Lonely young witch, Veronica Hardwicke, has struggled to get on with her life after the death of the elderly husband who’d left her a fortune and a sprawling estate in mystical Sleepy Hollow. When frightening things go bump in the night on a stormy Fourth of July, who better to call than the sexy developer and contractor, Sean Jones, who's been renovating her mansion for months?
Sean may grace the tabloid pages with a different supermodel on his arm every night, but it's Veronica who drives him nuts. Ignoring his instinct to stay away, he answers her summons.
Will the thundering passion of their 1Night Stand tear down the barriers between them?

Once again a great book from the 1Night Stand collection!!
A quick read with minimal story and loads of steam. The set-up here was kinda quick and not as involved as other books in the collection.
This story was more about the steam and all the feelings seemed kinda rushed. Veronica could have used a touch more backstory and Sean was kind of a player. And the creaky noises were a bit of a letdown. I was hoping for something more sinister!
Trust me though the steam is hot and heavy on all levels!! You may want to leave off the panties when reading cause they'll only get soaked!
Lord Lord I love me some 1Night Stand Novellas. These Novellas are so hot to handle I want to read them all.
I will not ruin it for anyone but I will say this Veronica and Sean are great together. Veronica is nursing a broken heart because her husband has passed away and she seeks comfort from Sean. What Sean gives her is so much more than she dreams of.
These Novellas are hot and heavy and leave you breathless and wanting more!
Wow! For a small book, this sure gives you a good story. I really like that it's set in Sleepy Hollow, and that she's a witch. And I'd really love to be able to do that magical move through space to a comfy bed, that sure came in handy! This is the first time I've read this author, and I have to say I'm looking forward to reading more.
Bloody brilliant. Taryn's usual flare is 100 percent present in THUNDER. She always writes such intelligent stories filled with wit and heat. One of my all time favorite authors. SLEEPY HOLLOW is a must read series for those who enjoy their paranormals on the magical side of things. THUNDER is a dark n spooky sexy read..one worthy of a Tim Burton movie.
Warning: If you haven't read a 1NS book before, you might want to check out the Official 1 Night Stand series site to learn more about it.
My Thoughts:
I read it on a stormy night. It was hullava big mistake!! Unfortunately it didn't come with a sexy Sean and a jacuzzi. Damn! Maybe I should contact Madam Eve, too. V, you lucky witch!!
Anyway... I really liked this book and it grabbed me from the very beginning. Thunder felt like a sequel to Lightning merely because Sean is Campbell's brother, who is the protagonist in Lightning, and Sean mentiones Lily and Campbell a few times, and Camp even makes an "appearance" in this one. Only a few lines and they're on the phone, but still it was an entertaining dialogue. Little fun, little serious.
I will not talk about the story, because anything I'd say would be spoiler and could ruin your reading experiences with this book. However, I can tell you that I liked the twist, how Veronica and Sean ended up together (they would have end up together, eventually). The paranormal element is that Veronica is a witch, and even though only once she tooks advantage of it, she's being a witch does affect the story. I guess we could call it the complication of the story, because in some way, that's what leads her into the man's arms.
The Man: Sean Jones. I loved the parts from his point of view. He is definitely my type. First, he is cold, distant, most of the times confident about himself but not cocky, okay, just a little, but that's somehow entertaining, because he has a GREAT sense of humor along with his cockyness. But when/if he lets you in you can see how caring he is. And he sure as hell knows how to show the girl a good time ;)
Now.. on to the best part. The scenes y'all can't wait to read. No no, don't deny it! There are two types of those hot scenes in this book. Fantasy and Reality just like in your life, right. The first one is at the beginning of the book, where Sean's imagination takes over. He has a pretty good and detailed one, I must say. Of cource his are hotter than Vero's, just a little bit. The actual or "reality" sex scenes are at the very end of the book, but worry not, the story will keep you awake until you get there. And it'll definitely worth the wait.
I loved the ending. Although it was a bit like if someone would have said "CUT" in the middle of a movie, it was a perfect ending. Weird, I know, but it was. I think it was really funny and touchy at once. I guess I love Sean's "romantic" speaches.
There was one little thing that kept a bit annoying me. The one thing, that I said a hundred times that I love about 1NS stories. The title being present in the story. That's always creative. It is this time too and has meaning, but I had to read "Thunder" too many (5) times. Yes, it felt a little bit pushy for me.
I give this "only" four stars, because of my problem with the word repeating I mentioned above, and because while it was a good book and entertaining enough, it didn't completely sucked me in. You know, I didn't said "I WANT MORE" at the end. It was great while it lasted, but that's the end and it feels right. Which is not a complete bad thing.
Oh, one more thing. As being a total cover-whore... I LOVE the cover! I love when a cover represents the story and this one does. Great colors too. Although I don't really like the font with the "1NS" is written, because while it's a nice font, it completely stands out of the setting. I know that's the official "mark" of the series, but still...
*I received a copy from the author for review purposes.
