The Gingerbread Man Loose on the Fire Truck should have been a no-look pass that led to a game-winning slamdunk. Instead, Laura Murray dropped the ball.
Emma was NOT impressed with this story of the famous Gingerbread Man visiting a fire station on a school fieldtrip. That surprised me, because she absolutely LOVES the original story, so I figured this would be a no brainer.
Like most sequels looking to cash in on a successful original work, this mimics its predecessor. Most notably it rhymes and has chase scenes. But instead of enjoying the read, I found myself racing through this as fast as can be, all the while Emma tried to flee!
I wonderful rhyming tale that shows how the little spiced boy saves the day during a visit to the firehouse. Neo loves all things firefighter.. and thankfully not the pyrotechnics themselves.
Actually found this in one of those "neighborhood book" things that look like a bird house with glass cabinet doors, and thought of my future niece-in-law. She asked me to read the first book in this series to her a couple of months ago. This one didn't have any accidental innuendos/things that could be taken out of context, although it still had some impossibilities that make this particular series cute. I can kinda see why my future niece-in-law likes this series.
As part of the picture series about the Gingerbread Man, this book is the perfect picture book primer for comic books and graphic novels and includes an engaging story that is great to read aloud. My little one didn't care about all of the information about the fire station, but I know of other preschoolers who would love this element. An Imagination Storytime Read (3yo).
I absolutely love these Gingerbread Man books, and so do my preschoolers! I just got this book in my scholastic order for October and read it to my group of two and a half year olds this afternoon, and they loved it just as much as me! These books always have adorable artwork and great flow, and I can't wait to get more of them!

Another great book sent from Dollys Library. This was sent to my 3 yr old grandson who is part of the program. The book was such a fun exciting read . The book has tips to include your child participation as you read to them..
Poor Gingerbreadman what a horrible life to have to run for your life all the time. Being chased by a dog, jumping from bed to bed, sliding down the firemans pole. Only to end the day a big hero who put wrangled the hose and put out a fire. Way to go Gingerbread.
A rhyming read-aloud featuring the gingerbread man on the loose at the fire station. A strong 2 stars. If you find the right kid (either obsessed with the gingerbread man or fire trucks), it could be a hit, but it didn't tickle me, personally.
This book didn't thrill me, but the 3yo liked it. There is nothing objectionable about It at all., and the graphic novel style was actually pretty cool, but there are better stories.
The gingerbread man visits the fire station with the school children only to find himself running from a hungry dalmation. On the move, he soon finds himself saving the day.
I took this out of the library with the hopes I’d read it for my Mezonot unit. . . but it was pretty silly and didn’t seem to have any meaningful message.
