Phoebe Capello is used to loneliness. Each of her lives lasts only a thousand weeks before her fiery nature flames up and burns her alive. Sure, she rises from the ashes—as a proper phoenix should—but it's next to impossible to find lovers who can weather the heat of her hunger unscathed. And if she doesn't get laid soon...
Firecracker: Too hot to handle. Looking for a fireproof lover.
Stunt driver and hellhound Jarrett Chance is no stranger to Last Call. He’s a creature of fire himself, and he’s come to the bar looking for a woman to burn with him. Phoebe is gorgeous and passionate, with an endearing shyness that intoxicates him almost as much her blistering kisses. But is she looking for a single, scorching night…or a lifetime of red-hot rendezvous?
How do you make a Moira Rogers? Take a former forensic science and nursing student obsessed with paranormal romance and add a computer programmer with a passion for gritty urban fantasy. Toss in a dash of whimsy and a lot of caffeine, and enjoy with a side of chocolate by the light of the full moon.
By day, Bree and Donna are mild-mannered ladies who reside in the Deep South. At night, when their husbands and children are asleep, they combine forces to unleash the product of their fevered imaginations upon the page.
This is the last book in the Last Call series and I am hoping that maybe another will turn up at some time. This short form erotica has worked for me partly because of the use of paranormal characters and a drink that can get them together. While it at first seems that it is about one night stands there is a serious element of romance behind the pairings.
Firecracker: Too hot to handle. Looking for a fireproof lover.
Phoebe Capello is the mythical Phoenix. She is lonely and has been celibate for years because it is almost impossible to find a lover who can handle fire. Jarrett Chance is a stunt driver and a Hell hound who has no problem with fire. He lives danger every day and finds a night with Phoebe to be both thrilling and dangerous.
If you have not tried this series you should definitely give it a look. Kamikaze will get you started and you may not stop until you get here. Enjoy!
Like the other last call books this is a short little novella Last call is a bar that Is hidden from humans and only supernaturals can see.
Phoebe is a Phoenix that bursts into flames whenever she has an orgasm. She also is born into a new body every 1000 weeks which is 19 years.
Jarrett is a Hellhound born in hell So he can withstand the fire that That baby is sure to ignite and she hasn't had an orgasm with the man for about a 100 years.
I really enjoyed this book I just wish it were longer. 4 Stars
Pheobe is a Phoenix who happens to burst into flame every time she climaxes. Good for her…bad for her partners. She can’t find anyone that she can really let loose with and be herself. She is alone…
So she walks into Last Call and orders a Firecraker…it is a request for a fire resistant lover.
Who answers her call? Jarret Chance, Hellhound. They were both born from fire and both are happy to have a night of letting go…
I downloaded this novella as part of the Last Call series set. I Really enjoyed the concept of a supernatural bar where your drink order announces to prospective partners what you are looking for. I was starting to get burned out (pun intended) by the time I got to this last story in the series. A phoenix and hellhound? Great match up-- but I felt there were some missed opportunities with the storyline-- this would have made a great full length novel. Still, a good story.
Last Call's Firecracker drink description: "Too hot to handle. Looking for a fireproof lover." That applies for Phoebe, a rare phoenix, and Jarrett, a fireproof hellhound, that are this story's couple.
Just knowing that the people in this one are a phoenix and a hellhound made me want to read this one, such an odd combo. I loved that each of them could handle the fire of the other and wanted more and were willing to do whatever it took to grab for a future.
I love these Last Call books - such a great premise - and I seriously hope this isn't the last one they write. Firecracker features a phoenix and a hellhound, two creatures who burn in the throes of passion but who rarely find partners who can handle the heat. Needless to say, this was steamy!
I hope this isn't the last book respirator since it wasn't my favorite. It could of gone one more chapter to the end of her 1000 week so we could see what she comes back as and how he handles it.
Just as Hot as the rest of this short novella series! This couple was literally on fire...ohhweee HOT HOT DAMN!! Phoebe & Jarrett are so damn cute and HOT together. Loved it!
As always, a wonderful addition to the Last Call collection. I love these books. Wonderful short stories that really engage the reader in the character's lives.
The author(s) Moira Rogers knocked this "quickie" paranormal romp of a series out of this world! Thanks for some great stories, witty dialog, and hot-hot love scenes.