*NOTE: this is a duo review for two books... My Ratings: Lightning: 4 stars: Enjoyed - strongly recommend (A-) Thunder: 3.5 stars: Liked it - recommend (B+) Originally posted on 1/18 at: http://www.twimom227.com/2013/01/revi...
Both Lightning and Thunder are novella-length books in Decadent Publishing’s 1 Night Stand series. For those unfamiliar, the 1NS series is a set of loosely-tied, yet completely stand alone stories, written by several different authors, all based on a dating service run by the mysterious Madame Eve. Although we never meet her, Madame Eve’s name appears in every story, and she has a exemplary track record for making perfect matches for anyone and everyone - no matter how simple or complex.
In Lightning, our heroine Lily Night is a celibate succubus, refusing to have sex with a mortal man for 10 years since she sent her first and only love to the emergency room and into a 6-week coma. Campbell Jones hasn't forgotten Lily or that night which changed his life forever. Now the pair are reunited thanks to Madame Eve, where they may find a second chance at love.
I adored that this couple had a prior history and both still deeply cared for (and lusted after) the other. This history allowed me to feel a deeper connection with the couple right from the start, and the “I love you” didn't seem out of place after coming so quickly. Lily and Camp had great chemistry, although I’m not sure why Camp was instructed by 1NS to blindfold Lily for so long. That piece didn’t add to the story and was a little odd. Their uncertainty giving over to lust created a wonderful atmosphere for their reunion. Overall, Lightning is an enjoyable romantic and lusty novella.
In Thunder, Ms. Kincaid’s second story from Sleepy Hollow, Camp's younger, playboy brother Sean fantasizes about the widow Veronica Hardwicke to the point that he is having performance issues with the models he normally dates. But since he is the construction foreman for the revisions of Veronica’s multi-million dollar mansion, he would never get involved with the boss, no matter how hot she is. Meanwhile, lonely Veronica dreams of Sean day and night. Having been celibate for the past 5 plus years, Veronica finally decides to give Madame Eve a try, signing up for the 1NS service after the referral from Camp. Of course, Madame Eve always knows the perfect match...
Once again, Ms. Kincaid is extremely adept at creating just the right amount of backstory, creating a pre-existing history between the individuals, which makes this shorter length story more satisfying. While allowing for an emotional connection, this story is also full of heat, sex and fun. Although Thunder was slightly more erotic than Lightning, I felt some of the dialogue between Sean and Veronica was a little cheesy, which was mildly distracting. However, the story was another fun romp and a pleasurable read.
Both stories are primarily contemporary with a slight paranormal edge. Each can be read independently, but since the Jones brothers are featured in both, it makes it a little more fun to read them together. Lightning and Thunder are both entertaining reads and fun quickies!
Yet another hot, spicy and memorable 1Night Stand read that heats you to the core and satisfies your desire for a quick sensual read without leaving you hanging, but leaving you wanting more. I really enjoyed Thunder and felt as if it was a sequel to Lightning because of the character inclusion (that being Sean’s brother Campbell) and the fact the Sean was also in Lightning (those are two HOT men right there!)
Veronica is a young widower, whom is also a witch and a lonely witch at that. She’s not been with male companionship for some time and craves it deeply. She has someone in mind, but he’s all about business and does not give her a second glance. She decided to take a chance and fill out an application for Eve’s 1NS, but it has been weeks since she’s heard anything. Sitting alone in her still to be completed mansion, she can think of only one person to call...
Sean is one that enjoys his arm candy, amongst other things (*wink *wink). He’s not been as satisfied as usual ever since he’s seen his brother’s happiness. When his brother calls him and tells him he’s made a major move to help him to REALLY be happy, even if it’s for one night, Sean is practically speechless. He knows who he craves, but she is way out of his league. A man can dream in the meanwhile, but remember, there are those dreams that come true ;)
Madame Eve’s 1NS stories are the best reads to get you by with a quick and satisfying fix (I know I’m repeating myself, but I mean it) and Taryn Kicaid has created another great one that any erotic paranormal romance reader will be sure to enjoy.
3.5 Stars Thunder is a novella of thirty-six pages and part of a series entitled, Sleepy Hollow.
Strange things are happening in Veronica Hardwicke's mansion--noises that have the witch wondering who or what is making them. Over the last few months, the construction company, By Jones, has been busy renovating the older home. And one night during a bad storm, all the mysterious banging and eerie sounds make Veronica very nervous. She calls the only man she cannot stop thinking about--Sean Jones.
Sean Jones thinks that Veronica is about as "nutty as a bag of trail mix" and despite the fact that he constantly argues with the woman, he's extremely attracted to her. But so far, he has made no moves to take her to bed.
Sean is upset at Veronica's phone call, but leaves his bed (and the woman currently in it) to head back to Sleepy Hollow. On the way, he learns his brother has signed him up for a date set up by 1-Night Stand. When he arrives at the mansion, he discovers that Veronica has also been set up with her own 1 Night Stand.
What follows is one helluva night of passion between the two lovers, but when the sun sets, will Sean decide to walk away?
