Accidental Texting: Finding Love Despite the Spotlight

Rate this book
Morgan Edwards has been through a lot: being left at the altar by a man trying to use her, losing her mother to Cancer, and now she's trying to keep her mom's dream alive by running the Victorian inn they spent years restoring together. Her world is such a mess that she has no time for distractions. But when it feels like things are hopeless, an accidental text message manages to pull her out of this pit of despair and infuse a little excitement into her life.

Sean Wilder has it all: fame, fortune, and a very long list of ladies who've shared his bed. But what he finds in the girl he accidentally texts is entirely unexpected. Too accustomed to a world where everyone has an ulterior motive, he's taken aback by Morgan's honesty, her sincerity, and her struggle to do everything on her own despite the incredibly tough spot she's in.

While similar life experiences draw them to one another, can they fit together when Morgan finds out Sean's true identity? And can she find a way to fit next to him in the spotlight?

***SPOILERS***

Although I loved the way that the two characters met, I literally created this account because I had to rant about these kind of books. The main character, Morgan, starts out seeming like a strong independent woman, but it turns out she is just like every other romance novel heroine, that is, whiny and weak.

Although the book is fine until she goes to L.A., she then does what every other heroine does: forgive the guy who cheats on her, who also happened to cheat on his ex-girlfriend. I cannot wait for someone to write a romance with a strong female lead and a faithful man. It is so annoying that although this man has a history of infidelity, the female lead somehow forgives his betrayals, again, and again, because she trusts him (hopefully only until a couple months after the end of the novel when she gets tired of his cheating and finally ditches his lying ass for the friend).

She actually meets him as he accidentally texts her, trying to text his girlfriend to apologize for his infidelity. As this is apparently not enough of a warning sign, he has to seriously invade her privacy before she dumps him, before automatically forgiving him, as he is famous and rich. Then when he cheats on her (not really surprising though, is it?) she forgives him as soon as he throws a little money her way (aka buys a house, so she immediately moves in with him).

Firstly, have none of these woman heard of 'once a cheater always a cheater?' Just because he marries her doesn't mean he'll suddenly grow faithful! Though he does talk pretty. Second, she needs to grow a spine and do more than cry all the time. I actually preferred the peripheral love story with their friends, the guy was loyal and the girl adorable.

Also, she needs new friends who don't encourage her to forgive men who don't treat her well, I was actually pretty shocked that they all encourage her to forgive the cheating asshole (cause he has money I guess? maybe he didn't make her sign a prenup?)

Honestly, I loved the beginning of the book/their relationship, but I had a really hard time finishing it and was disgusted and furious, so I could barely finish it. Worse than just being a bad read, this book encourages women into believing that being treated this way is normal and all that they should expect or deserve.

To resume, good premise, the idea of their meeting anonymously is interesting, but could we please get a woman who isn't a doormat and a man who isn't an asshat?

This started out with an interesting premise and had potential to be a much better story. This is a case where less is more and, unfortunately, too much was added. Morgan became an unlikeable, flat character who was very different than the way she was portrayed in the beginning. The ending was overwhelmed by so much description of excess that it read more like a tween's fantasy wedding than a happy ending to this story.

I tried to make it my goal this year to go back through my Kindle and read old e-books that I have had sitting there for years, and Accidental Texting was one of them. You can tell it's an older story too by its cover as even the self-published books have awesome covers. Of course judging by the cover and tagline, you can guess what this book is about. What happens when Morgan who has been recently left at the altar by an abusive fiance who in everyone else's eyes was an angel gets a random text telling her it was a mistake and he wants her back. Morgan's best friend grabs the phone and starts messaging, and soon one thing leads to another and Morgan eventually admits that he texted the wrong number and she was pulling his leg. He doesn't believe her of course, but over the next course of the week, things will start to change. Thus beginning a texting relationship between Morgan and Sean. Morgan has no idea who Sean is, but she is falling head over heels for the mystery man. What will happen when Morgan discovers Sean's true identity? Will she be able to handle the spotlight that his identity brings or will she retreat back into the darkness and into her own shell ? Can Sean prove to Morgan that he loves her and would do anything for her, even give up his career and status ? Accidental Texting was quite a long e-book but definitely worth the read, especially if you are like me and love the idea of an accidental texting romance brewing between the pages as more often than not some accidental texting can turn into something - that's how I ended up with a date to my school ball as the guy started accidentally texting and we struck up a friendship. If you are looking for an older romance ebook to read, then check out Accidental Texting by Kimberly Montague today.

