He’s a Guardian, she’s a Noble. Two worlds that never merge, and yet when Shadow answers the call to help bring back two Noble daughters their worlds do just that. Merge.
Falling for a Noble has never been a thought, and yet that is just what happens to Shadow. Alone for more years than he cares to remember he feels life flow into him once more when Janecka Ashford looks at him. He craves again, dreams of other things besides fighting. For the first time in many years he simply wants to be normal, and with her he can.
Love is forever in his eyes, and with Janecka she will always be his forever love.
Jaden Sinclair is the mother of two boys, married for thirteen years and has lived in Kansas most of her life. Her family supports her writing dream and are amazed at how vivid her imagination is at times.
She dreams up most of her ideas and writes every one of them down, making sure that one day her characters will get their own book. With so many new books coming to her almost daily it's a wonder at times she ever gets anything done. One of the interesting things that Jaden does with her writing is that she can always work on more than one book at a time.
In her spare time, when she can escape from the computer, Jaden knits and reads. But it's her love for writing as well as taking care of her family that keeps her the most busy.
Janecka Ashford is a Noble woman. Noble is the highest ranking of vampires. She is one of the girls who have been kidnapped and subsequently touched, by men. Touching is not as bad as it could be for mere mortal women who are kidnapped, but in the vampire society, it might as well be the kiss of death.
Touching a Nobel woman makes her tainted… stained. Their vampire community has always been and still is, forbidden to be touched by anyone other than their blood-mate. Many of the Nobles believe that once these women have been tainted, they must be killed, to remove the stain from the family lineage. Janecka has been touched.
Shadow is a vampire guardian and much like Romeo & Juliet, he is not to mingle with the Nobles. It’s been that way, forever. In light of what has happened to Janecka, he has decided to take matters into his own hands and find her and the two missing girls after he receives a video of the sisters in possession of their kidnappers. The compulsion to find them is overwhelming.
When shadow finds them he instantly feels very real connection with Janecka, however he refuses to dwell on it and returns the sisters to their father. As they get closer to the father’s home, Janecka is clearly very frightened.
Upon arrival, Shadow realizes quickly as to why. Her father is unloving and resentful toward Janecka, for she was not born a male. She’s been kidnapped, stained, marked for death and now rescued but he alarmingly ignores her. Janecka's fate lies in the hands of her sister’s, Victoria, intended husband, who ultimately decides Janecka and Victoria will have to die.
Shadow must come to the rescue of Janecka and Victoria again and takes them with him to where he and the rest of the Guardians live. As both Janecka and Victoria are blood-mates, they have to take a test to determine if they are the 'true' blood-mates to any of the vampires in residence. Janecka does not understand what a 'true' bonding is as the Nobles live a very different lifestyle and arrange bonding's. She does not understand why she is so drawn to Shadow who explains. Are they true blood mates?
The story takes more dramatic turns of unfortunate events, but Shadow remains in pursuit. The pull he feels toward Janecka is strong and it translates well throughout the pages.
This was a fantastic book and a genre I don’t normally read. It left me definitely wanting more! I felt a deep compassion for Janecka as she was never really accepted by her father. The way he raised her, she did not even know what a bra was! I loved the way that you could tell Shadow clearly loved her, right from he sees her.
There is humor and intense moments that combine with the passion for the lead characters that keeps this book a page turner. I really enjoyed every bit of this book and would highly recommend it to others, even those not into the paranormal genre.
