After an attack in the park, Roman loses his memory. He tries to remember his past as any person would do in his place. Only what he finds terrifies him. Is he really the man his family and friends know?
Writing was Natasha A. Salnikova's passion since she was fourteen. She worked as a writer and a host on various TV shows and published two books in Russia. Her early obsession with psychology naturally lead her to write psychological thrillers. Natasha enjoys researching different psychological disorders for her books. She's also an author of supernatural thrillers and science fiction novels. She's a huge pet lover, yoga practitioner, vegetarian, and immature photographer. She currently lives in sunny Florida with her family.
There is definitely a story here, maybe even a great story, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Dark Curtain with so many grammatical errors. I'm talking no fewer than 50. Predominately incorrect tense, but other glaring errors, like using "ridicule" when the sentence calls for "ridiculous" not once, but twice.
I liked the premise well enough, "After an attack in the park, Roman loses his memory. He tries to remember his past as any person would do in his place. Only what he finds terrifies him. Is he really the man his family and friends know?" So when the author contacted me and asked that I read her work and provide a review, I said, "Sure." What a mistake that was. I'm not going to say I'll never read another story I'm asked to read, but I will certainly be more selective in the future.
One last comment here. The surprise ending is a gem, but the author needs a better editor and could benefit from a professional proofreader. Remember, spell-check only finds spelling errors.
This was a kind of a parody of the psychological thriller genre, I guess. Somewhat unsettling, yet a fun read. Though not quite the kind of thriller I was expecting, its twists and turns held my interest right up to the end. The book needs editing, as the other reviewers have noted, but the spelling and grammar errors didn't spoil the story for me.
BEWARE! I downloaded this book while it was a Kindle freebie. Whether it is worth its current price depends not only on your reading mood and taste but also on how thick your wallet is.
This book started out rather slow, then things settled and the story seemed to begin. Although I really liked the premise, I found the numerous grammatical errors extremely distracting - sometimes several on a single page!
I read 2 other books by this author before, and although there were errors, it was nothing like I found in this book. And even more interesting was the note at the end stating that it had been professionally edited - I think this author needs her money back from them!
This is a very dark book. The book was very well written, it kept me involved and wanting to read more, but I didn't like the subject matter all that well. The twist at the end was a surprise and I didn't see it coming. A good book, a definite thriller.
I got this as a free book on my Kindle.. It is a very fast paced interesting book. I loved the story but thought the ending was kind of abrupt. I also found a lot of typos and misplaced words. But overall an excellent read. I would recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers.
This book tells a cracking story but is peppered throughout with so many mistakes that it wore me down in the end. Therefore I can only give it 2 stars. The author is aware I have mentioned this and has been in touch so I will be passing on the errors I spotted to her. I downloaded it free on 30/8/12 so if you have the same version I'd skip it. I read the author isn't English so that would account for some of the errors, I'd say, but it should have been properly edited. It tells of a guy waking up after an attack and he can't recall a thing about his life. He's married and is a father but has no memory of his life at all. Fascinating how we learn how he picks up clues to his personality from friends, family and computers !! The author plans to get it corrected and in that case I'd recommend it but not in its current incarnation.
