We have all the time in the world...until none exists at all...

Eighteen months have passed since Aurélie Segler-DeMarche and her sister, runway model Trésor DeMarche, have spoken to one another. A posh event held at Tavern on the Green changes everything for the hot and happening investigative journalist. Cable News World, Aurélie's own employer and network, reports the famous model has died under mysterious circumstances, locked in a cage in the dungeon of a penthouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Aurélie suspects foul play but when the police department is less forthcoming, she is forced to turn to the one person who might in fact have had something to do with her sister's death, Rory Krieger. Not only is the man sex on a stick but he is also a wealthy, elusive Dom in his early thirties who has kept Trésor as his submissive for the past two years.

As Aurélie digs deeper into the world of sadomasochism -- including the community, Club X-Tasy, and the eccentric members she meets -- she finds it harder to control the feelings she has for Rory. Though her first priority is to find out what truly happened to her sister, she loses herself in a world of secrecy, seduction and a path of dark desires she might not be able to resist.

Soon, she is wondering how deep is she willing to go to find out the truth and how easy will it be for a woman who prides self-control to give in to another's demands when it goes against the very grain of her personality? Some questions are best left unanswered but Aurélie soon learns the hard way she will have to lose herself to find herself...and the truth.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: anal play/intercourse, strong BDSM theme and elements.

On the positive side, the plot line is interesting, the murder mystery drew you right into the book...
Some reviews compared this to 50 Shades...but this is so much darker and waaaaayyyy dirtier than 50 Shades was. Although I love the mystery of the story, I couldn't take the raunchy sex. The type of BDSM this was and the multiple partners are not something I care to read about but that is just me. For those that do not mind the darker more sinister side of BDSM, they should love the book. I just didnt care for the characters, I have to have a little more moral fiber in my characters than was in this book for it to be enjoyable for me to read.
Also the characters didnt really seem to have any chemistry. The book just reads that they are into each other but you really don't get a sense of "feeling" that they do...there is little seduction and more getting down to the nitty gritty so to speak...not for me...

Killing Time is a suspenseful mystery novel with enough sex and BSDM thrown it that it is also an erotic romance. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the answers through the whole book and enjoyed the plot twists and the international feel to Killing Time.

Aurélie must decide how far she is willing to go to get the answers she seeks in her sisters death, is it worth diving into a lifestyle you are afraid got her killed to look for the truth? Should the obscenely wealthy be allowed to get away with what ever they want just because they can buy themselves out of trouble?

Rory is a question all on his own, what is his involvement? What about Seven? Could something from his past be the reason for Trésor’s death? If Aurélie submits to him for just the one night will it be enough? for either of them?

I really enjoyed this book, I found the characters well written and the story line had enough twists and turns that you were second and third guessing "who done it" through out. The BDSM is written in as just part of the story and doesn't feel like it was forced or as an after thought but as a seamless part of the plot line and story.

Who needs all those shades of gray when you have a great BDSM book by Elle Chardou? You get the edgy world of this alternative lifestyle laced with a murder mystery and love story. I feel like I know what to expect if I were to ever want to adventure into the BDSM world. Although, I would need to be the dom LOL. I have a single term for you "menage a trois" yeah Baby!

I loved that I was left guessing quite often with the many twists and turns within the quest for who dun it. This is a well written novel and well worth the adventure of reading it.

Killing Time is the first book in the Ties That Bind Trilogy. Aurelie finds out her sister, Tresor, has been found dead. She is surprised to learn that Tresor was into the BDSM scene, and believes there is a connection. The police are calling it a suicide, but she has reason to believe it is murder and sets out to find the truth. She meets Tresor’s lover Rory Krieger at the police station. Although she is distrustful she allows him to take her to pick up some of Tresor’s personal effects and they immediately begin an affair.

This story has some extremely complex characters. Aurelie Segler-DeMarche is a talented investigative reporter. She is engaged to a man she isn’t in love with only because of the convenience. She is kind put off on love because of a prior relationship, and has no solid ties with her family. In the beginning of the book she comes across as a bit cold. Rory is a Dom and the very wealthy owner of several BDSM clubs, and is quick to introduce Aurelie to the lifestyle. Rory is highly intelligent, and holds several degrees, including one from Harvard. He was introduced to the lifestyle through the first woman he was in love with. In my opinion, the most intriguing character in the book is Severin Krieger. Severin is Rory’s twin brother who is also in the lifestyle. He, like his brother, is very intelligent and has a talent for reading people. He is cold and calculating, and very sadistic. He is dominating in every sense of the word, to the point of even having a lot of control over Rory. His character is very dark and mysterious, and I still haven’t figured him out. All of the characters in the book are damaged to varying degrees.

I was into this story from the beginning. Chardou leads the reader on a true adventure with the mystery of Tresor’s death. She also takes the reader on a journey into the erotic. We catch a glimpse of the BDSM spectrum from a trusting Dom/Sub relationship to the darker side that uses degradation and humiliation as a means of domination. Although it happened really fast, I was fascinated with the development of Aurelie and Rory’s relationship, and also the role that Severin plays in it.

