One of the best SS/HG fics I have ever read.
Also, with 1000+ pages it gives you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the story

I wish I could read this again for the first time. This story has perfect characterization and great pacing. I didn’t put it down for three days! I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a perfectly written time travel fic that will tug at your heart strings.

It’s pretty well written, but there are some very vexing plot and characterization choices made.

Their child, Selenius. His first five years are stuffed into one chapter before he’s shipped off to stay with Hermione’s unsuspecting relatives (whose child had died, so she modified their memory… but not that of everyone else they know…). Severus isn’t at the birth and is basically absentee. Once H drops the kid off? They’re just happy they can fuck again.

S remains a pretty detached father throughout, which believe can track given his childhood and circumstances. However, it’s never really presented as such. H inexplicably thinks and assures him that he’s an amazing father. Which brings me closer to my next point…

This might be a more poignant story (in the first half) if it were a Hermione/Sirius story. They have a solid friendship (opinions may vary on if he deserves that…), and Selenius lives with him for a good portion of the story. It might be less bothersome had that been the choice made from the beginning. And could’ve also been grounds for some angst with Sirius raising S’s son (which is only glancingly brought up later when Selenius lives at Grimmauld).

There are also much discussed (well as much as can be, because god forbid you even slightly critique fanfic) concerns with how little is changed by H throughout the 2 decades. What I found most perplexing though is the fact that “shhh no one can know I exist!!!” Yet 1) Albus has her use her birth name (“everyone will forget anyways!” Albus, my dude… the least amount of foresight that man has ever had), and 2) pretty much every wizarding adult knows she in fact exists in two timelines—Order, Ministry, and Death Eaters alike. V and his DEs (especially Lucius…!) have some weird strict, unspoken honor code not to tip off Harry or use it to their benefit at all really.

Again, the prose itself is well-written and the author clearly has talent. It’s just another frustrating example where having a strong beta to challenge the storyline could have really tightened up the plot and characterizations.

At first I was a bit sceptical bcs Snape and Hermione. But then I got dragged in and in the end I loved it. And couldn‘t out it down anymore!

3.5 ⭐️, it did start to get a bit tedious to get through when it finally caught back up to 5th-6th year timelines tbh. cute ending though.

dropped 30%, just letting things happen, she may as well join the death eaters. And making friends with people she knows shes going to let die is sickening. This is the complete opposite of a fix-it story. It's well written though.
