A professional photographer, writer and fan of general weirdness (both real and imagined), Tony has traveled tens of thousands of miles seeking out everything from haunted locations, UFO crash sites and monsters like Bigfoot and the Mothman. In a previous life, he worked in the independent movie industry but he finds his current career much more exciting.

Tony's first writing memory involves penning a short story about taking a road trip with his best friend and his dog (two different creatures) to watch KoKo B Ware in a professional wrestling event in Pittsburgh. He wrote that epic saga while in the 3rd grade and it was all downhill from there. His first books were a series of o)eat travelogues but recently his zombie apocalypse series, "Life of the Dead" has been a bestseller online and grossed out readers all over the world. His ultimate goal in life is to be killed by a monster thought by most to be imaginary. Sasquatch, werewolves, chupacabras, he’s not picky. If that fails, he’d enjoy making a living as a full time writer. Which of those two scenarios is more likely is up to the readers to decide.

I really do enjoy scary stories of the unexplained. My favorite are the ones that involve some kind of cryptid. Anything Sasquatch related and I'm there for it. This book did not disappoint. Included were 26 stories from folks who have said that they saw or experienced something in the woods that others would claim were not possible. I have to admit, a few of the stories sounded like they had a bit too much to drink and mistook a normal forest creature for a cryptid. I can see how that would happen. Some stories were from people who have spent a large amount of their life out in the woods such as hunters and park rangers who are not easily excitable. Do I believe in cryptids, aliens, and weird hill people? I think it's possible.

This one will be staying in my personal library. I keep my paranormal, cryptozoology, haunting books, they are my favorite! Yes I love horror, but the real like unknowns are even more fun!

Tony collects real life encounter stories from the actual people who lived through them. Some of the people share their names, others wish to remain anonymous. He also includes the date of the interview, along with the approximate time of the incident as several are many years in the past. He also includes a follow up short question and answer at the end of the individual encounters. The books are short, making a great palette cleanser between bigger books. I will keep reading them, I may not believe all the stories, but it does make one curious about the unknown and what we haven't found.

A great collection of encounter stories. The author presents them with names, dates and places and features excerpts of interviews at the end. There are cryptids, ghosts, UFOsm shadow people and more. I hope he will do a follow up book.
As for the other reviewer who doesn't think that other encounter books are real, people don't always want their names, dates and locations shared for fear of ridicule, or if they are in certain jobs, it can get them fired.

Pretty cool book, with a bunch of short stories that are differing accounts of weird stuff going on in the woods. Mostly Bigfoot sighting, and some other oddities.
The one thing that all the Bigfoot stories lacked was proof!!!! That’s my issue with most things Bigfoot related… I want to believe that there is something like that out there, but I also want some PROOF!!!!
That being said, I’m going to read part 2!

I enjoyed reading a story a day in this. I used it as a nice little pallet cleanser between all the fiction books I was reading. I’m not going to rate stories of what supposedly happened to people. That doesn’t seem right to me, but I will pick up book two whenever I need another little book to read in-between my monthly TBR books.

I enjoyed this book

As a huge fan of the unexplained I found Beware of the Woods very entertaining! I recommend it to anyone who has ever wondered “what if?” Or like myself have had the unexplained happen to them.

Great Compilation

This is a set of great eyewitness stories about interesting encounters in the woods. They make me think twice and at the same time, feed my curiosity to get out there.

Boring.

Just Tony interviewing people who claim to have seen legendary creatures, like Bigfoot. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Some of the stories get repetitive, and they're short. I wish it wouldn't have leaned so much into Bigfoot.

Beware of the Woods by Tony Urban

I liked this book because I am facinated with the idea there is a species of Bigfoots in the United States. I'm Good with just reading about them .