Thunder is an sweet, entertaining read that delivers what is totally expected--hot sex and a happily-ever-after. There are really no surprises. However, sometimes the dialogue between the characters fell into the cheesy category which was a bit irritating. This happened more during the sex scene than any other time of the story and lessened the hotness of it.
My Review: I'm enjoying this Sleepy Hollow series from Taryn Kincaid. The books all have a touch of magic that really make them fun to read, but you don't get lost in all the details of the magic.
For this book, the heroine is a witch. She's the widow of an elderly sorcerer whom she truly loved, but they never had a true husband/wife relationship. But since his death, she's been floundering a bit. She decided it would help to redo the mansion he left her and Sean with his architect brother Campbell (hero from story #1) have been in charge of the construction. Sean is sexy and tough and Veronica is definitely drawn to him. When her house continues to scare her at night, she calls him to help. For his part, Sean has been trying to keep his distance from their sexy, vulnerable client, but on one stormy night, he just can't resist any longer. It's hard to resist when Madame Eve's own special match-making magic is present too.
I liked this one. I like the relationship between the two brothers and how Campbell is pushing Sean toward Veronica. He sees the attraction between them. Veronica was a little bit more mysterious with the witchcraft and her dead husband, but I still really liked her. My one complaint with this book is that this was definitely a case of insta-love which went from 0 to 60 way, way too quickly (for my taste). But overall, it was definitely a fun and sexy read!

Sexy with interesting characters, and stellar descriptions, Thunder was an enjoyable story. Unfortunately I found I couldn’t get into it the way I wanted. The plot seemed to come up a little short and I couldn’t follow the fast track path to love. I think there was too much time spent on the antagonistic behavior, between the two leads because it left a bitter taste in my mouth long after we’d moved forward in the story. That being said, I’m the kind who can on occasion hold a grudge, so please don’t let that stop you. There was plenty about this story to love.
Veronica Hadwicke is a young, widowed witch who’s built walls so high people don’t think anything exists beyond them. Wealthy, haughty, and dare I say it, uppity, she rubbed me the wrong way from the first page. Then the curtain fell, and I saw the “Wizard.” Scared out of her mind by the mysterious noises that come in the night she’s clinging to Sean for company and safety. The attractive man presses all her buttons. But since he’s made his disdain known she turns to Madame Eve’s at One Night Stand.
Her contractor happens to be Sean, a womanizer who refuses to give his heart. Renovating the old mansion for Veronica he’s developed an inexplicable crush. She’s a hot number, but cold as ice, or so he thinks until a late night phone call changes everything.
Overall this is a pretty well written story. It was sexy and sweet with compelling characters that I wanted to get to know even better. This book is part of Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series, but also the second of the Sleepy Hollow series by Taryn Kincaid specifically. I’ve read the first one, but thankfully you don’t need to have done so to understand the context of Thunder.
I do have some issues though. While the characters were compelling, I wasn’t fully invested in their outcome, making the whole thing feel a little shallow emotionally. The witch thing felt pretty irrelevant entirely, and I failed to notice any significance of the title. The first one had a clear correlation, but this just didn’t have that which was a little disappointing.
The love scenes are sexy, but I think what really makes this story is the sweetness between the two once they get over their hesitation and frustrations. Despite Sean’s playboy nature, he wants to treat Veronica right. Plus it may sound silly, but my favorite part was actually the end where Sean takes care of Veronica’s mystery sound.
A nice balance of tender and hot, Thunder is a nice little quickie read before bed. Don’t miss out on a fun little novella!

Thunder is a quick wham bam thank you mam type of book. The passion is quick, the characters willing and ready, and the steaminess hot enough to fog up your glasses. I enjoyed this short story for what it was. I would love to see a full book detailing Veronica’s and Sean’s story. They seemed to have a chemistry that was off the charts and I think it would be a fun story to read about from start to finish. As it is though this little glimpse into their lives was fun and steamy. We get to see in Thunder that Sean has been secretly lusting after his client Veronica and in turn she has been feeling the same. Sean is tired of living the bachelor life and when Veronica calls him in the middle of the night he goes without question thinking she probably has work related demands. She isn’t known to be easy to work with. When he shows up at her house though all bets are off and these dive in head first. If you are looking for a quick steamy read then you will not want to miss out on this one. I am really enjoying these 1Night Stand novellas and I will definitely be on the look out for more.
For this outing, we followed Campbell's hunky brother Sean as he finds his match in Veronica. One thing I adore about these interconnected stories is that we get to see characters from the previous books pop in. Campbell's blissfully happy with his succubus love and he's angling to get Sean in that same state. Enter Madame Eve and 1 Night Stand.
These books are flat out fun. They take the idea of one night of no holds barred sex and manages to find a way to make the couple work. Sean is used to the supernatural because of Campbell's abilities but he doesn't know everything that's out there. Veronica turns out to be a surprise from top to bottom. The sex? Smokin'. Not literally. But it does leave them very, very happy.
When I started this book, I honestly didn't realize how short it was. That being said, I still enjoyed it. It's part of a series called 1Night Stand. It had all of the components to make up a quick, fun, romantic read (including the sex). If you enjoy romance/erotica, you'll enjoy this book.
