Very relatable and in words that make it easy to understand

This book is definitely in devotional style and some might find it a bit too "feel good theology" for their tastes, but everything was biblically sound as far as I could tell and there are a couple psalms on which he lets on there is scholarly learning in the authors background. I personally don't feel I gained from most of the material; however, the material I did gain from was incredibly valuable for me at this point in my journey - indeed, rather refreshing. Overall, I think this a book that will edify most of its readers.

This was a borderline between a 3 star book and a 4 star book and I struggled to make up my mind. There's a lot of great encouragement and I loved so much of what this book had to say. And it can be really uplifting.

However, there are times when the writing falters and comes up with an interpretation of a section of a psalm that's obviously not right, but sounds good. Still, it's a decent read if you're careful and know what you're getting.

Great Resource When Studying The Psalms!

Psalms: The Sunrise Of Hope by Bob Saffrin is expository teaching on a selection of Psalms (3, 8, 13, 23, 40, 42-43, 84, 91, 107, and 139.) It is an excellent resource that gives historical background of each psalm as well as insight from the author's experience. Psalms: The Sunrise Of Hope is a great read and a must have to fill your spiritual tool chest with encouragement and hope before they are needed.

Really really liked his way of looking at individual psalms. He ended with Psalm 139 which is probably one of my favorites if not my fave. Gave me a lot to think about and reflect upon -- wish he had written about more of them. Recommend highly!!