I will start by saying that I sometimes make the mistake of underestimating books that are priced at the low end of the range (e.g., $2.99, like this one). I picked this out of the Amazon line up of recommendations, thinking it would be a laugh and probably not a great story but WTH, right? Boy, was I wrong on this one. This story of Sean and Morgan is a bit like that of The Mighty Storm or even Fifty Shades of Gray, sans kinky you-know-what. There's drama, lots of drama. Although the characters are well beyond high school, they sometimes behave as if they are still playing at HS shenanigans, such as my friends told your friends told my friends that ... you get the picture. Aside from this, or maybe because of this, it's a great story.

Morgan (our heroine) is a strong, resilient woman. That's not to say she hasn't any weaknesses. I'm sure her mama would be proud of her for all she's achieved in spite of life's hard knocks. When she meets Sean (Hero), it takes them awhile to build to a strong friendship with plenty of sizzle. This slow build adds to the story and I found it very enjoyable. Sean doesn't live a normal life and Morgan has issues with his world and he does everything he can to make it easier for her to share it with him. Good woman that she is, Morgan sticks to her principles but also realizes that Sean's world is not all bad. Love at its best means that sometimes you are willing to do things just because those things mean so much to your beloved. Morgan and Sean both have this level of commitment.

***SPOILER***
Aside from the drama (and really, what is a romance without some dramatic tension?), my only complaint is that Ms. Montague also wrapped up two additional romances as part of the backdrop in this book. Cerise and Annalisa's stories could have made for another great book or two. I hope that Mel, Sean's sister, is able to find a story among Ms. Montague's fertile imaginings. And then there is flirty Anthony. And Alvin, who sounds like a hunk but just not Annalisa's, umm, puzzle piece. You'll understand what that means by the end of the book. :)
***END OF SPOILER***

As I mentioned, there's plenty of sizzle, although the sex scenes aren't terribly graphic. Ms. Montague writes well and the book was both well constructed and well edited. There were occasional typos in the Kindle version (e.g., for some reason, the word tilted is almost always spelled titled, as in, "Morgan titled her head"). There weren't enough to be terribly distracting, though.

I was sorry to see this book end - although its ending was more than satisfactory - and look forward to rereading this one or reading her other books. Kimberly Montague has a few others out, several are YA and some are paranormal romances. She only has one straight up contemporary - Racing Outside the Line. I can't wait to read that one in hopes that it's as good as Accidental Texting.

I picked this book awhile ago and really wanted to read it and then I changed my mind and wasn't that interested. But a couple of months down the line I picked it and started reading it and I am really glad about that.
Morgan Edwards is struggling after the death of her mother and her ex leaving her at the altar. Not only that but the Inn that they set up together is in trouble. Suddenly Morgan receives a text from someone apologizing that he slept with someone else. Morgan and one of her best friends pull his friend as if they are Michelle in the end Morgan gives in and says that he texted the wrong number. Out of this a friendship develops and more. Morgan in the meantime made a mistake by sleeping with Alvin who is a good friend but she really doesn't the same feelings for him that he has for her. Morgan and Sean start to get really close but Sean is keeping secrets and a lot of shit goes down of both sides from Sean's friends and that he is the spotlight so much. Morgan has some issues and especially what her ex did. Then again though Sean did fuck up and redeemed himself with everything that he then did for Morgan.
I got into this book so much that I was always saying in the middle of night just one more chapter, just one more, just one more.
This book made me laugh, cry, angry and warned my heart. I also loved the ending. What I didn't like is that the author over did it with the sweetie and love on Sean's part. I also would have liked to see the showdown between Morgan and Michelle. I find books with the characters being famous and falling in love with someone who lives a normal life. But this book was believable.

