Michael Robbins has constructed a short, compelling, and fast-paced story of the beginnings of the steam train in England and how it intertwined with British society and beyond. The early days of the railroad are not as we see them today. It was an exciting new technology, opened up new worlds of travel, and fascinated people on all levels of society. If you love trains you will enjoy reading this book!
