I personally know Gregory Frizzell and he has a heart for revival. This book will guide you through a personal revival with the Lord through confession and repentance. A must read for anyone wanting to pray for revival as well.
This was a very insightful book that really made me take a good long hard look at myself and honestly critique my behaviour. If you have not read/worked this book, I strongly suggest it. It could have been written just for me. Every day that I did my assignment, I could swear had been taylor written for the day I just had. Relating every day issues to scripture really helped put a lot of things into perspective. I had a major breakthrough in forgiveness while working through sins of relationships. Thank you so much for this book!
I just finished using this book as a Bible study with several other women. Even the most mature, long-term Christian among us found it very challenging.
The main idea of the book is that in order to pray effectively, we need to cleanse ourselves by confessing and repenting of personal sin. The book is divided into several chapters that discuss different type of sin. The questions encourage a thoughtful review of our lives and helps to root out sins that keep us from the type of relationship we should have with God.
With one reading, I have noticed growth in myself. I plan to go through the chapters again, continuing to use this book as a tool to help me continue to grow into the Christian I would like to be.
Frizzell doesn't sugarcoat anything. I can appreciate his style. It is obvious that he feels strongly about this subject.
An excellent resource to help take inventory of your personal relationship with God. It’s written primarily to assist believers in identifying weaknesses in regard to sin and repentance. I think the intent is that a church go through this process individually, but also corporately in order to result in a church-wide revival. I think this resource is a useful tool to facilitate renewal of our faith and ensure that we’re placing priority where it ought to be. I will keep this book and will go through it from time to time to keep my focus where it ought to be.
The book started off strong, but seemed to get bogged down further in. Some of the terminology conveyed a feeling of legalism in places. Overall, it is challenging and instructive and valuable for self-examination which could very easily lead to personal and corporate revival. I would recommend this to other believers.
Great book for anyone who wants a revival in his/her relationship with God through Jesus Christ and is willing to look inside one's inner heart and be honest with oneself and truly repent and let revival start with one's own self.
Only negative thing I can think of is the use of "Major sin" and sometimes could verge on the line of legalism.
Only the Bible has had a greater influence in my life! I have read and prayed through this book at least twice a year for the last 10 years. Thank you, Dr. Frizzell for your honesty and faithfulness to be used of God while penning this book.