I really enjoyed reading Accidental Texting. This book was recommended to me by someone who knew I had enjoyed a similar novel, and let's say that I was very happy with this particular recommendation.

Accidental Texting presents the story of Morgan and Sean. Morgan is a strong young woman who has been through a lot. She is currently trying to make ends meet financially, emotionally, and physically when one accidental text message changes everything. That's when Sean comes in. With that accidental text message, a whole new relationship begins to blossom between these two. Morgan is completely honest and puts it all on the line, which is something that Sean cannot resist. This book follows as these two characters try to navigate what it means to fall in love, and risk it all for what they truly want.

This book is full of ups and downs that Morgan and Sean face on their journey, but it really was a book I could not put down. I was eager to see how it worked out for these two, and I was not disappointed one bit. The author does a nice job of making you feel exactly what the characters are feeling, which makes it easy to slip right into the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The characters are great, the story is well paced, and it's a love story. (So what's not to love?)

I had a tough time deciding how to rate this book. I am a sucker for a good Hollywood love story and I really enjoyed the first half of the book a lot. This is an insta-love romance and there are quite a few typos which could get distracting, however neither of those things bothered me too much. The problem I had was with the heroine. She was so annoying. I understood her hesitance to jump head first into a relationship with an A list actor. I agreed with her reaction to Sean's big mistake. I didn't even have a problem with her skittishness after her awful past relationship. The problem I had was with her crying! Dear God, the girl cried over everything! And if she wasn't crying she was having panic attacks. By the end of the book I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room every time she was described as being so strong as she was crying, hyperventilating, running away, having nightmares, get the picture?

That being said, the writing wasn't bad and the dialogue quite funny at times. I also REALLY liked all the other characters. I just couldn't figure out why any of them would want to hang out with her.

I picked this up because I like the idea of meeting someone by accident. It was a good story and I enjoyed it. However, about halfway through, you get the typical misunderstanding then guy gets shitfaced and does something stupid and has to beg the girl back storyline that happens all too often in these kinds of stories. I will admit that I enjoyed the story much more before she found out who her secret celebrity was and they actually got together. Too much angst at that point. But, I really liked the end, and I loved the little side stories between her friends and his. All in all, worth the read.

This is one of my favorite books. I think part of it has to do with the plot- the receiving an accidental text message that wasn't meant for you, but leads to so much more. Add a movie star to the mix, and it hits a lot of my wishes.

This is the story of Morgan, an inn owner who is struggling in many aspects of her life. One day she received a text message that wasn't meant for her. She has some fun texting back, and it leads to so much more.

I loved this book. Kimberly Montague was one of the first indie authors that I read, and I keep coming back and rereading this about every year.

Perhaps just a little longer than it needed to be. Otherwise a good read.

I loved the way these two meet. It was a rather unique way to strike up a relationship. To enjoy this I guess it is necessary to suspend belief to a certain extent. But that is the beauty of celebrity romance stories. This was really very sweet and I would love to read more about other characters, especially Anthony. The author did a wonderful job developing the secondary characters which added to my enjoyment of this book.

So I was recommended this book since I enjoyed Love Unscripted and I'm glad that I read it. It started kind of slow but it was really cute. The drama in the book could have been really overboard but it wasn't, which is good since at some points in Love Unscripted I was just thinking "really?!?". Although it was similar to Love Unscripted this book holds it's own and I would recommend it to others as well. I'm glad it was recommended.

Oh this book, this book is just filled with WTF-ery.

