Blind Date

Rate this book
Darla never had time for love. Even though she worked in the perfume industry that epitomizes romance; no appropriate male ever wandered into the picture. Maybe that’s why she accepted her friend’s suggestion to fix up her up. Plus desperation, and a desire to make sure she even remembered how to act like a woman as opposed to a corporate warrior. Too bad, her arranged date fell on the eve before her meeting with some hot shot Italian nobleman she needed to sign for her company’s continued success. Even more ironic, her blind date Alex besides being the poster child for all things delicious had a sexy Italian accent. The accent alone should have reminded her of the need to prepare for her meeting. Instead charmed by his old world manners and animal magnetism she allows him to take charge and forgets about business. Two things she’d never done before.

Morgan K Wyatt, raised on a steady diet of superheroes, believed she could fly at a very young age. After using trees, barn lofts, sliding boards, and even a second story window as launch pads, she found her flying skills were limited to fast and downward. By the age of nine, her dreams to be a superhero needed some modifications, which caused her to turn to writing and horseback riding as alternatives to flying.

At the age of twenty, she had another chance at superhero greatness as being one of the few female soldiers trained for combat. The fact that women will be able to serve in combat soon indicates that all the witnesses to the grenade incident have retired. The grenade incident didn’t prevent her two sons or daughter-in-law from enlisting in the service. Having different last names probably helped.

Morgan recently retired from teaching special needs students to write fulltime, instead of in the wee hours of the night. With the help of her helpful husband and loyal hound, she creates characters who often grab plot lines and run with them. As for flying, she prefers the airlines now.

This adorable short read from Morgan K. Wyatt kept this reader amused and engaged from beginning to end. Although Darla is somewhat your stereotypical high-strung, female exec, she’s an engaging character. One glance at “Alex,” sitting alone in a restaurant, and she decides she likes him. And, ooh-la-la the reader can’t help but like him, too. Wyatt is one author who knows how to put together a hunky, sexy hero (“George Clooney had nothing on him,” and “crow’s feet never looked so sexy”).

From the beginning I suspected what wasn’t aboveboard with “Alex” (but no spoiler here), and couldn’t wait to get to the end for Darla to confirm my suspicions. With a charming hero, a bewitching heroine, and a witty situation, I was almost sorry to see “Blind Date” end.
