Death comes to Winterfell in the fourth installment of Daniel Abraham’s thrilling adaptation of George R. R. Martin’s fantasy masterwork A Game of Thrones. Bran Stark lies broken, in a coma from which he may never awaken. Yet his would-be killers dare not leave his death to chance. And now is the time to strike. Bran’s father, Eddard Stark, has left for King’s Landing to serve as the Hand of the King. Bran’s bastard brother, Jon Snow, rides north to join the brotherhood of the Night’s Watch. Robb, his trueborn brother, has all of Winterfell in his charge. And his mother, Catelyn, is worn out with grieving. Who can protect the young lord?

Unless something changes in the individual comics, My reviews will pretty much be exactly the same for each book. I love how the locations look and I love how it follows the book to the letter, Not a basic synopsis but it literally follows entire chapters and I love that.
For a third time, Poorly designed characters and great locations. It's about time they finally made their way out of Winterfell and now the comics are finally progressing the way I hoped they would. I did like the gory scene near the end as well, That was well done.
Still don't like the comics but issue 4 is easily the best one.
And back to more annoyance with the graphics in this one. That's Jon Snow there on the cover. All he needs is an Indian headdress and this could be a cover of a Winnetou novel...
The story's moving along nicely, though, which is why I'm giving it 3.5 brownies.
Ah, this is when everything starts going pear shaped. It's at this point when I think of this image because it is just so damn appropriate:
Anyway, this is mostly more Stark storyline.
And I LOVED the way they presented the chair! It's how Martin envisioned it and described it, not the little pathetic thing that's in the show. Much happy about that!
This is the last issue I have, and I doubt I'll continue the series, but it was good for what it was. I'd probably be more interested in seeing a version of the later books since that is when the storylines get really convoluted.
Still the same comment as the first issue, except that after some issues, I find it a lot more easy to see the differences between the character, even if i still think that some of them seem a lot a like. The story goes well and the inteogue is very well implented event for a comic books, i fear in the beginning that it will come more simple than the book, but so far that not the case and the essence of the book are well represented!
in this issue we see: Another attempted murder gets foiled, travelers reach the great wall, another journey embarked. Very enjoyable issue. It takes a lot to establish character and I think it is more my memory than the script that is making me love or hate them. The plot however is dense and is paced well even in this short length, there is no dull moment in this run.
Grade: A “Most Men would rather Deny a hard truth than face it.” -Tyrion Lannister

The Graphic Arts did well on the Version scene from the actual novel, but heir faces are like plastic and shine instead a human emotion. Assassin’s graphic Death is amazing. Dark and light are really good. Every Storyline was very well indeed follow in each chapter Story.
We're finally getting out of Winterfell. Wonderbar~!
I liked this issue less than the previous ones. While the backgrounds and locations are really nice, I don't really like the character art. It's alright at times, but then kind of ugly at other times. Sometimes, I have a hard time remembering who's who, too.
Also, what's up with you, Catelyn? Why you gotta be that way?? Someone needs to get the stick out of her butt. I also find it funny how she acts all moody over Ned leaving when she encouraged him to go (which I don't think she did in the shows, but did in the books, but whatever). Like, make up your mind, lady.
Yes, despite all the flaws mentioned by the reviewers, which are probably true, the book is a five star read. It's brilliantly written and compels you to keep reading. So what if the books end abruptly and you have to buy the next one. You get plenty of bang for your buck. And yes, there were some predictable moments but there were plenty of surprises too. The writing is fresh and compelling and the characters are interesting and memorable. I'm not sure what readers are looking for exactly when they crack open a book but they need to lighten up. For a nominal fee, you will get hours of entertainment. Buy it. You won't be sorry. Makes a good gift too, as most people like it.
very exciting george rr martin has outdone himself in this epic fantasy masterpiece, throughout the book he has brought in many new twists and turns and exotic characters that a world of their own. he does something that very few writer can do well by weaving together hundreds of character and their own stories into one book. other writers can weave one or two characters stories butt he does an entire worlds. he is breathtakingly good at drawing in reader and i have-not been able to put the book down for the life of me. i highly advise this book for all who enjoy a good fantasy.
High-level story seems fine. In most cases, it seems logical. Far too graphic. Descriptions of brutal killings and rapes carry more detail than is warranted. It seems as if Martin wanted a murder or rape every three pages. Shows women in a poor light - seems women had no status except as objects. Story jumps from character to character making it hard to follow unless one draws a family tree spanning several sheets. I have heard of rich storylines but this is going too far. Overall, seems to be a cheap porn book.
books 4 & 5 are part 1 & part 2 of the same series, but this book is all about the politics of Kings Landing and the seven kingdoms. Book 5 is all about the Outerlands and the wall. I liked this book more then I liked 5, but it is because I like the stories of the seven kingdoms better, not because either book is better then the other.
The Bastard of Winterfell and the Dwarf of Casterly Rock are following Benjen Stark to the Wall. Brandon Stark is still comatose, and a killer tries to sort him out, too bad that his Direwolf protects him. Lady Stark gets ready to travel south, while The Warden of the North and the King of the Iron Throne contemplate sending a hired hand to kill Daenarys and Viserys Targaryen.
George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel, (NY: Bantam, 2012) Issue#4
“... And yet there was that one time. What was her name? Your bastard's mother, I mean” - Robert. “Her name was Wylla, and I would sooner not speak of her.” - Ned Stark.
What a mammoth iron throne
“Dragons. When I was your age, I used to dream of having a dragon of my own.” - Tyrion - - -
Bran has flown out the window courtesy of Jamie. I can't tell you how this made me feel. But this world is not the present, it is far removed from where we are now, or is it? Anyway, Jon goes to the Great Wall, up north, to possibly freeze to death, Ned goes down south to certain death, with 2 daughters in tow. Caitlyn is mad with grief, and Robb is trying to keep it all together, ( not)!
The best thing about reading books is that you get to disappear into a world you've only dreamed of going to. I led myself into a new world and I love it here. Don't want this to end. I love comics but now I want to buy the book series as well...
I like book series. This was a great start but not sure I have enough time to read the rest? Great story with intriguing characters and plots. Names were hard to keep track of? Well written medieval science-fiction