AT:FLDS is about a super star actor (think... Ryan Gosling) accidentally texting a woman and they flirt, chat on the phone and fall in love over three weeks, without her really knowing who he is. Throw in some serious trust issues, paparazzi, an abusive ex-fiance and an entourage that makes your head spin. You cannot put the crazy down.

Ok, I so got this book because of the cover and because it's a he's famous/she's an everyday girl story. Its a really sweet fairy tale of book and I enjoyed reading it, although at times it was hard to see why Sean was so head over heels Morgan. Way too much of the book is about dealing with her issues - but in the end Sean and Morgan won me over. Sweet is good.

This a cute book. It's very long, but the characters are good and likeable. Morgan has some issues, but I really like Sean's character and his friends. I found some similarities to the Love Unscripted and the Love Unrehearsed books.

I love Kimberly Montague. I really enjoy her romance stories, so I was quite surprised when I didn't find myself overly loving this book.

This was a great premise for a book. A wrong number text ends with a surprising relationship. Where this book really fell apart for me was Morgan. She is supposed to be this strong, independent woman and to me she came across more as a stubborn whiny girl. She just didn't click with me and I think I struggled because of that. Add in Sean, who for the most part I really liked, and I just couldn't enjoy the relationship.

Most of this drama between the two main characters was a failure to communicate. I struggle with these types of romances to begin with. The games, the secrets, the judging a situation without clarification, it is all just more than I can stand. What gets me is if the two characters would just talk, most of the drama could be dealt with a little easier, which leads me to the last point.

This book was looooooooooooooooooooooooooong. I kept looking at my kindle % finished, and it just seemed like I never was getting very far. I think that some of the drama and crazy could be cut from this book and still make it a very good book, just shorter and a little more to the point.

All of that said to say, I didn't hate this book and I did look forward to getting back into the story. There were some funny parts, and some sweet parts, and some parts that made you just stop and get that warm heart feeling of pure love. One thing done very well in this book is that it isn't insta-love, but an attraction and connection built over time (even with all the crazy drama). I will definitely read more of Ms. Montague's book (cause I really do love her writing style) and just say that some of the stuff in this book was not for me.

This one was ok. I liked both Sean and Morgan as characters. I found the whole we fell in love over three weeks of text messages completely unbelievable (at least how it was protrayed ). I could see "like" but basically Sean was head over heals for her, talking about forever, before they even met, and it was just too much. Morgan was more realistic about the whole thing. I was irritated that she would basically say "we're over" and run away every time something upset her. Not that I felt like she wasn't justified for being upset, but it just got old after a while. It felt like half the book was taken up with her getting upset, and him trying to apoligise.

Also, while I liked her, Morgan had more issues than pretty much any heroine I've read this year. She has trust issues because of a past boyfriend. She has a problem with people who are super rich because of her grandfather. It seemed like every circumstance was set up to push all her buttons - which lead to her being a hot mess most of the book.

I eventually liked them, but Sean's friends and family really ticked me off with the whole over protective thing. It felt like they took it too far. I get wanting to protect your friend from scheming gold diggers, but have a little faith in Sean to pick a good one. There was less about the whole "Hollywood" aspect then I had thought there would be, which was disappointing. Sean was also almost too perfect (after two really epic mess ups in the beginning). I didn't feel natural. No one is that thoughtful and understanding.

Overally, a good story, if a bit overtly drama filled. Just nothing exceptional.

I loved this story! It shows how two people from different world can become one if they work for it. Yes the characters had their downfalls, and yes they had problems that maybe we wouldn't have, but they worked for what they knew was worth it.

I really loved Sean. He did 1 things that really made me mad, but other then that he spent the whole book trying to prove his love for Morgan. It was a beautiful thing to see. He was sweet and funny, caring and protective.

Morgan got on my nerves a few times but it wasn't anything too bad. She had a rough life and while she overcame it, it still was there in the back of her mind and affected how her relationship with Sean went. I love how much she loved her friends and her sassy attitude.

The plot has been done before but the authors approach was amazing, we see more of the relationship then we do with the whole famous stuff. While it is a key factor, I feel like the romance took center stage.

