Confessions Of A Lingerie Addict

Rate this book
When Brenda Scott, a shy DJ at an unpopular San Diego radio station, gets dumped by her rich, controlling boyfriend, Larry, she comforts herself by downing martinis at a New Year's party. The next morning, she's shocked to find a stranger in her bed, but Nick, the man in question, dashes away before she can find out what occurred. Finally liberated from Larry, Brenda decides to trade in her full-coverage underwear for some scanty panties and a bold new personality. When she bumps into Nick again, she lands a second date with him. Later, she turns on the radio and learns that Nick is the new DJ at a rival station, where he sends out a song asking Brenda to call him back. She does return the call, over the air, starting a public flirtation that grabs all of San Diego's attention. Though her character is occasionally amusing, Brenda's transformation from a nervous girl into a sexy free spirit is predictable, as is the ensuing trouble that develops. The DJ rivalry adds some intensity to the romance, but it never really takes off.

Boring. The main character kept comparing the ex and the new guy, up until the end, and it got repetitive. Also, the ex was so silly and mean, it was ridiculous.

Perfect vacation/beach type of read. Predictable, but exactly what I needed while reading Caste. A few errors along the way, but I would consider reading another book by this author. Hallmark ending as expected.

Humorous (except during anger scenes), raucous, easy to read tale of two radio DJs from rival stations falling in love.

Loved that this story glad it wasn't another millionaire wanting a sub plot. Brenda is a relatable character and so is Nick. Great read and recommended.

Read in Japanese, ラブソングをあなたに. Brenda, radio DJ 28ish? and Nick, radio DJ 35ish? in San Diego, CA. Brenda broke up with her boyfriend, Larry on New Year's Eve. She had too many martinis and woke up in her bed with a stranger, both naked. The stranger left quickly and Brenda did not even know his name. 2 months later she stepped in front of a car Nick was driving, and they went out. The place they went to was Brenda's mother's boat. As Nick and Brenda started going at each other, Brenda's older brother (David) who is in the middle of divorce showed up and broke up the scene.

Nick asked Brenda to call him, but neither of them had phone numbers. Soon Brenda found out that Nick was a new radio DJ at a competing station from hers and was asking Brenda to call into his station. Brenda replied on her radio station asking her audience what to do. The ratings of the radio station shot up for this topic.

Brenda finally called Nick while on air, and made a plan to meet over late lunch at a restaurant where she was almost ran over by Nick. Brenda was scheduled to meet her mother before meeting Nick, and when she went to her house Jerry, David's friend who hooked up with Brenda's mother answered the door. Jerry wanted her to know that he was seriously in love with her mother, but Brenda has difficulty dealing with their age gap. She got upset and left, and went to the beach. She lost track of time and was late for the lunch date. The radio crews have already left by the time she got there with a Hippy friend, John whom she just met that day.

Nick suggested another private date. They sleep together. Brenda is trying to be new her, who is confident and sexy. She lacks in self esteem and she often imagines Nick would be disappointed with her, or eventually will dump her. It is very annoying how she thinks.

A lot happens, including Brenda's mother hooking up with David's friend, David hooking up with Clarissa(Brenda's misterious roommate, a private detective following David, ...
Nick asking Brenda to move in, and Brenda froze. They still dated, and later Nick asked her to go to Las Vegas to get married, and Brenda said no. Larry still butts in often. Brenda realized that she really loved Nick and wanted him, so she tries to win him over. It works at the end.

A few funny moments, but Brenda's low self esteem and her thinking is frustrating. The book seemed too long unnecessarily.
Jennifer Ashley is famous for her historicals, but this one was contemporary. Just ok.

Really 3.75stars cute but.....its cotton candy
Brenda thinks of herself as a frump until she gets dumped by Mr. Perfect, then her life begins...She gets drunk on martini's, sleeps with a man she doesn't know and discovers the wonders of silken, satiny, sexy lingerie.

The wicked decadence she feels when wearing her naughty lingerie boosts her confidence and self esteem and turns her into the sexy, flirty, desirable Brenda she didn't know she could be. Brenda's musings are cute and can bring a smile to your face while reading, but isn't a character that really stays with you. Her on-air flirtation with Nick, a DJ at a rival station is cute, and the way she eventually deals with Mr. Perfect's imperfections shows you how far the character has come from page one. But it was a little irritating that she continued the comparisons. Despite the ease of being with Brenda I couldn't help feeling that she was immature and shallow with some of her actions/reactions when conflicts arose. The story is plotted well with a clear direction and the writing flows nicely. Also the secondary characters are just fine - they are distinctive enough to tell who's doing what when but they are lightweight. I have to mention, her brother was a bit of a prick. This romp is clearly the domain of the leads, their very cute and very public relationship and Brenda's banter leave no room for doubt.

This is a great read for the beach or a rainy afternoon when you just have to have a book.

I really like this author's shifter series, so I wanted to check out some of her other books, but am not a fan of historicals which she writes. This one looked to be one that would work for me, so I went into it with no clue. Now that I am done with the book I am very glad to have picked it up, I laughed so much when reading it.

Brenda is a hot mess, we meet her right after she was dumped, on New Year's Eve, by her boyfriend. She then proceeds to drink herself silly at the party her roommate throws and wakes up naked in bed with a gorgeous man the next day. Once over her mortification, she uses this event to change herself into the sexy person she thinks would sleep with someone. The changes that takes place are some that she needed to make.

As much as Brenda moves forward, she stumbles too, notably with her mother and brother. Things happen with her family that are crazy. There are times when you sympathize with Brenda and what she is going through, at others you want to yell at her to grow up and get over it.

The romance with Nick was so much fun. I loved that a lot of their romance happened on the radio. Both of them had issues from the past that made them act different and sometimes not get what the other was trying to say.

The end to this one was just perfect, it seems like everyone got their HEA.

I liked this book, I needed to see what happened next so I kept reading and too me thats a good indication of a good book. However whatever Brenda had going on inside her, struggling with severe self esteeme issues pissed me off. She didnt deserve Nick, she was weird and strange by the end and her physical description made her sound like Orphan Annie on a bad hair day. Mad and ugly - not a good combo! The lingerie didnt help make her any cuter in my eyes and she obviously didnt think so either. As for the Pardio DJ job it only further inforces the fact that she is only ugly broard! She needs counseling. I realise that we need realistic charqachters in books but Brenda just rubbed me the wrong way.
However as I said I did enjoy the book and did think it was worth reading.

This book is pure fun. It is an adult romance that moves right along. Brenda wakes up after New Year's Eve with a man in her bed, and no memory of how he got there, or even any memory of him from the night before. Her 'Mr. Perfect' boyfriend has just dumped her, her radio career seems to be going nowhere, her divorcing and broke brother is camping in her apartment, her roommate sleeps all the time and does nothing, her widowed mother has taken up with a man years younger, and to top it off, she discovers that the gorgeous hunk from her bed is no less than the popular DJ at a rival radio station. That's just the beginning. A fast, fun read.

I completely enjoyed reading CONFESSIONS OF A LINGERIE ADDICT. Perfect for some light summer reading -- I'd find that I was smiling during reading this and sometimes laugh a bit. Lots of fun here and it makes for a very quick read. Yes, there are some minor plot flaws and some minor unanswered questions, but who cares? I wasn't looking for edifying reading material, just something to put a smile on my face.

On the whole I enjoyed this one very much. It seemed a bit dragged out at times, and the commitment phobia of the heroine is a bit over the top, but nonetheless a good read.