This book has very heavy BDSM themes that I thought made 50 Shades look rather tame. It takes you through a mind spinning ride all the way to the cliffhanger ending, and I am really excited for the next installment!

When I got this book, I was told that it’s a mix of Romantic Suspense and Erotic Romance but that it was more on the darker side of Erotica. You mean my three favorite genres all in one? sign me up!

The book begins with a BDSM scene. Trésor DeMarche is in the basement of her lover Rory Krieger and he is punishing her. See, their relationship is one of Total Power Exchange and while Trésor is not a slave, she is his submissive and obeys him completely. But this time she’s in the mood for punishment and deliberately disobeys. After the punishment she is locked up in a cage…. which is her last day alive. Upon hearing of her sister’s death, Aurélie Segler-DeMarche confronts Rory. Rory explains that he was not in the country and that it was his identical twin brother Severin who doled out Trésor’s punishment. Aurélie is not convinced and decides to investigate.

Sigh… I’m not sure where to begin. This book tested my patience. I’m convinced I have the patience of a saint… well… if you overlook the fact that I skimmed a lot! Ok, where to begin? I’ll start with the biggest problem – grammar. It felt to me as if the book was originally written in another language and got lost in translation. Or… it needs an editor.. bad. The second problem, and very related, the conversations in the book. I’ve never heard anyone speak that way. It was incredibly stilted and just plain unnatural. The rest of the problems were minor… mostly I just did not believe some of the situations and their reactions… too many to point out individually.

I started skimming at 60%. I will say that I loved the blurb. I thought there was a lot to the story and I do honestly think that after editing, the book will flow easier and the experience will be much more enjoyable.

It has an average of 4 stars on Goodreads so I will end with a disclaimer because I’m clearly the only one swimming against the tide… if you want a BDSM book with a murder plot… give it a try. But for me…

2 stars.

This is a book about mystery and highly complex characters. You don't quite know their motivations but you soon find out in this world, sex is a highly valued currency that if used well, you just might end up with what you want.

Poor Tresor, Aurelie's sister, finds herself on the wrong side of this bargain and someone decides she needs to be dispatched. Everyone is a suspect and to be honest, half the characters in the book, I don't trust but I am pretty sure that neither the heroine or the hero are the culprits.

Speaking of them, they do some pretty morally objectionable things. (SPOILER AHEAD: I wasn't impressed how she was sleeping with another man while engaged to someone else). However, she did redeem herself from breaking off her relationship with her fiance soon after and the book picked up steam from there.
I still believe at the end of the day, both the hero and heroine are decent people. Towards the end of the book, the heroine does something so unexpected, she immediately earned all the trust back I initially had lost in her due to her previous bad behavior.

Kudos to the author for writing a well written book which is a joy to read about characters who are slightly more mature and live in the real world with real jobs. Yes, there is an air of fantasy as the hero is filthy rich but I still enjoyed it and can't wait for the second installment.

Well wasn't this book a little gem!!

Beware this is no fifty shades of grey...If you are looking for a similar type of story to that look away now. Killing Time, seems much more accurate to the lifestyle and was a very refreshing read. This was BDSM at its most raw but also sensual. We get a look into the lifestyle briefly but I believe there will be more in-depth in books 2 & 3. The plot was very clever with murder mystery and love interlaced into the story.

Rory - A sexy dom who is grieving the murder of Auriele's sister. He is very loving but has that edge of control that makes him damn swoon worthy!

Auriele - Wasn't she a surprise? On the surface she seemed like a prude if I'm honest. But throughout the book you could feel her inner kink becoming to make an appearance. Her investigative streak into her sisters death is going to play a big part in future books, cant wait to see how that will spin out.

Severn - Well, Well, well. Now isn't he a dark character? There is times where I outright hate the guy and times where he has earned my pity but most of the time I feel nothing but contempt for him. He controls his twin brother, Rory completely and gets to the point where he can't do much without his brother's "blessing." He reminds me of a snake, and he's more involved in everything than he makes out.

Get ready to delve into the real world of BDSM, not that candy-coated, hearts and flowers BDSM that we all read about.

Aurelie's life is turned upside down when her sister is found dead from mysterious circumstances. She is determined to figure who killed her sister, what she wasn't expecting was to fall head first into the BDSM world and her sisters' lover's arms.

Rory, Rory, Rory, don't get me started on him. I wanted to hate him, "Oh, look at this cocky SOB!". Yep, I said that when I first met Rory. However, he grew on me and spanked his way into my heart and he is there to stay. Once he let his heart thaw out we got to see the sweet, caring, yet still overwhelmingly sexy side of Rory.

I loved him and Aurelie together. They were caring and loving all the time but when they got into the bedroom...Wow! Dom Rory came out and had me wanting to submit at his feet.

