way this story was cleverly written, it is a standalone for sure. I will say I am going to go back, when I can, and read those stories though. I also look forward to reading the next story, Scorned Vows, and all of the stories about these fabulous characters.

This was probably the most real mafia book I’ve read. I felt like I was reading the Godfather. Matteo and Seraphina have that great chemistry and passion for each other that I love to read.
This book is about Sera (Seraphina), a mafia princess who is in love with her best friends brother (Daniel.) However, she ends up having to fake date Matteo, the bad boy of Manhattan and also from a crime family. Many secrets, lies and danger ensues. This was a really long book but it was written so well. My only thing was the first 25% was confusing to me with all the names, characters, families/mafia that I had to take notes to be able to go back and remember. And like I said above, it really was reminiscent of a true gangster/mob life. Some parts really felt like a mob movie where a male character would be narrating. I like how Sera was a strong female but understand her duties and didn’t fight against like in other mafia books. She understood what was expected but also wasn’t a pushover/bystander in her own life.
Tropes: fake dating, morally gray, arranged marriage, mafia, enemies to lovers, billionaire, marriage of convenience, forced proximity
A morally grey mafia romance as Seraphina Moretti suddenly finds herself with an abundance of men all interested in her. Front runner is Matteo De Lucci, but he has ulterior motives, not all of which he reveals to Sera as he proposes a fake dating scenario which will hopefully bring the true object of Sera’s desires to heel but there are so many reasons why his plan is such a bad idea not only because of the family ties between them but he’s also forgotten all about the De Lucci family curse!
Sera wasn’t the typical mafia princess; she might’ve been ready to do her duty by her family and enter into an arranged marriage but in the meantime, she would have fun until she was married off. Matteo ran the legitimate side of his family’s business but wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty when necessary and I loved the relationship between this pair. There was some fabulous banter with Sera giving as good as she got much to Matteo’s surprise and their chemistry sizzled leading to some steamy times between them. With an action filled plot involving threats from rival mafia families and a large cast of fantastic secondary characters I can’t wait to read more from this series