Overall I really loved this story, it has low drama, but enough to keep you reading and finding out what will happen. It was sweet and funny at the same time. If you're looking for a cute love story with a normal woman and a famous man, then this book is for you, you won't be disappointed. 5 stars

After reading a bunch of reviews on amazon, I was excited to read this.. And I convinced myself I liked it at first, but it's bugging me more and more as I go! Morgan is a good character, and she's likable enough, but I'm not getting why everyone is instantly in love with and/or completely charmed by her.. When she kept getting dramatic and storming off I actually started rolling my eyes! And why was it so quickly accepted that he wasn't going to be a womanizing cheat, when those are the exact circumstances they 'met' over?! Maybe I'm jaded but I wouldn't have accepted it all so easily! And Stewies character is bugging me.. Super flip floppy.. Is he the easy going dude that's rooting for them, and Is instantly charmed (hugging her and making bets that the other friends will love her) or is he the skeptical douche that keeps questioning her motives?

Those criticisms aside, I do like the premise, and I'll pick it back up eventually, but for now u need a break from falling in love ridiculously fast, reality suspended without question, and characters flippy flopping all over the place.

It started out really well, and I was entertained by the characters and the developing email relationship. But once Sean actually showed up on Morgan's door, the drama of their relationship got annoying really fast. Morgan, who was such a strong character or portrayed a such to start, really became clingy and dependent. She questioned her relationship and even as she said she wouldn't give in, she caved and took him back. And the romances of the side characters just seemed too convenient. Everyone falling in love at first sight? I had to really force myself to read beyond the movie premiere. Sean's antics at the premiere just seemed so out of character, and the whole Michelle manipulation seemed off, given that she also had a boyfriend who appeared to be someone she liked. Basically, there were holes in the plot that I couldn't quite plug. The fact that she is almost always dragging Cerise into her drama also got tired really fast. If I was Cerise, I would have run screaming in the opposide direction as this girl seemed to be more taker than giver. I might pick up another one of Montague's books, but not because of the merits of this one.

3.5 stars. There is so much I liked about this book, but some I didn't. The premise of this book is great - yes it's quick but it's a book not reality. The romance is great, the intensity is great- the other characters all have stories that get a good wrap up, no cliff hangers for other books. If you're a flowers & hearts girl you'll love it.

My issues - Sean at times is too intense, and with that intense love I would have liked more passionate bedroom scenes, they were far and few between and just not enough oomph for me - Really vanilla.

There was an ex husband situation I would have liked to hear more about what the final outcome was. Finally, it was really long. It could have been shortened up a little.

I liked this book. I would say I give it 3.5 stars as opposed to just 3 though. I cried more than usual throughout this book....but I'm PMS'd right now so not sure if it's even fair to take that into consideration. LOL
The H does something about midway through that I just couldn't bring "myself" to forgive (the h does forgive him). There again,....PMS'd. ;o
There are H's in books that f*@k up & do stupid things and it just isn't as hard to forgive them as it is to forgive the H in this book. I have NO clue as to why that is!! Maybe it is because the H & h don't ever REALLY talk about it and the H doesn't truly ASK/BEG/grovel for her forgiveness. That must be it!
There is a HEA here.

Literary masterpiece this is not. I was looking for a fluffy book to pass the time, and was rewarded with a predictable plot, a heroine who can't hold onto her emotions against others for more than five minutes before giving in and going along with said others, plus a male who's so perfect and rich and famous and dreamy that he was rejected from Disney for too much perfection. Nah, thanks. I'll drop you for a fluff more worthwhile.

3.5 stars. I like the idea and plot of this book. The beginning where they are texting was actually really cute. How her bestir butted in and got involved. I liked everything about the book and story. The one thing I was over and getting annoyed with was Morgans breakdowns/insecurity fits. It was tiring for her to be so weak. I wanted to strangle her! But otherwise I enjoyed the book.