His brother Severin seriously creeped me out. He was in the BDSM world also but he was is a more sadistic Dom. He believes in breaking his slaves down and keeping them that way. He was hot and cold when it came to Aurelie. One minute he hated her and the next he was being semi normal to her. He confused the hell out of me to say the least but in a good way.

I am dying to see where this trilogy progresses. I need more Rory and I need him now.

Killing Time by Elle Chardou is the BDSM novel to put 50 Shades to shame. Centered around the murder of submissive Tresor, this is the ultra sexy tale of the relationship between Tresor's sister and her former dominant.

Her sister's death launches journalist, Aurelie into her sister's secret sexual fantasies. She doesn't buy for a hot second that Tresor committed suicide. Quickly accepting that her lover was not involved, Aurelie teams up with Rory to find the truth.

Though the murder mystery is intriguing and keeps the pages turning, the real great is in the attraction between Aurelie and Rory. They fight it, leading to plenty of suspense and sexual tension. The two definitely set off some fireworks.

Chardou writes beautifully, especially concerning the BDSM asexual dynamics. This book is sexy for sure, but doesn't wrap the asexual dynamics up in a sugar veil. Instead, she presents the relationships in a raw format. It's raw, its authentic and it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

I've been reading Ms. Chardou for 5 years now. Ever since she wrote Paranormal Romance. I happened to come across the recommended for me with this really sexy cover on it. Now this was before the FSOG CRAZE, so I was feeling frisky and clicked it. The synopsis drew me in. I had to get it bad the second, the 3rd which was not out yet. Needless to say I was sucked into the world of debauchery, angst, mystery, and drama.

Now I will give you a quick character rundown;

1. Auriele, sister of Tresor, successful journalist, engaged to a pretty boy, lame ass in the sack douche Grayson. Arielle likes to live a lavish lifestyle, and expects to have gifts showered upon her. The thought of her taking the money she has earned to get a normal NYC appt to her is not even a consideration. That is what I hate about her. Now what I love, she is not afraid to take on the brothers.

2. Rory attractive, comes from old money

This story starts out immediately with a murder and a mystery full of suspense that leads to the victim, Tresor's sister, looking for the truth. They ruled her death a suicide and every character seems dark and full of opportunity.

Somehow Aurelie & Rory bond over the grief and it becomes much more than passion to overcome the grief. The story unwinds with twists that you never see coming with Rory's twin brother Severin. Everytime I thought I knew what was going to happen, or predict the author not only was able to keep me on the edge but also this book flowed fast due to how well written it was. This is a MUST READ, but it is also one for MATURE AUDIENCE. This one belongs on the list for Erotica! The scenes are HOT & Steamy!

First I received this book as a ARC for a honest review, and when I tell you that I could not put it down, I stayed up all night just to read it. From page one I was pulled into the book, it caught my attention and definitely kept it to the very last page. Fifty Shades of grey has nothing on Killing Time, it is very in your face hardcore BDSM, not the plain handcuffs and blindfolds but the make me unable to walk for weeks kind of sex. I can not wait to see how Aurelie( one of main characters) life goes from here, it's a small world in this book as all the characters lives somehow have crossed paths. A must read for anyone looking for excitement and a twisted passion, makes me wish there was a Club X-Tasy near me ( for research lol)

What a great book, but seriously, what the hell?!? No freakin ending. Who killed Trésor? I found myself going back and re-reading making sure that I hadn't missed something. Yes I know that it's a build up for Killing Desire, but seriously ARGH!!

The author went into great detail building up all of the characters, so I am not certain who the murderer is. Sex is currency in this dark book.

Severin is a power hungry lunatic- I would say he is the mirror twin to Rory's calm. And I do find it a bit skeevish that Auriel could easily jump into something with her recently dead sister's lovers.

This book is about three seriousley srewed up people. We have Severin who is a very depraved and sadistic individual , we have Rory his twin brother who supposedly is softer and kinder but I wonder if he is not just hiding his true personality. Then we have Aurelie who starts a relationship with her dead sisters Dom (Rory) two days after finding out her sister was killed in the Dom's basement locked in a cage. This story has alot of twists and turns and makes you question the actions of all the players in this book.

I certainly wasted $3.99 buying this. I dont know how over and over I get suckered into one clicking either. I think I need a twelve step program! This was dark and that said I love dark but this was trying to get a rise in a bad way. Another issue as with others from this author is the edits. The writing and story line are another issue! WASTE

Interesting premise. Enjoyed the sex scenes. Heavier BSDM scene than 50 Shades. Eager to finish this series and see where Aurelie and Rory end up.

I wondered if Ms. Chardou is a native French speaker because there are grammatical errors that seem to be phonemic in nature. I tried to ignore these errors and simply read over them.

One of the best books I have read all year. This has definitely been one of the few books I can list on my must-read list including Bared to You, Fifty Shades of Grey, Reflected in You and If I Were You.

The plot development is excellent and the sex is great! Loved this book. Love this author.
